Most people think Dick Baveta cooked the game for stern. And i forget his his name, but the nba ref who got caught fixing spreads, said a message came from stern to make sure the series got to a game seven. I dont know if that is all true or if it was just a horrendously officiated game. Lakers got whistles they had zero business getting. All sacto big men were in foul trouble by the third quarter, not just on Shaq power moves but on stuff like run through screens, moving pics, offensive fouls; stuff like that. The lake show shot like 25 fourth quarter free throws. Bill walton was memorably pretty critical of the officiating. Fix or no fix, Sac deserved the series and the whistle cost them.

Which makes me think of those Kings teams that were so good but never got a ring. They got completely jobbed out of one, and got knocked out in 7 games the other two years that core was intact. They were awesome. Webber was dominant. Mighty Mouse was great, peja, vlade, hedo, bobby jackson, doug christie. That team was stacked. eta: i got bibby and damon stoudamire confused there.

They had a ton going on inside. They also buried a pretty damn good laker team in the playoffs. Prime Shaq, prime Glen Rice, emerging kobe, and solid rotation guys Rick Fox, fisher, big shot bob and some others i think. Rodman woulda been like 40 that year, and the Bulls were having tougher and toufher times in the postseason. Maybe Jordan/Pippen had the magic for one more, but i dont think so. Pippen's rocket team was dismantled by LA that year.

Im not endorsing the breakup, but I dont think even a Jordan/Pippen bulls was gonna stop that Spur squad. They rolled through the playoffs like it was nothing.

Obviously you didnt watch the NBA TV special on that team. They were badass. That was a George Karl squad.

If michael jordan is in control of that roster, I am confident we are getting a high-end lottery pick at the end of the protection period.

If the Bulls see something in Butler (who has only played organized ball for like 6 years) then they should not include him in any deals, because as people have said he is a throw in. For some reason our front office wanted him over Marshon Brooks who we could have easily traded up and taken, and for whatever reason that was Id liek them to stay the course on their plan for Butler. Like the guy who is saying that Jimmy Butler is a legit trade piece, while knowing he is wrong about Butler being a trade piece, I too believe he has potential and could be good. On another note, id like to ban the comparison tool of "a poor man's _____".

That Knicks team that made the Finals sucked also, but that was in a strike year. Whoa. That Knicks team was sick. LJ, Spree, Houston, Camby, Charlie Ward and Big Sexy. And Ewing played most of those playoffs. The game after ewing went down; the larry johnson 4 point play followed by the LJ symbol and then delivered the takbir to a terrified jim grey was one of the best moments in NBA history. I hate the knicks but I liked that team because of Camby, Ward, Spree and Johnson. The team Lebron brought to the finals as a 21 year old was absolutely pathetic.

He's a prospect with a far higher ceiling and chance to be a solid rotational player. The only reason he isn't showcasing it is that he's buried behind Deng, Brewer and Korver. Then why did he last until the 30th pick? Where was Jeremy Lin drafted? Where was Arenas drafted? Nobody would say that not being a lottery pick means you cant prove the teams wrong and have a great career. To have trade value you need to have proven you are a true talent, or you need tangible proof of your potential (measurables, college/international career) which translates to being a top pick. Up until two weeks ago Lin had zero trade value. As of right now, Jimmy Butler has no value and thats the main point. Other than our Charlotte pick, we have no real draft picks of value either. Simply put Noah/Butler/Picks is not nearly enough for one of the best players in the game.

Really? Butler too?? That was just my best guess at what the Lakers would be looking for in return. I'd much prefer to keep Butler. I think he could develop into a poor-man's Deng. Wow. Doesn't mean he's worthless. He could be a solid a bench guy; gives you 15-20 minutes with a good PER. I think he is saying Noah and Butler for Pau is not anywhere close to a fair trade for the Lakers.

