I've heard Albert will need Tommy John eventually. If he's going to do it, he needs to do it now, to give all offseason to heal.

La Russa can't be fired. He's a free agent. Even with this loss, Tony seems to have enjoyed this year, and the front office finally listened to him. I see Tony returning, and Dave Duncan going somewhere else. As far as the Cubs comparison, you guys did win the division by a few games last year, and go on to get swept. So, statistically, comparisons could be made. And we both faced the Dodgers. And I heard lots of people, not just Miklasz, making the Cubs comparison. Fact is, we just got beat. We couldn't get any kind of consistent momentum. We seem to have little energy. The team just looked kind of dead. Maybe the Cards were trying, but the players just couldn't seem to get anything going. It sucks, especially with the Rams doing their usual thing, and the Blues are doing okay, but they lost Thursday and Saturday. Can't complain a lot about the Blues, after they beat the Wings twice in Sweden. I've actually heard a Cardinal fan say that this has been the worst week in STL Sports history. I haven't been around since 1882 (when the Cards began playing), so I can't so for sure. But it has been disappointing. I wasn't expecting much from the 2009 postseason. We just had so little momentum and so little offense for most of the last week of the season. We were cold. And we got beat by a better team. I can see making the Cubs comparison. And I would see that you would take that as a shot. But Bernie wasn't the only one saying it. I've read it in other places. Bottom line, we got beat, and beat bad. Not to sound like a Cub fan, but there's always next year. The front office does have a lot of roster moves to address this year. We'll see how that goes. I look forward to the race in April. I can see that. But we beat the Dodgers in the NLDS in 2004, and we beat the Padres in the NLDS in 2005 and 2006. So the NL Central against the NL West in NLDS series since 2004 - The NL Central has won 3 (2004, 2005, and 2006) and lost 3 (2007, 2008, 2009). It's even. 3 (2004, 2008, and 2009) were against the Dodgers, 2 (2005 and 2006) against the Padres and one (2007) against the Diamondbacks. I'm not sure if that is a recent picture. I think he's been losing weight for a while. I know he's been on a weight loss program for problem a year, but I don't know how it's going.

I could see some case where we would resign Holliday. The Yankees have said (though it's just words) that they won't pursue Holliday. I doubt you guys will, unless you can dump some salary. DeRosa we might resign. But the front office has said they won't pursue a contract with DeRosa until after his surgery. I've never read anything about him having issues with Tony. I disagree about Ludwick being a minor consideration, though. I would think we would want to lock him up pretty quickly after the season. I'm not sure about trades. It depends on who we can resign. We do have money coming off the books this year. Troy Glaus and Khalil Greene are free agents. Lugo is ours, but the Red Sox pay his salary next year. We may need another starter, depending on what Smoltz and Pineiro do. Franklin is locked up for next year. I think Miller is, too. We'll know more once the season is over and we find out what players will probably get.

I couldn't be a Cubs fan. No offense to you guys. I've met some good Cubs fans. But I just couldn't switch. I've been watching Cardinal baseball since I was an infant. I love the Cardinals and St. Louis. It's genetic, too, I guess. My parents, my grandparents, their parents are and were Cardinal fans.

Fielder looks like a DH-in-the-making to me. Olney suggests he'll go to Boston in the offseason. His ego will fit right in there.

If there is karma, it has struck. The Brewers haven't celebrated in 3 days.

My personal feeling is that if a team has been around 100+ years, no reason to make big changes to the colors or uniform.

Eh. They listened to one inning. And innings vary by length and what happens. Maybe FSN got tired of Dan talking, though. The other day in the post game below his face they wrote "Rick Horton." Dan's also done infomercials and stuff, using other names.

The Brewers are annoying. Period. Their fans are worse. Celebration is one thing. Choreographed celebration is over-the-top in my opinion. I just thought it was stupid. But it's the Brewers. What did you expect?

Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I wanted to give my view point. I'm a Cardinal fan, but I come in peace. From what I've seen, I doubt Tony leaves after this year. He seems content, the Front Office finally listened to him, he seems to like his players and they listen to him. And he has said that he is willing to work without Dave. If Dave leaves, I see Marty Mason possibly being promoted. Duncan is another story. I doubt Dave Duncan stays here. For one, he seems steamed about the Chris situation first of all. Secondly, Dave seems to feel that he has no say in what the front office does or how they draft or any of that. For those reasons, I could certainly see Dave leaving. I kind of expect him to. Will Dave go to the Cubs? I doubt he'd want to oppose Tony. If anything, I could see Dave going to the west somewhere. He's from Arizona. And maybe he could go somewhere that would give him more say in who they draft and sign. I don't see Tony ever going to the Cubs. I think he understands the hatred between the teams. Even though the fans here have treated Tony badly in the past, I don't think he'd want to alienate them like that. When Edmonds signed with you guys, Tony encouraged fans to boo him when he came back, because he's a Cub. I just don't see Tony going to the Cubs. The rivalry is just too harsh for that. If Tony and/or Dave were to go to another team in the Central, I could see them going to Cincinnati. Having Walt Jocketty there certainly would be a draw to them. But Rolen is there, and next year too I think. So if Tony did leave here after this year, I doubt he would go to Cincinnati while Rolen was still there. Bottom line, it sounds like Tony is happy here and will probably stay at least one more year. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Dave leave. But I don't think he'd want to play for a rival against Tony. I'd hate to lose either of them, but I think Dave is gonna speed out of here as soon as his contract is up (after this year). It sounds like Tony will stay. Who wouldn't want to manage Albert Pujols?
