Way to early for that. I don't think it is. Cashner already has medical red flags and all he probably will be is a decent reliever for a few years. Not worth a stud 22 year old first baseman. -

There is no upside and taking crap from the Dodgers(Whatever the 2013 strategy may be). This isn't the Hendry regime. We have no interest in a Blake Dewitt.

Pffft. That's just reasonable fan concern. Nothing wrong with that! Who said the death threats came from Cubs fans? I know some Braves fans who are pissed that Dempster turned them down. Dempster isn't black or any other kind of minority (other than ginger and Canadian) so that rules out Cubs fans as leaving threats. What are you mad at the Cubs for? They had a great deal negotiated and either Dempster was just wishy washy or was just pissed that it was leaked by the Braves.

That's not it all all. Look back at the Ted Lilly trade, what was the point of adding worthless guys like Dewitt to the roster? None. You keep him for these reasons: 1) A possible comp pick(if he doesn't accept arb) 2) A good pitcher @ 12 million dollars next year.(if he does) 3) A leg to stand on in negotiations It's not the best case scenario, but it's better than giving him away.

If there is an upside to Eovaldi going in the Hanley deal, would it not be that the Dodger's presently need another starter (when is Lilly due back)? That offers the Cubs a little leverage, although not nearly as much as they once had. The Dodgers are negotiating against themselves. The only offer they have to make is one more attractive to the Cubs than keeping a 36 year old pain in the ass and offering him arby after a career year. They've already said they don't view him as anything more than a cheap rental before the last 48 hours. Every MLB front office exec now knows that Theo can't even seriously negotiate in good faith regarding Dempster. Why would they want to pick up the phone and get involved in this situation only just to have Dempster pull the rug out on a deal at the last moment? We'll have to eat a Dodger [expletive] sandwich for Dempster, the only remaining question is mustard or mayo. There's no reason to eat a Dodger [expletive] sandwich, Jim Hendry isn't here anymore.

1) Delgado is nothing like Farnsworht, what an out of the blue comparison. 2) Regardless of what Delgado eventually becomes, you had the chance to add a top 50 caliber prospect, building the clout of your farm system.
