  1. I don't believe so. If the Cubs order 10,000 rolls of toilet paper today, but don't pay for it until next year; it's still an expense for the year. The liability is a balance sheet issue. When the Cubs file this seasons tax return, Pena is a 10 mil expense.
  2. Updated first post for Garza/Marshall/Wood/Soto/Hill signings and Gorzallany trade
  3. Any truth to the rumor that the Rays also threw in a one word trademark, and we will be the Devil Cubs in 2011?
  4. It's a coin toss. No better waiver options? If Petterson is healthy (Farve may now be game manager) or Williams is healthy. Go with Matt.
  5. If it's a PPR I'd stick with Welker this week. V-Jax is in condition and will be a big part of the offense going forward though.
  6. Check this morning. It looks like it was corrected overnight. 35.05 last night, 41.05 this morning for me (we have supersized defense scoring in my Yahoo league)
  7. Took a flyer on Romo this morning, dropping Dallas
  8. Floyd is still hurting and with a MNF game you need to drop him from consideration. Harvin is definitely #1. Coin toss on the other two, I would lean towards Maclin as it seems Austin isn't being targeted as much as Bryant/Whitten since Romo went down.
  9. Woodhead (matthews likely out, wells still hurting) Tamme and Williams
  10. You should be happy with V-Jax. SD is going through their normal second half surge, they can't run the ball, and Rivers has been unstoppable. The reports say he's in great shape. I would wait to see how he's used in week 12, but he should be a WR1 the rest of the way. Moss is a wait and see the next few weeks to see if he's more then a decoy. But Tennessee has some good playoff matchups.
  11. Rotoworld take: WEEKS 14-16:SCHEDULES TO FEAST ON 1. DENVER: at Arz, at Oak, vs. Hou -- Knowshon Moreno was an excellent buy low while he was injured. Brandon Lloyd and Kyle Orton are showing no signs of slowing down, this just confirms their value. 2. TENNESSEE: vs. Ind, vs. Hou, at KC -- Kenny Britt is worth hanging on to in deep formats just in case he makes it back for that Week 15 game. Chris Johnson is still right there with Arian Foster and Adrian Peterson, and this schedule probably puts him ahead. 3. OAKLAND: at Jax, vs. Den, vs. Ind -- Owners can only pray that Darren McFadden stays healthy long enough to get 20+ touches in these games. Zach Miller is getting healthier and remains a TE1 asset as we look ahead. 4. ARIZONA: vs. Den, at Car, vs. Dal -- This is a good schedule to run against, if Beanie Wells ever gets his act together. The plus weather is also a good thing for Larry Fitzgerald. 5. JACKSONVILLE: vs. Oak, at Ind, vs. Wash -- We’ve seen what David Garrard can do to plus matchups. Maurice Jones-Drew only has three rushing touchdowns so far, but he’s a good bet to end with closer to 10. Only road game here is in a dome. 6. WASHINGTON: vs. TB, at Dall, at Jax --Good schedule, but not loving any players here. Backfield about to get real crowded, can’t trust Donovan McNabb. 7. TAMPA BAY: at Was, vs. Det, vs. Sea -- LeGarrette Blount, Mike Williams are two rookies to own. 8. ATlANTA: at Car, at Sea, vs. NO -- Michael Turner remains an excellent buy low. 9. BALTIMORE: at Hou, vs. NO, at Cle -- Potential bad weather in Weeks 15 and 16 make this good, but not great. WEEKS 14-16: SCHEDULES TO AVOID 1. JETS: vs. Mia, at Pit, at Chi -- All three games figure to be slugfests in poor weather. 2. GIANTS: at Min, vs. Phi, at GB -- Despite all the injuries, the Packers defense is still elite. 3. MINNESOTA: vs. Giants, vs. Chi, at Phi -- The dome games help, but three very good defenses here. Note that Tarvaris Jackson is also likely to be under center at this point. 