    Any chance there's a move to made for a deal structured along the lines of Soler, Haap for Blackmon, Jon Gray? LHH OF who can back up all three positions and is under control for a couple seasons and a cost controlled SP that would benefit from the move from Coors (not to mention I'd love for him to be Bosio'd) It'd hurt to lose Jorge, but helps to solve a long standing problem. Based on the trade market, it seems like the value of not-yet-established young starting pitching is the prime opportunity to acquire talent.

    Another HS we appear to have a chance on is 33rd rounder Nate Sweeney, who was offered flat $100k to sign. Per his interview, he's not terribly interested in the school aspect of college and is considering signing since the Cubs have an excellent development staff.     Encouraging projection for Mekkes from Fangraphs Two RS SO in the top 10 will be interesting. Like TT and Cal were saying, it'll be interesting how they structure the offers. Miller in the 4th sounds like he's already accepted an offer. Perhaps an underslot for 5th round money?

    In case anyone is interesting in signings, Yags (of PSD fame) has put together his webpage of signing info again this year. He's going to be putting in a ton of extra information tonight per his last post. Just a heads up, last year he had so much traffic to the website that it crashed consistently. http://ccdt.webs.com/ Hopefully with more information coming out and SS starting soon we'll find out more about the signings. Again, quality work by Yags. It's incredible the amount of work he puts into the page.

    I know I haven't posted in awhile. A residency can suck up so much time. Has anyone thought about the possibility of the Pirates making a play for Samardzija? It's been discussed here before, but the Pirates are now 26-30 and just 3 games behind the Cardinals for 2nd (and who knows if Milwaukee will continue on their current run). They could definitely entice the Cubs with pitching. Even with Taillon out with TJS, Pittsburgh has Glasnow and Kingham as available options. I'd be shocked if Polanco is available unless they get desperate. Also, Pittsburgh now has two competitive balance picks to move if they so choose (#39 from Miami and their original #73). Samardzija would add a ton of value to a mediocre pitching staff outside of Cole and maybe Morton.

    I can only imagine how much furniture they'll have to replace in Theo's office this time.

    Amaya a clean 4/4 on the day with a solid single into CF. Unfortunately 2B makes a sparkling play and flip to the SS for a double play on Almora.

    Rivera just had an incredible play to pick up a bunt on the 3B line and throw from the ground to nab the runner at 1st. It was risky, but it was fantastic to watch.

    Almora just scalded a ball to right center that the RF made a lunging reach for and collided with the CF and the ball fell out. Albert was running hard ll the way and ended up at 3B. He almost went for the HR and slammed on the brakes rounding 3rd. Vogelbach followed up with a nice single to score.

    Taylor Scott pitching in Kane County. It was TBD here in KC. JCP would be on normal rest IIRC, but I haven't heard anything about if he will be pitching today or not. Edit: Kane County obviously (not Peoria)

    I wonder if it would be due to a trade of Valbuena with Garza. McLeod did talk about how close Lake is to being ready. Maybe a trade of Valbuena leads to Lake starting at 3B.

    We would lose the bonus percentage off their slot amounts however and don't get to use the money slotted to them to sign Bryant. I'm hoping we have everything figured out and Bryant is taking some time off like ABTY mentioned at PSD.

    Dan Vogelbach, Tayler Scott, and Rock Shoulders off the top of my head. Pena is a hard throwing RHP that can get a little erratic and Nathan Dorris (LHP) is there as well. Outside of Cubs, Byron Buxton (OF), Carlos Correa (SS), and lance McCullers (RHP) will also be there and are top prospects.

    Callis did say he was most likely out of picks outside of Z to make it as a starter. Exciting to see some more signings announced officially!

    Skulina signs for 800K per Jim Callis on twitter (on phone currently). That's about 325K overslot. Color me surprised.

    Oh yes. Unfortunately it really was. 4 walks and a HBP. No real hard hits, but was 89-92 during the inning. There was an error that should have helped him out, but it was already a rough inning. On a lighter note, Almora laced a ball up the middle.

    The first for Maples was every bit as rough as the box score will read. Labored through his 2/3 of an inning. 4R. And leaves with bases loaded. Walks, HBP. Not hit hard, but control is an issue (as advertised). Contreras had a lazer to 2nd to nab a runner though.
