  1. i am legit curious if he wants to get into broadcasting. brenly's schtick is old, but he's still so much better than most of the morons out there.
  2. i'd say we'll definitely be in the top 10 by the trading deadline this year, even with no cubans.
  3. hawpe/soriano would probably be a really good platoon. legendary defense.
  4. What do you(or other Iowa fans, for that matter) think of him? He's incredibly solid and consistent. He filled in for Bulaga when he was a freshman, and I don't think anybody really noticed Bulaga was gone. I think he's better than Bulaga was, and pretty close to Gallery. I would agree with this. He's definitely more consistent than Bulaga was, not as dominant as Gallery was. He has the frame and build to get bigger/stronger without losing athleticism or quickness. I don't know that he can be an All-Pro LT but he definitely should be a solid LT. Then again I (nor anyone else really) had any reason to believe Gallery wouldn't be able to stick at LT. gallery couldn't even stick at rt, which was shocking. has there been a tackle since gallery that's had his hype? probably jake long, I guess.
  5. those numbers sound like derrek lee before we got him from the marlins
  6. On the one hand it's horrendously distasteful to joke about, on the other we need the levity. distasteful jokes are a hallmark of this board, from what I've seen.
  7. Soriano is perceived as being Manny Ramirez in the outfield defensively. That's why they're saying he's a better fit as a DH.
  8. I think there's very little chance Ryan Zimmerman will leave the Nationals. In fact, I'd be rather shocked. I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious as to why. Does he have a strong commitment to the team and/or city that I don't know about? Would he give a large "hometown discount?" He'll have been there for a while and there's a decent chance they'll be pretty damn good by the time he's a FA. I find it interesting how many times Votto's name comes up in terms of FA targets when he'll be 31 by the time he's available. I don't think many people realize how old he is. count me in that group. what the hell, didn't he just come up like 2 years ago?
  9. as if the the orange bowl didn't suck enough, we have train doing drops of jupiter.
  10. i hope to hell theo's ready after 2013. Zimmerman + Votto could be available
  11. so wvu has 49 points in the 1st half
  12. Really weird to think that he's 2 weeks younger than Cashner. Volstad's HR rate is one thing that's downright bizarre to me. He's a pretty good ground ball guy who didn't give up many HRs in MiLB and played half his games in Pro Player, but he's had some crazy high and crazy low HR rates in his short MLB career. I don't know what to make of it. pitch selection?
  13. If we're intent on being a [expletive] team, why not let Z pitch for 3 months, prove he can coexist with people and then trade him rather than trade him fresh off a hissy fit suspension by our blowhard ex-GM. The Hendryness of this move is very troubling to me. because that's likely. It doesn't matter if it was likely, there was a chance. The Cubs could have found a half dozen Volstad's this offseason. If the return is nothing, then hold out for the 1% chance Z can make himself valuable again and at least bring a lottery ticket or two back. the return isn't nothing, it's chris volstad. volstad's more likely to become a decent mid-rotation starter than zambrano is of finding the fountain of youth.

  15. yay theo, lie to kaplan's face
  16. marlins had no chance at garza. i'm pretty sure all their pitching prospects are mediocre at best
  17. what is volstad's stuff like? i'm guessing bad because his strikeout rate is terrible.
  18. orioles. they probably need one the most.
  19. if we can actually get LoMo, i'll start on my shrine to Theo right away
  20. theo apparently has a twin brother, wtf
