  1. I agree that Suh should had gotten more votes, and possibly should have won the award, but your post about Toby getting robbed was, IMO saying that Ingram didn't deserve it and that I do take offense to(even if you meant it or not). Yes, I've seen Toby's stats, but there is at least three games, and maybe up to five games in which Toby had his stats padded, where is at least three games in which Ingram could have padded his stats. Ultimately had Ingram been allowed to pad his stats against teams like FIU, North Texas and Mississippi State there is a strong case you can make that Ingram could have finish the season with more yards and possibly touchdowns then Gerhart. Ultimately you can blame the fact that Gerhart played on a west coast team. Right or wrong, Gerhart's name for the Heisman simply started to late. What?!? Seriously... what?!? Against the 6 best defenses he faced, Gerhart averaged 147 ypg (more than his season avg). He rushed for more yardage against hose 6 than the worse 6, and his top performance of the season came against one of those top teams. Hell, Gerhart had as many TD's in those 6 ames as Ingram had all season. Oh, and Toby did not face a FCS team, like Ingram did. Padded his stats... lol. The inaccuracies never end.
  2. No not really, but that's ok. Really? So, Ingram- who faced ONE Top 40 rush Defense (UF) gained fewer yards in more games, and had 11 fewer rush TD's, didn't rob Gerhart- who faced FIVE Top 40 Rush Defenses? So, Gerhart had 200 more yards in fewer games, 11 more TD's in fewer games, and did it against better competition (with MUCH less help around him), but wasn't robbed? In those 5 games against Top 40 Rush D's, Gerhart had 11 TD's... 4 fewer than Ingram got in a full season plus a championship game. Yes, he got robbed, and your homerism sure looks stupid now. If you're going to point out how Gerhart was better, you also need to be aware of how he's worse. Gerhart needed 62 more carries to get his yards and Ingram gained more yards each time (6.2 vs. 5.6). Ingram also had 30 catches for 322 yards and three TDs while Gerhart went 10-149-0. I'm not arguing either way, just that this isn't as clear cut as you seem to be making it. Oh, I agree with that. Ingram was a better receiver. And, to be honest, while statistically, the Pac-10 rush defenses were better, we know why that is- the Pac 10 sucks at running the fotball, whereas the SEC runs better than it throws generally. But, while Gerhart "needed" more carries, you have to consider some intangibles here. First, Gerhart did not have a backup to split carries with. Stanford's #2 rusher was Luck, and he averaged under 25 ypg. Ingram had Richardson who stole carries, sure, but also kept Ingram fresher, and helped wear down defenses. And while the QB's were basically a wash, Gerhart didn't have a WR on the level of Julio Jones to take off any pressure. Overall, I think Suh should have won it (he was, after all, the best player in the country), but if it was going to a RB, I think it should have gone to the one with more yards, several more TD's, and doing it against *statistically* better defenses.

Gerhart barely lost. It was the difference of one or two voters. It wasn't like Gerhart finished in 5th Doesn't matter if he finished 2nd or 5th... he deserved to win it, and 2nd or 5th, he still lost it. I'm not angry that people would have voted for Ingram , necessarily. It's the votes for Tebow (23 of 'em) that are indefensible.

  5. Gerhart was ROBBED.
  6. I don't really care for a championship game to be honest but I realize that is the point to getting a twelve team. The name obviously won't change but if it did I would be in favor of The Conference to Rule Them All. Probably fits to call it "The Not As Big Twelve".
  7. We're going to lose half our staff after just one season. I hope Kiffin replaces them well. Any room for Rodney Garner at this point? It's the price you pay, I guess. Rodney Garner? Don't think so. Not even positive that Thompson is gone, to be honest. The most interesting name I'm hearing for a position is none other than Sly Croom. I'd love to see this pan out.
  8. I see the point you're trying to make- Suh is unreal- but (and I cannot believe I am going to do this...) putting Bama's D-line in this discussion is not exactly comparing apples to apples. Bama's base defense is a 3-4, while the rest of those (I think) are 4-3's. Bama's D is predicated on Cody occupying blockers and linebackers making plays. That explains the subpar statistics. Okay, I'm going to go shower now.
  9. Sounds like Strong is going to raid the SEC for his staff. Taking Gonzalez with him from UF, and Lance Thompson appears to be the likely DC for Strong, though Charlie will most certainly run that D.
  10. Ole Miss may be without a coach in the JerryBowl. Sounds an awful lot like KU is moving quickly on him, and that he's serious. Either that, or he's just using KU to get what he wants at Ole Miss. This will be interesting to watch.
  11. Another bump. The team that is being claimed is extremely young, has a butt load of picks in this draft, and not a bad bunch of keepers.
  12. If you were Cincy's AD and your coach just finished an undefeated season, wouldn't you want to fire him if he didn't vote your team #1? It's perfectly reasonable for the coach of an undefeated BCS team to vote his team #1 and I think it's actually his job to do so. Bo Pelini deserves to be kicked in the balls for that vote. So, to vote your own undefeated BCS team #1 is fine, but to vote the undefeated BCS team who beat yours #1 is not? Ummm, okay.
  13. Jorts and beads. What a combo!
  14. I'm quite worried that Va Tech is going to thoroughly smash the life out of UT. This is a terrible matchup for Tennessee. Good defensive team with a mobile QB while having to replace at least two coaches. This could be ugly, though Monte Kiffin having 3 weeks to scheme for someone can only be considered a positive.
  15. It's like Spiderman vs. Venom.
  16. Well, you could just bitch bout it without reason, or you could respond to one of the two messages I have sent out asking for your info to get you your winnings. My apologies. I didn't see that payment message in the middle of the post. I'll PM you my info. No worries. My apologies to you for the snarky response. I don't really recall writing it, so let's blame that one on the Ambien.

