1. Didn't CJ Wilson have some arm injuries in the past? I think Buehrle has proven he can stay healthy, which is probably due to his smooth delivery and that he doesn't seem to over exert himself on every pitch. I think he could do really well in the NL and prove to be good value for a 3 or 4 year deal.
2. Lot of people here talk about the Cubs pursuing CJ Wilson, but what about Mark Buehrle instead? Has proven to be a work horse and will be cheaper than Wilson.
3. I don't think there's any campaign, at least not on this board. There's one camp that thinks he'd be terrible. There's another camp that thinks, well maybe not. I don't think he's at the top of anyone here's list, though. I'm more or less talking about the media. And then I hear a lot of people voicing their Sandberg love on sports talk radio. I do agree that the prevailing opinion on here (although not 100%) is not in support of Sandberg for manager.
4. But I guess if it's what Theo wants, I can reluctantly get behind it though.
5. I just don't get the campaign for Sandberg. Why is he more qualified than any other candidate? Just b/c he played a HOF career w/the Cubs? So what if he's had success managing in the minors...it doesn't automatically translate to success at the major league level. If he's such a hot manager candidate, why hasn't any other team even as much as interviewed him for their position? I would much rather see him get experience as a major league bench coach before I'd feel comfortable hiring him as manager. Managing in the major leagues is a much different animal than managing in the minors. B/c of how annoying this Sandberg-for-manager campaign has become, I am rooting for him not to become the next manager
6. Not at all worried about it. If he is brought in it has nothing to do with rejuvenating the fan base, and he will be gone if he doesn't produce the results expected. Guaranteed there will be lots of dumb fans who would be more quick to blame Epstein than Sandberg. On the other hand, managerial mistakes cannot be confused w/ front office mistakes. So, I may be jumping to conclusions here.

8. That is the least of my worries with Sandberg. If things go bad I doubt it will be hard to dump him. As for the Sandberg in Chicago reports, Kaplan was talking during the commercial breaks prior to the press conference yesterday, which was still live on the streaming side, and he said his buddy who owns the Denim Lounge saw Sandberg. Apparently, Sandberg has a home in the Chicago area. So, I don't think any of these sightings mean anything or should be a big deal.
9. Is it just me, or is anyone else concerned that if they hire Sandberg to be the next manager and things go bad, it will be difficult to fire him b/c of his connection to the franchise? I'd just assume they hire someone else to avoid any potential ugly situation. They dont need to hire Sandberg to rejuvenate the fanbase...they should have already done that with hiring Epstein.
10. Theo is on the Score right now.
11. http://619sports.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/hoyer-introduced.jpg Jed Hoyer got one, so yea... Jersey - fine. Just no hat please.
12. I think it's good advice in life to not trust anyone named Larry...i.e. Larry Luccino and Larry from Three's Company
13. Why not? See above. Let's assume for a moment that there's even a 1% chance that Epstein to the Cubs falls apart. Hoyer's not going to quit his job in San Diego if there's a chance he has to work with someone other than his superbestbuddy. The Cubs aren't going to hire a new GM if there's even a tiny chance they have to find a new President (who will presumably want some sort of say on the GM front). The Cubs can not only offer Hoyer a lot more money than the Padres, but give him the kind of payroll that he'd never come close to overe there. I think that for that he'd be willing to wait a year for his buddy to join him and risk the chance that it doesn't happen. And please nobody come back with any Crane kenney related comments. Ricketts has already said that the new GM, whoever it is will have a [expletive] off Crane clause in his contract. I'm pretty sure if Kenney ever tried to meddle in Theo and Jed's baseball operation, the result would be something like the hospital scene from the movie Knocked Up: "So don't even try to come into that room, that's my room now. That little area with the Pepsi machine, that's your area. My room, your area, stay in your area, stay out of my room, back... the... [expletive]... off."

15. That was the real Jason Motte that we know and love.
16. Didn't they just say that Kenney is Kaplan's source, or was I not paying attention enough?
17. Rosenbloom's columns on the Epstein stuff is ridiculous. But, I do find his rants on the Bears to be entertaining and not too far off.
18. Kaplan broke the story that Kerry Wood was coming back to the Cubs last year. He also reported the Cubs were closing in on a deal for Garza a few days before it happen. Yes Kaplan is stupid, annoying and a big meathead. But he does have some type of inside info, and it's not like him to report stuff that's not true. So of course take this as a grain of salt, but don't totally write it off as nonsense either. Because Kaplan doesn't usually report false nonsense, and when he does make claims like this it's usually true. Didn't the Kapman also break the news of the Hendry firing?
19. But, isn't the PTBNL already known by the negotiating parties? I know w/the Ubaldo Jimenez trade, the PTBNL was Drew Pomeranz, which couldn't become official until he had been w/the Indians for one year after he was signed. I doubt the Red Sox would let Theo free until the compensation is finalized nor would they want to negotiate against him.
20. From the comments section, I really wish this guy would start posting here. I would be willing to bet that this guy wants Ryne Sandberg as manager
21. Isn't there an unwritten (or maybe it's written) moratorium on other teams making news during the WS such that it might distract from the games? If so, tomorrow's the day. Yes, teams cannot make news during the World Series. So, tomorrow should be the day (hopefully). I would guess, we'll hear reports of a done deal today sometime.
22. My advice in life is if you don't want to kill yourself or find out how stupid people out there are, don't read the comment section to online articles.
23. Yeah, me thinks the press conference will be tomorrow.
24. But what about the current DBacks farm system? I want to say last I checked their top ten prospects list, I came away impressed. I know Towers has only been there 1.5 years.
25. If we're giving up Szczur, we better be getting some of Theo's assistants from the Red Sox. Speaking of potential assistants, didn't Byrnes leave the D-Backs farm system in great shape when he was fired?
