  1. Yikes, this is going to be over pretty quickly.
  2. That was ridiculously easy.
  3. how is that possible given my homering on this website over the past 8 years?? Have you read the article on Grantland about SEC pride?
  4. Grossman, McCown and Hasselbeck. [expletive].
  5. I just don't get the Dolphins being projected to improve that much on offense.
  6. FO has released their projected DVOA and postseason odds report. AFC East: New England AFC North: Pittsburgh AFC West: San Diego AFC South: Houston NFC East: Philadelphia NFC North: Green Bay NFC West: San Francisco NFC South: New Orleans http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2011/2011-dvoa-projections http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/playoffodds Some weird stuff in there. KC going from 13th in offensive DVOA to 25th. SD going from No. 1 in defensive DVOA a year ago to 31st. And apparently they are big Reggie Bush fans because Miami is projected No. 9.
  7. I'd feel a lot better if Hoomanawui was playing. I think it would force the Eagles to play more nickel packages and let Jackson run all over them.
  8. If you stick your wiener in a pencil sharpener, it won't last long. I have to go Pedro 1999.
  9. Fingers crossed. Rams receivers will be completely over-matched by the Philly secondary, but this will allow Lance Kendricks to begin his ascent as the greatest tight end in NFL history. He's going to eat up the weak Philly linebacker corps.
  10. Oh, what the hell. I have 10 teams, but this is probably my best: QB: Vick, Kolb RB: Bradshaw, Gore, Moreno, Tolbert WR: Calvin Johnson, Colston, Manningham, Garcon, Rice TE: Witten, Kendricks K: Henery D: Baltimore
  11. Hey, I'm rooting for him to do well (except when he plays Missouri) so I can say "boy, I knew him when" but for three years in high school he played against extremely weak competition and stood around waiting for receivers to get open like Tom Brady in 2007. I just don't think he's going to be very good.
  12. Just in time to intercept about 6 of Jordan Webb's pass attempts in the season opener. I still can't fathom that Webb is the starting quarterback for a major conference team. If you mean at this point in his career, I agree. If you mean, ever...I think it's kind of a silly POV. He was a 3 star recruit, and he's not wholly untalented. He was the #28 pro-style QB in his class, ahead of QBs taken by Stanford, Fla St., and a few other ACC schools. But he's not the kind of guy who should be starting as a RS sophomore. He's the kind of guy who should be able to step in 3, 4 years in the program, after he's developed physically. Unfortunately, he's the best we've got at this stage. He has allegedly improved his strength and arm. I watched Webb on and off during his high school career and never got the sense that he was a BCS conference quarterback. He was heads and shoulders above everyone in his area and had been since he was a sophomore, but I never thought he'd be half the player he was against defensive linemen that weight over 200 pounds. Maybe next year he'll really take off, but I think he's a backup who owes his scholarship to playing cupcake schedules and having one of the best head coaches in the state.

  14. I'm a pretty big Ubaldo fan, but going over his Fangraphs numbers, it looks like he's either injured or has hit a wall. Someone made a joke on FG about him being Scott Kazmir.
  15. From Jonah Keri's footnote at Grantland today:
  16. Your last sentence reminded me of a scene from "The Wire" when Cheese told the young'uns to fall back and watch how an East Sider grinds.
  17. If the majority of professional blowhards are rallying against Harper because he's consciously playing a villain, then I'm on his side. There's nothing more ridiculous than a bunch of sanctimonious wankers crying about morality and Playing the Game the Right Way™
  18. The program is going to be so fucked. Better get that dump truck full of cash to Brad Stevens' house.
  19. Is there any way Haith doesn't get fired now for being too toxic?
  20. Oh well, the guy we got to play 1B instead of Thome outperformed Thome from 04-09. Hee Sop Choi wasn't THAT good.
  21. Yeah, they have an amazing pitching staff.
  22. I remember being terrified the Cubs were going to sign him for the 2003 season. And I never knew he was such a stand-up guy. Great moment.
  23. The Phillies are amazing, but it's pretty funny to see them paying Ryan Howard $25 million for an .840 OPS, .357 wOBA and -12 fielding (+/-). 1.5 fWAR.
  24. Davearm, I think he's being literal.
  25. I am loving Lance Kendricks.
