Just in time to intercept about 6 of Jordan Webb's pass attempts in the season opener. I still can't fathom that Webb is the starting quarterback for a major conference team. If you mean at this point in his career, I agree. If you mean, ever...I think it's kind of a silly POV. He was a 3 star recruit, and he's not wholly untalented. He was the #28 pro-style QB in his class, ahead of QBs taken by Stanford, Fla St., and a few other ACC schools. But he's not the kind of guy who should be starting as a RS sophomore. He's the kind of guy who should be able to step in 3, 4 years in the program, after he's developed physically. Unfortunately, he's the best we've got at this stage. He has allegedly improved his strength and arm. I watched Webb on and off during his high school career and never got the sense that he was a BCS conference quarterback. He was heads and shoulders above everyone in his area and had been since he was a sophomore, but I never thought he'd be half the player he was against defensive linemen that weight over 200 pounds. Maybe next year he'll really take off, but I think he's a backup who owes his scholarship to playing cupcake schedules and having one of the best head coaches in the state.
