    Ludwick is 4th among most ABs by any Cardinal players and 1st among outfielders. That too after he was out to DL for 15 days. Ludwick will stay with Cards next year regardless of who the manager will be.

    So here's this: I can see 'em winning 8 of the next 10 and getting that confidence back...sweeping teams and taking 2 of 3 from others. Rockies play 6 against SD, 3 against LA, 3 against SF, 3 against ARI, 3 against MIL and 3 against STL. If they go 10-12 rest of the season, Cubs will have to go 19-5 to force one game playoff. Is it possible? Yes. Probable, No. But crazy things have happened so....

    Braves hold a club option on Tim Hudson for 2010 and it's widely speculated that Braves won't exercise that option. Would the Cubs take a flier on him? I would love the Cards to sign him for a one year incentive-laden contract and a club option for 2011.

    Run rate is everything in 20-20. The significance of wickets is greatly reduced, but if you can save four fours into twos in a match, you've shaved .4 per over off the rate, which is pretty significant. That format is still so new that the strategy is still evolving, but I can see a day where teams have a defensive specialist or two in the lineup for that reason. This is actually true. Even in 50-over cricket defense have became a major factor in selecting players. I am not saying a guy who is solid in his defense and doesnt know how to hit will make the team (Aka izturis). I am saying defense is certainely one of the main factors in selecting a player.
