  1. Best twitter account on the planet.
  2. Who is more popular in Colorado than Arenado? Or did you read that wrong? Yeah, read it wrong sorry - though that referred to Bryant. That said, there’s absolutely no way Arenado is the most popular Rockie ever. Not even close.
  3. He's not even arguably the most popular player on the current roster.
  4. I can't imagine the Cubs bite on this without Arenado waiving or amending some of his opt-out flexibility. If he wants out of CO badly enough that's something he should be willing to do.
  5. Occam’s Razor would imply that if we think the FO is sharp, if they did do that trade either: 1. They don’t think Nolan is just slightly better moving forward 2. It’s not such a big contract after the Rockies throw in cash Certainly 2 is part of the equation if it happens. But there's also cost certainty beyond 2021 and getting under the cap this season and resetting the penalties for PTR. There's also the fact that (as usual) people are undervaluing defense. Bryant has slipped to (maybe) average at 3B - Arenado is historically great.
  6. I don't think what the Cubs did - or didn't - was much relevant to who wins the World Series.
  7. I'd certainly push the Padres for a "best and final offer" before trading Bryant anywhere else.
  8. Not factoring in the draw that Kipnis is a nice Jewish boy from Northbrook, he's actually not a bad hitter if you strictly platoon him. My bigger concern is that his defense has declined as you would have expected for a MIF approaching his mid-30's, and he's a liability with the globe at this point. And his bat, even against righties, isn't good enough to compensate.
  9. I think your 5% is extremely generous. There may be a 5% chance a trade to the Braves happens, but that doesn't mean this scammer had any inside knowledge of it. Unless the source has whiskers and uses the litter box, I ain't buying it.
  10. I’m not sure outside the Cubble that two years of KB is worth much more than 1 of Betts. Mookie is a much better player.
  11. Whoever loses the Mookie sweepstakes may be the only possible market for Bryant.
  12. I do think the Reds are quite there m personally.
  13. Or any other season. Only the sort of move you make if you've basically given up. Not a good baseball player and has the same flaws our roster was already riddled with.
  14. Theo seems to be on a mission to improve baseballreference’s traffic.
  15. You're right about there being very few "sure things" when it comes to the bullpen, but taking castoffs from teams that need relief pitching too might not work out either. Like I said, hopefully we'll get lucky, but that Iowa shuttle will be busy this year. They did it last year with Ryan, Wick and Wieck. I have faith they can figure it out with another 1-3 guys this year given the quantity and more flexibility the bullpen options have vs last year (almost all have minor league options left so they can get aggressive with shuffling through). You were happy with the bullpen last year? There's nothing wrong with stockpiling LIAB guys with options in the hope that a couple of them will come through like Wick. It's when you're depending on them to be the staple guys in the pen that you're inviting disaster. And counting on a guy like Wick to be able to sustain his success - as much as I like him - is a big gamble in itself. As for Ryan and Wieck, the former wasn't actually all that great and the latter was far too small a sample size to draw any conclusions about.
  16. We'll always have that time Kemp was called out on one of the worst strike three calls in history.
  17. Yeah, but he’s a shill too, to be fair.
  18. Now that the Tuffy Gosewich domino has finally fallen, look for action to really pick up.
  19. Ken Rosenthal ‏ Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago More Source confirms: #Rays getting Jose Martinez, Randy Arozarena and a Comp A pick from #STLCards for Matthew Liberatore, a catching prospect and a Comp B pick. First reported: @JeffPassan.
  20. Kemp, Descalso, Almora and this horsefeathers are all going to be on the opening day roster, aren’t they? Probably all in the opening day starting lineup.
  21. Yeah he’s largely been the same player every year since then. I get being worried about the injuries but he isn’t really a different player now vs 2016. Maybe he’s lost a little speed. 2015-2016: .285/.378/.524 .385 wOBA, 143 wRC+, .240 ISO, 11% BB, 26% K 2017-2019: .284/.390/.511 .382 wOBA, 147 wRC+, .227 ISO, 12% BB, 21% K You can debate that on the offensive side, but his defense has certainly declined and the metrics bear that out.
  22. At this point I don't think it's unreasonable to guess that the "we'd love to extend Bryant but Boras" thing is a PR story to give the Cubs cover when they intend to trade him under any circumstances, because the real priority is getting below the LT.
  23. Chatwood still has negative value and since we’re basically punting 2020 at this point, the most logical thing is to trade Quintana and give Chatwood one of the rotation spots hoping you can flip him to a contender at the deadline. The only way he gets traded now is if the FH is desperate to get under the LT and hasn’t been able to trade Bryant to get there, but I suspect you’d have to add someone like Roederer or better to get a team to eat the entire salary.
