I haven't been watching or even listening to the games on this west coast trip because I am usually asleep by 10:00 E.S.T., but reading the next day about missed cutoff men, getting picked off, getting doubled off, stealing a base when down 6, and failing to execute any sacrifice bunts except the time the three hitter was asked to do it is making me think something big has to happen or we will continue to watch a team much like the last couple of years. I think Dusty either has to go or has to get the team to play smart. He cannot continue to justify a lack of fundamentals by citing his former teams. The teams he has coached the last three years have displayed miserable baserunning, a failure to hit a cutoff man, and a failure to execute a sacrifice bunt. Now, we can argue the merits of bunting, but if you are a coach and you are going to call on people to bunt, they need to know how. I think if they don't know how, it's the coaches fault for either not teaching them or continuing to call on them to do something they can't do well.