4. CINCINNATI: at Pit, vs. Cle, vs. SD -- More potential for horrible weather. Will be hard for Carson Palmer and company to pile up those garbage time stats here. 5. HOUSTON: vs. Bal, at Ten, at Den -- Arian Foster has proven he is matchup proof. Worry is if Matt Schaub will make it to the end of the season. 6. CHICAGO: vs. NE, at Min, vs. Jets -- That game against the Jets during the fantasy Super Bowl is bad news for Jay Cutler and the entire passing game. 7. NEW ENGLAND: at Chi, vs. GB, at Buf -- The Patriots offense leads the league in points per game, but there isn’t one player I’d like to have for this stretch outside of Tom Brady. WEEKS 15 and 16 ONLY BEST MIAMI: vs. Buf, vs. Det INDIANAPOLIS: vs. Jax, at Oak DALLAS: vs. Was, at Arz TENNESSEE: Hou, at KC DENVER: at Oak, vs. Hou WASHINGTON: at Dal, at Jax ARIZONA: at Car, vs. Dal WORST JETS: at Pit, at Chi CLEVELAND: at Cin, vs. Bal GIANTS: vs. Phi, at GB PHILADELPHIA: at Giants, vs. Min CHICAGO: at Min, vs. Jets MINNESOTA: vs. Chi, at Phi http://blogs.rotoworld.com/Fantasy_Football/2010/11/best_and_worst_fantasy_playoff.php
  12. 10 Team PPR League Rodgers Bradshaw, McCoy, Forte, Greene Fitz, Bryant, Maclin, Moss, V-Jax, Knox Gates, Whitten Bironas Balt, Cinci, Dal 1st round bye is a possibility if I win this week or as low as last seed. Trade deadline is passed. I'm planning on dropping Knox and Dal for a backup QB and RB, finding a playoff kicker, and tinkering with defense. Any suggestions for targets?
  13. No. With Gates out in week 9 he had 2 catches for 23 yards (though both were touchdowns). I wouldn't bank on the scoring to continue with their top receivers getting healthy.
  14. Gonzalez by a nose
  15. Wait till Saturday, then make a decision. If he's not practicing, then it's a gamble. I have Gates too, but lucky enough to have Whitten as backup (well not last week)
  16. Gates if playing is a nobrainer. Make sure he's practicing first. Being a MNF game you may want to go with the alternative if there is a possibilty he won't play.
  17. The guy with Bowe in my league put up over 200 points. It's PPR and we have 3 individual defensive players, but that's freaking impressive. He had Bowe, Orton, Charles, another 20 point RB, and a 20 point defense from this week. The guy I lost to put up 160, but he had Brady, Roddy White, and Andre Johnson and that was basically it. Vick was my backup, but somebody dropped Whitten after a few weeks. Seemed like a good idea at the time. So I started Whitten and the KC defense. 4 points between them, and lost by 25.
  18. I was Vick-temized and shot with a Bowe. Ouch
  19. 1 PPR League: Starting Fitz, Maclin, McCoy, Bradshaw, and Forte But have a bench of Moss, Dez Bryant, Knox, and Shonne Greene. Am I thinking straight? I also have Rodgers on bye and have Cutler as backup. Should I add Troy Smith, Cassel, Pennington, or Young (plus McCoy/Kitna/Farve all available)? I like the Smith matchup, but he may not even start.
  20. Current contract status: A year or less? Ramirez - 2012 club option for 16 mil or 2 mil buyout. NTC expired 2010 (1 mil more if traded), but has 5-10 rights Fukodome - Free agent in 2012. 15 team no-trade list Silva - 2012 mutual option for 12 mil or 2 mil buyout Grabow - Free agent in 2012 Samadzija - Club options for 2012/13 for 3/3.5 mil. Under club control regardless of whether options are picked up. Full NTC for 2011 Wait till next next year? Zambrano - Signed for 2012 for 18 mil. Full NTC. Earns 2013 player option for 19.3 mil if he's in the top 2 in Cy Young voting in 2011 or top 4 on 2012 and healthy at the end of 2012 Dempster - 14 million player option for 2012 Byrd - Signed for 2012 for 6.5 million The gift that keeps on giving? Soriano - Signed 2012 - 2014 for 18 mil each. Full NTC
  21. Deferred salaries are accrued to their original year, it's just a liability on the balance sheet. Agreed on arby amounts, though Gorz is first year arb eligible so the increase won't be significant. I'll adjust.
