  1. With Boras leading the charge, 10 years would not at all surprise me.

  5. Well, being that all of the off field stuff happened AFTER Jimmy Johnson left in 1993, what does that tell you?
  6. Maybe he's tapping one of the cheerleaders on the side. Could be. Not a bad deal.
  7. Wow! Very interesting hearing Dale put Z on notice as well as telling Marmol he's basically a one pitch pitcher.
  8. Two of the greats in coaching and comments from the players. Fear and doing things right is absolutely a winning formula.
  9. The 1992 and 1993 Dallas Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson say hello. What utter crapola that statement is. Actually, there's a theory out there that says you hire a disciplinarian coach to get the team to a certain level, but if you want to win championships you then switch to a more relaxed guy to get them over the hump. So that team was just the exception? Are you sure there's only one right way to do things? Certainly not what was implied in my post. Not at all, Tim. I was merely pointing out that Dave's post was not at all accurate.

  11. Belichick is not demanding. Neither was Larussa.
  12. The 1992 and 1993 Dallas Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson say hello. What utter crapola that statement is. lol You basically said demanding leadership leads to pressure that leads to poor performance. The 1992 and 1993 Dallas Cowboys say hello. Oh, so do the 85 Bears. Man, nothing gets by you. Na, it was just an easy comment to shoot down.

  15. Yes. But Soriano has no business hitting a ball he thinks is gone, spits as he makes contact and trots to first only to have it hit off the wall. That is what we're talking about. Not a laser one hop grounder to second where he is 5 steps out of the box.
  16. The BP should be a strong suit, no doubt.
  17. Yes, pretty amazing that we have Theo, Jed and Dale tell us how important it is, but posters on here dismiss it. And if you think they were just paying lip service to the media, why not just tell them that we do not feel playing the game the right way brings a winning culture and that we want 25 talented slackers who do not care if they win or lose. They want talented players who play hard, play smart and set an example. Not the other way around.
  18. So other than Marmol, our BP is almost set.
  19. I just threw pitching coach out there. I actually think Woody would be a perfect radio or color guy. That said, I think Kerry COULD do well as a coach.
  20. And based on Ricketts comments, he will be with the organization after he retires. Hello to the new pitching coach down the road.
  21. All but a formaility that Woody will be back. =D> http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7251802/theo-epstein-wants-kerry-wood-back-13th-chicago-cubs-season
  22. And I do not buy for a second that Theo, Jed and Dale have not talked about the possibility of Prince coming here. Certainly you'd think during his interview that Sveum asked what the plans for the future would be and about the possibility of going after him or Pujols. If you go on a job interview, you always asks questions about what the plans for the future are. How could you not explore Prince knowing you have a manager who swears by the guy?
  23. Sori's days could be numbered. Sveum is going to be his worst nightmare.
  24. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7251335/dale-sveum-says-help-chicago-cubs-sign-prince-fielder :beg: Auh, oh. He metioned running balls out. "Prince and I have a great relationship," Sveum said. "I love Prince to death. It would be nice to have him at first base because of what he brings to the table every single day." Sveum points to Fielder's work ethic as the type of synergistic impact he's hoping to instill with Cubs players.
  25. Clearly he could not leave the city in which the Cowboys play.
