  1. I greatly fear what this move will mean for Murton. Sitting on the bench for half a season could be very detrimental to his development.
  2. Lots of interesting arms going for the Cubs tonight...
  3. Dunn really isn't a bad LF, so I don't see it as a lock that he ends up a 1B/DH. People tend to assume big guys are butchers, especially in the outfield, but it isn't always so. Moot point anyway - I really don't think Cincy trades him inside the division.
  4. Being a 6'10" lefty who throws 96 might have something to do with it. Being a 6'10 lefty who throws 96 got him a 4.21 ERA in High A ball. How does a 4.21 ERA in High A turn into a 1.93 ERA at the major league level one year later? No one saw this coming. Hendry certainly didn't. Did you say to yourself, "Deeg, that Sisco and his 4+ ERA in A ball sure looks good, I bet he would be the best middle reliever on the team"? Of course you didnt. I didnt want him unprotected either, but I dont see how you could predict such major league success so soon. No - but given that we're falling all over ourselves praising a prospect almost five years older (Hill) for what he's doing in AA, that's really beside the point. We could have kept Sisco and let him beat the crap out of FSL hitters, and yes - I did think he had a good chance of being an impact pitcher. Huge lefties with great arms don't exactly grow on trees.

  7. Why would the Royals want to give anything up to keep Sisco on the minors? He's their best pitcher in the majors right now.
  8. Sisco's line tonight: 1-1-0-0-3. ERA for the season is 1.35.
  9. That's not a bad idea. Anyone have it? I believe its "IhiredDustyandImstickingwithDustycomehellorhighwater@97andcounting.com".
  10. Where exactly is the downside to someone like Koronka (and he's just one example) being claimed by another team - unlikely as that would have been?
  11. Any debate on this topic comes down to a simple point for me. Whatever else you think about leaving Sisco unprotected, any argument in favor falls apart when presented with the guys they chose to protect instead. Even if Sisco never pitches another inning in the majors it was still a dumb move, given the facts as they stood at the time.
  12. Judging by the quotes from the Cubs, sounds like they expect Walker to be out for a very long time (torn ligament, in other words). I hope that's not the case - he's a fantastic competitor, his bat will be sorely missed, and Hairston's elevation will severely weaken the bench. But at least it'll likely mean Corey out of the leadoff spot. I understand why Rusch didn't hit Lee - you risk a wild pitch, and moving the winning run to third. But the Cubs better plunk him the next time we see the Brewers.
