  1. I haven't seen any other velocity readings from the Em's games that make me scratch my head. I'm thinking Marquez may actually be that guy, which is exciting. That's terrific velocity from a LHP. Agreed. That's a very exciting development. He’s looking really good. All 96s and I saw two 97s. Curve has been the better off speed, but has snapped off a few solid changeups. Curve is 79-84. My goodness, I heard Kelli was fast, but he had a no doubt infield hit and ran an excellent ball towards the right center gap.
  2. At the Em’s game. Marquez has looked really solid. Lots of babip bad luck and some bad defense. Still not sure if hot gun, but consistent 96 on the fastball.
  3. [tweet] [/tweet] Whoa! That's pretty surprising. Figured he'd get closer to slot.
  4. First pants related injury of the year? At least our closer didn’t break his hand punching a wall after getting beat by the Marlins.
  5. And Richan was quoted as saying he was expecting 4-6th rounds. $450k is slightly above slot for our pick in the 4th round. Fingers crossed for the figure being correct. Otherwise I’m curious where we found the funds to pay our HS picks.
  6. It was the Diamondbacks and they drafted Cory Hahn. I believe they’ve since named the 34rd round selection the Cory Hahn selection in his honor.
  7. Looks like he deleted it, but here's the screen cap. Would have been a big hit with the StL fans. The internet saves it forever, kids.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] I'm a huge fan of Gimenez catching Chatwood. Hell, even if he becomes his personal catcher that's fine. J Hey up again hitting 2nd against a RHP.
  9. That can’t be good unless Tommy has bad sources. Unfortunately not [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. Do they want those players or do they want the privilege to fail them on their physicals when the deal gets close?
  11. Rodriguez went 10, Larnach 21, Rocker 22, Casas 23, Weathers 25, Eierman 26, Scott 27, and Denaburg 32. Jonathan India went 4! Rodriguez is definitely a big helium guy, but someone I'd love in the 2nd is Adam Kloffenstein. He has a bit of a Grayson Rodriguez starter package. Kloffenstein from MLB Pipeline: Rodriguez from MLB Pipeline: We definitely have a bit of room to take some HS talent in the first couple rounds.
  12. Well Tyson Miller had an excellent game (7 shutout ip, 3 h, 7/1 k/bb) so if he’s turned a corner this season that would be a nice development.
  13. Bulls win tiebreaker with Kings so they’re set for 6th pending lottery. The Pelicans pick is 22nd.
  14. Admittedly “bony stomach” is the one injury a Mets pitcher hasn’t been DL’d with yet.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Significant return in those four.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] Wow. Interesting to see the return. Also I bet Brewersfan MB must be going insane.
  17. Sure, but were they carrying a Cubs [grocery] bag?
  18. I think I’d look on going the other way if we were going to expand the deal. Happ and Montgomery along with a couple desirable prospects for Cole and Rivero. I didn’t think Rivero would be available, but he’s about to get more expensive in arbitration. A few of the Bucs blogs have mentioned he could be one to be moved.
  19. It does have the Maddon-Hickey connection. Guess he’s going to the Rangers. I wouldn’t have minded it as a BOR flier, but good luck with him in the Ballpark of Arlington.
  20. I haven’t heard much about OAK this offseason, but I’m starting to warm to the idea of a Graveman/Trienen package. Graveman has some shoulder tendinitis last year so that’s a concern, but otherwise interesting. OAK has enough depth that it’s not a full rebuild and our plug and play assets would definitely appeal.
  21. Submariner Makita was posted yesterday so he’ll be another option. I’d be very interested to bring him in on a 2 year plus an option contract since I don’t imagine the posting fee will be too high. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2017/12/11/baseball/japanese-baseball/seibu-submits-application-kazuhisa-makita-use-posting-system/#.Wi9ga2iIaEc I’d still like to bring in Reed. There was some discussion that it was viewed that Morrow set the market for non Closers. If there’s a way to bring in Addison Reed for less than Morrow, that’s a nice security blanket in case Morrow has any issues/setbacks.
  22. Welp guess the only one who benefits from this in Chicago is the company that supplies Theo with office furniture.
  23. Also interesting that you haven't seen the Cubs attached to too many of the big names in the next IFA period: [tweet] [/tweet] Could be really promising for the organization. I know Maitan has lost a few supporters, but that is an incredible talent and would be an enormous add to the system.
  24. Stanton to the Cards has some big implications, but a ton of hurdles. He's obviously a huge offensive force and a huge contract, not to mention he will likely be limited defensively in the latter years of his contract. It's definitely an interesting risk/reward. But the team I'm actually scared of seeing connected to the Cards is the Blue Jays. Kelly, Kolten Wong, Weaver, Reyes, Alcantara would all be very appealing targets if Toronto decides to deal Stroman/Sanchez, Osuna, and/or Donaldson. They seem like a disturbingly perfect set of trade partners. I do not want to see Stroman or Sanchez in a Cardinals uniform.