  19. That's kind of what I thought. I could see him trying to bring in Randy Sanders, but I wonder if Sanders would leave Kentucky knowing he'll get the OC job once Joker Phillips makes the move to head coach. If not Sanders, I wonder if Fulmer would look at Rob Spence or Scott Loefler, two guys he apparently considered for the UT OC job when he hired Clawson? Either would be very good OCs, I think. This is very true and is why I think Fulmer would be highly interested. Not having to deal with the big dogs in a conference until the championship game is a good deal. For the record, Spence is available, seeing that Syracuse fired him today. The appeal for Randy is this, imo: He's coaching under Joker (and the leaf is off this rose) in a division where he can hope to compete for 3rd best on a consistent basis in a defensive-oriented conference. Or, he could coach for a rpoven winner in a weaker division against weaker defenses. Either way, he' coaching at a basketball school, and Lexington is certainly a preferable city to Lawrence, so I'd think it comes down to money.
  20. So do Urban Meyer's. Would you prefer Tuberville over him? Not saying that there aren't legitimate reasons to prefer Tubs over Fulmer... just think that one is a bit of a stretch.
  21. TIFWIW... Louisville's Top 3, as of right now, is Fulmer, Charlie Strong, and Butch Jones. I think it's Strong's job to lose, and that Phil is the next coach at Kansas. Can you imagine that headline the morning after Mangino is fired and Fulmer is hired? "Jayhawks Head Football Coach 50 Pounds Lighter This Morning." What are your thoughts on the possibility of Fulmer to Kansas? I think he can thrive there, but I'm curious to hear other opinions. All depends upon his staff. He's been known to recruit Oklahoma with pretty decent success, and has been able to entice the occasional Texan to sign with him, and he's had success elsewhere in the midwest, so I think he can it done in that regard. But, he's proven that if he does not have the assistants, he's not the head coach his record suggests. Wouldn't be shocked to see Sanders back on board with him, and I can see a couple of his old buddies rejoining him, and even wonder if Garner gets passed over again at UGA, if Fulmer would hire him as the DC. Plus, let's be honest... if you have to rebuild in the Big 12, it's nice to do it in a separate division from Oklahoma and Texas.

  23. I would have been fine with the Chick-Fil-A Bowl...I guess one could argue the allure of the Outback Bowl is that it is a New Year's Day bowl, and that it may pay an SEC team slightly more than the CFA (3million to 2.4 million respectively last year). Other than that, not much of a difference to me...not like it's the Sugar or Capital One... This is where we differ. The idea that a New Year's Day Bowl is somehow better is antiquated, and in the age of conference tie-ins and multiple lower level bowls being played on the 1st or later, it just does not mean what it did pre-BCS. Don't get me wrong, I would not have been disappointed with the Outback, but I honestly prefer the CFA. MUCH better time slot, MUCH better opponent, and a football environment that takes atmospheric conditions totally out of play. Not to mention the fact that the SEC compiles the BOwl Payouts and distributes evenly, unless something has changed from last year.
  24. I've hear two things about Louisville today. FIrst, that Tuberville was in town today to talk about the vacancy. Talk about ultimate irony. Second, I am reading that this is Charlie Strong's job to lose. PLEASE be true!
  25. The guy is 80 freaking years old. What if his own accord means coaching until he's 97 years old, blind and in a wheelchair? Should they let him do that because they owe it to him? Eventually, a program needs to do what is best for itself. The program wouldn't be anything with out him. Wait him out. He's been loyal to them for 30 odd years, would it kill them now to be loyal to him for another 5? Actually, waiting that long while the program continues to regress could hurt in a number of ways, not the least of which is financially. Imagine that the losing continues and only 2,000 fewer people attend games because of it. Average ticket price is what, $40? So, $80,000 per game in lost ticket revenue= nearly 500k a year. Over 5 years, that is a loss of 2.5 million dollars in ticket revenue alone, and I'd wager that is a very conservative estimate. What, really does FSU owe Bowden? He made them a National Power. They made him a multi-millionaire. I'd say the sides are even.
