  1. I really want the Maddux bros. I'm imagining a sort of Mario/Luigi dynamic here. Obviously it would be Will/Carlton. Pretty sure they were cousins
  2. Hello? Sex offender hotline? I have something to report.
  3. http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/72147/the-kings-of-the-call-up "Here's the kicker: Bogaerts was the youngest player in the Eastern League and International League this year, and is now the third-youngest player in the majors behind only Jurickson Profar and Bryce Harper. There are few more reliable markers for future stardom than a player who excels at various levels while being younger than virtually everybody else." When I read this I couldn't help but remember Kyle's comments about how Baez is #1 in OPS and #146 in age for Tennessee/Southern League
  4. I looked at the play by play on Leal and he gave up 4 hits and 3 runs to the first five batters he faced. After that just one hit and one walk.
  5. Nice list. Not much to fuss about with it Vizcaino, imo, feels like he should only drop to tier 2, but i get it - missed two whole seasons Maples, with his newly found command, could fit into the 4th tier at least A lot of pitching options look better to me than Contreras and Ha, though Amaya is more intriguing. I'd even place a likely high end reliever like Black over either of them.
  6. I was at D'arcy's Pint in Springfield and pretty much did the same thing. Wow, I've been there. Horseshoes!
  7. Has it been determined that Cabrera's move to the pen is due to an innings limit?
  8. MLB article says Sweeney will be getting the bulk of the work
  9. [/img] Tangled, do you have the new QOTSA album? I'm sure you've seen this: likeclockwork.tv
  10. What are the odds that Lake goes up to take DeJesus' place? Better chance than Jackson?
  11. Hey everybody - I wanted to post that we had our third child (first boy) this morning. Cheers!
  12. I opened the thread, chose Appel due to the near universal acknowledgement by experts that he's the clearest top pick, then wanted to change my pick to Bryant and then Gray. It's hard to see past the potential in Gray. Pitching is risky, but neither of these guys will need more than a season and a half in the minors, so that risk is somewhat diminished. Both are ace types, but I like Gray's Verlander comparison, even if it's not fair. Hard to pick. Can't wait to see how the rest of the draft shakes out. Do you folks believe that we'll focus on pitching as heavily as last season?
  13. I've always been under the impression that 21 is age appropriate for Low A, Short Season - 20/19, Rookie - 19/18 and so on. And by age appropriate I mean that is the age of a majority of the players at that level. If you are a top prospect you're probably a year or two ahead of that pace. I'm curious what other people think and why. Thanks. According to BA, the median age for the FSL in 2012 was 23 years old. See: http://yourprospectsucks.tumblr.com/post/24623508386/the-basics-of-minor-league-baseball Also, according to Minor League Central, there are only 13 batters under the age of 21 currently in the FSL. Dustin Geiger is the 26th youngest player in the entire league. http://minorleaguecentral.com/leaderboard?lid%5B%5D=123&y=2013&split=200&amod=%3C%3D&age=99&time=0&type=batter&table=0 According to BR, the average batter age in the FSL is 22.8. And according to them, Geiger is the 32nd, with regards to age, of hitters with an AB. This may be a bit dated, but helpful to this discussion: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/minor-league-leaderboard-context/
  14. And he stupidly just had his first kid. He's got a lot of work to do to catch up to Antonio Cromartie
  15. I'm in if you're still looking. Yahoo?
  16. Keeper league? Money league?
  17. You're right about Torreyes by month. I'm inclined to write off his terrible BABIP month a bit and believe in his track record, maybe too much. And I completely agree on DeVoss. He'd be the guy to get bumped around for just about anyone else at this point.
  18. Torreyes did really well from June on last year. His awful start just kept his overall numbers down. I think he, out of the group listed originally, is easily the right choice for Tennessee. I'd be stunned if DeVoss skipped Daytona. He wasn't all that great at Peoria last year to the point that I wouldn't hesitate to send him back unless a better prospect needed to start there.
  19. I'd be stunned if he started anywhere but Daytona. He shredded Peoria, but didn't continue when he moved up after Alcantara's injury. I think had the injury not happened he would have stayed in Peoria until the end of the year, but either way, I don't see him going straight to AA. I doubt Alcantara's injury was the reason Baez was promoted. (An opportunity? Sure.) Epstein and Hoyer had already proven once that they wouldn't promote Baez until they felt he was ready. Do you think Alcantara would have been promoted, too?
  20. Except for the" let's go cubbies" chant. My dad always refers to them as the "Fuzzy Cubbies," so I'm partial to that.

  22. I thought I posted 25, right ahead of Blackburn, but I don't see it in the comments.
  23. Anything particularly interesting from Theo?
  24. That's great, but are they fruits or vegetables? since we didn't get Escobar this offseason, it hopefully doesn't matter if they're fruits or not. edit: not only was raisin faster, but his was better. :hello: Escolar is a fish actually. I think he was going for escarole
  25. I saw that quote and was also intrigued. There is not enough video coverage of spring training Where is this quote you guys speak of? Did you tweet GW?