I like deng but would sell high on him given a deal hat makes sense and knowing we are deepest at the 3. Deng is not Scottie on defense, he's pretty good. This doesn't make any sense. How are we deep at the 3? Brewer has shown these past few weeks he is not a starter, and Jimmy Butler has barely played. Just because Deng isn't as good on defense as one of the greatest defensive players of all time doesn't mean he (a) isn't extremely valuable and (b) likely not replaceable on the trade market. I'd trade him for Howard (if he signed an extension), but © trading him for someone like Melo is more of a lateral move, in my opinion. I would assume we would get a 3 back in any Deng based deal, so ronnie and korver remain depth at that position. (a) Im not saying deng isnt valuable, but I think hes about as valuable now as he is ever going to be. (b) you are overrating Deng as proven by ©. No general manager in the NBA would give you Melo for Deng, they are not even close. 8 months ago Deng + Noah was the debate for Melo and now you think Melo for deng alone would be a lateral move? Thats insane. You guys have really fallen in love with Luol...

Without rip, Ronnie has played the 2. But with a healthy rip 3 of 9 rotation players are pure 3s.

My point is "Deng as elite defender" is a relatively new event. Here's his April 2008 draft express defensive scouting report: Defense: A quality defensive player who uses his length to get his hands on bad passes. May not be the best athlete, but his footwork and length make him a formidable matchup. Usually draws the opposition’s toughest assignment, which makes the things that he does on the offensive end all the more impressive. Maintains a good stance and shows solid lateral quickness when defending the ball. I think thats a fair view on Deng's D. And I stand by Deng's D being overrated. Hes an all-star having a pretty bad offensive seaosn.

Disagree. Yeah, everything about that post is incorrect. None of it is. (i) If you have Luol Deng as 'untouchable' youre just stupid. (ii) no defender can stop lebron, those two have a massive history playing against each other and Lebron meets or exceeds his production against the bulls, (iii) none of us can prove the superior on ball defender, but it was Brewer who guarded Lebron down the stretch in last years series, and brewer had a lot of success in huge situations. (iv-v) Appreciation for Deng's defense has skyrocketed since Thibs became our coach. Before the last year, I dont know many, if any, Bulls fans who didnt want out of Deng's contract. And not that it means much but i dont believe Deng has ever been All-D team recognized. Deng is a really nice player, but this would be a great time to sell high on him. Hes having one of the worst (non fan voted) all star seasons ever. Hes just not a great player and shouldnt stop you from pulling the trigger on getting a great player in return.

Id absolutely deal Deng if the right trade presented itself. Its not like Deng can stop Lebron, and I think Ronnie is a better on ball defender anyway. Deng's D has gotten ridiculously overrated. He wasnt known as a eraser until Thibs emerged.

How could Kobe, a veteran of 15+ years, demand a resolution to all trade rumors. Hes been through some big deals/near deals, how does he not get how this works. Kupchak cant resolve the rumors unless, (i) he pulls Pau off the table or (ii) accepted a deal right now for Pau. He really cant do either. He needs to move Pau or Bynum, and takign whatever deal is their now makes no sense with 2 weeks to go before the deadline. This is kinda like his preseason refusal to meet with Mike Brown becasue they didnt hire Shaw. When did star players begin to think they are GMs? This isnt the way it is in any other sport, and its a recent phenomenon in the NBA.

The fact we have the best record in the NBA while having very key injuries and playing 20 road games is very impressive. Huge credit to the balance the front office has given this team. The CJ, Brewer, and Korver signings to go with the Taj pick is great work. Taj might be the second best big man in his draft (extreme guard heavy draft but still).

Players like tough couches when the team is winning and dislike tough coaches when the team loses. Thibs has been a great coach for us and if Howard wouldnt want to play for him it speaks lowly of Dwight. I understand his frustrations with Van Gundy, who is an idiot, but Thibs is not. I dont believe the quotes from that bleacher report, because Howard (all year) has been getting on his teammates and coaches publically. Also, I believe Dwight is an extremely hard worker and have no idea why he has a problem with a long session or shootaround. Any player who would stay away from the Bulls because of Thibs is an idiot.
