  1. Sorry, meant to say bad (ground ball) Kintzler
  2. Are we gonna get good (ground ball) or bad (fly ball) Kintzler?
  3. I'd be fine if they just throw at him every single pitch
  4. Anyone know when Nico Hoerner is supposed to return? It’s been about two weeks now and I thought the report was no serious injury. 2 weeks off from a hit by pitch to the wrist/arm seems serious to me.
  5. After the 7 wins in a row against winning teams, I bet they think they can just show up and win against the Marlins.
  6. Anyone know why Hoerner was taken out after his 2nd AB (ground out) in the 3rd inning yesterday? Maybe they only wanted him to get in a couple of ABs?
  7. How much of the pitching falling off can be attributed to Contreras’ receiving skills and game calling?
  8. In the words of Bob Brenly, this is a “dead ass team”.
  9. And a second round pick! I didn’t know teams were allowed to draft real prospects past the 1st round...
  10. Is it wrong that I kind of like this Descalso guy?
  11. HasWilly been missing again? I can never tell...
  12. Well, Ricketts "likes our team", so all will be fine. No worries... :banghead:
  13. Wouldn't the Cubs have to forfeit their 1st round draft pick to sign Kimbrel since I believe the Red Sox gave him a qualifying offer? Regardless, it's all a mute point b/c Ricketts won't let Theo spend any money anyways. No, there aren't any outcomes where a QO player causes a team to lose their first round pick any more. Because the Cubs were under the LT threshold last year, they would lose their 2nd highest pick and 500k of IFA money. If they had been over the LT last year, it would have been 2nd and 5th highest picks and 1 million of IFA money. Thanks for the explanation and to others for my spelling error! :D

  15. It's also filled with fat people from Iowa and adult autograph seekers. I was there this past weekend too and didn't care for the long lines and Wrigley prices for food and beverages (should have brought my own). However, it was still a lot of fun to see the joy on my kid's face and it's very kid-friendly; there are kid-only autograph lines, the kids-only press conference is great, people working there will go out of their way for kids, and tons of giveaways. go horsefeathers yourself WTF is wrong with you???

  18. Relying on Strop, Cishek, Edwards, and a usually hurt Morrow for the back end of the bullpen doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Thanks PTR!!! I agree we need to add a guy or two. But depending on Strop shouldn’t be a concern, he’s been one of the better and most consistent/reliable RPs in baseball for a while now. If Cishek doesn’t have to pitch 140 innings this year he should be fine too. Ideally, yes, they are somewhere between our 4th best RP options than top 2, but to act like Strop doesn’t give you confidence is wrong. IMO. I wasn't specifically referring to Strop, but the bullpen as a whole. An injury to any of those guys and the Cubs could be up horsefeathers's creek.
  19. So, who the horsefeathers is going to close until Morrow is healthy? Strop Relying on Strop, Cishek, Edwards, and a usually hurt Morrow for the back end of the bullpen doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Thanks PTR!!!

  21. I view the Cubs as a far better "location" draw than the White Sox in terms of Wrigley and just generally the stage the Cubs are on vs the White Sox and also don't the White Sox have some of the worst ST facilities in all of MLB? Or am I confusing them with someone else? Don't they share a fairly new spring training facility with the Dodgers now? Yes, they do. Camelback Ranch in Glendale. It's fairly new, so not sure how it compares with Cubs' ST facilities.
  22. If the White Sox are actually serious about signing Harper, is anyone at all concerned about them blowing past whatever largest offer the Cubs end up with, considering their irrational and petty hatred of the Cubs organization?
  23. That was implied. I already know your opinion but I'll ask it anyways, do you think white straight guys don't enjoy privileges? I mean, can you name a person who owns a baseball team that isn't a straight white guy? I can only think of one, and he spends more than PTR, and he supports a few progressive things, so to Boombox's other absurd point where he asks what more we could hope for out of an owner... Well, your assumption is wrong. I do think white straight guys enjoy privileges or advantages in life. I do consider myself lucky in life, but I'm not going to feel bad about myself for being a white straight guy. Actually, I'm not sure which non-white owner in baseball you are talking about...I just assume they are all white. Speaking of the Ricketts, doesn't co-owner Laura do a lot of progressive things and the ownership as a whole do a lot of charitable work?
