  1. As said, Harbaugh will wait 1-2 years to get an NFL HC job. Damn good coach, also a huge douche of a person.
  2. I'm glad your kids had a good time, but I disagree with the Guzman/Blanco statement. They are in no way required to acknowledge you. I can completely understand any Pro athlete wanting to be left alone, and it doesn't seem they did anything hurtful. Anytime an athlete does what Wells/Hill did it should just be seen as a bonus IMO; they are certainly not required to do so. Though if there's more to the Blanco/Guzman encounter, feel free to tell.
  3. I'm not trying to be mean or troll or anything. And I would say the same thing about any team. But in response to the people blaming Bartmann or Gonzalez. Championship teams overcome that. A Championship team overcomes an error, or Bartmann's play.
  4. Northwestern? If so, see you there. On a personal note, I'm so glad the CSU/CU game is on a Sunday this year... Colorado State & Northwestern are my 2 teams, and I hate when they play at the same time (rarely happens b/c of time zones) thus me missing one of them live. Jon, if you do get NU season tickets, were you at the Smashing Pumpkins event before the Illinois game?
  5. Depends on what you mean by "better" More impressive achievement is how they were discussing. But I can't think of a definition that would make me think Kerry pitched a better game that day than Buehrle did yesterday I think a 20K no-hitter (yes, to me it was a no-hitter) is more dominant than a perfect game. A perfect game has happened 18 times in MLB history, a 20K game only 3 or 4 times. And didn't only 3 balls reach the Outfield in Wood's game? An odd thing if you've ever watched a replay of the game is how few there are in the stands. It was less than half-full, 19000. Empty seats everywhere.
  6. Yeah, what was up with that? He just shouts "Alexei!" and then starts yelling "YES!" for a few minutes. And it's not only the horrible call, it's also the way he yells "yes". It was the most annoying "yes" I've ever heard, I don't even know how to explain it. And after his Wise call "MMMEEEERRRCCCCYYY" I feel really good for DeWayne Wise though.
  7. Pudge hasn't had an OPS+ that wasn't below 90 since 2006. Hell, it hasn't been above 100 in 5 years. Kaz is even worse(74). Wandy + Oswalt is a nice 1-2, but the rest of the rotation is below average and clinging. Bullpen is good though. Not saying they can't win it, but I wouldn't rank them higher than 4th in the NLC.
  8. At Shibe Park, why does it appear there are dozens of rows of people sitting in front of the fence, and cut off by a rope? Was the rope holding people back the new HR fence then? The new HR distance would look pretty short considering how close the OFers appear to be to the fans. That fence has pretty sick dimensions though.
  9. He was not viewed as highly throughout the offseason, and what was said above. Hindsight is 20/20, but the move would not have been popular at the time.
  10. First, get the ribs from Dave's BBQ stand. They're not expensive, and very good ribs. And if you make another trip during the game for food, stop by Rocky Mtn Oysters. The series should be close to selling out.... We've had a lot of fans there lately.
  11. Kopecky is a 4th liner...which is what the Hawks signed him to be. Not sure where you think Kopecky was given a chance to be on the same line as Hossa and Datsyuk in the past. He was given some PP time when Holmstrom was out, but that is all that I remember. His job then was to park his can in front of the goalie. I dont think anyone thinks Kopecky is a top 6 forward. When Kopecky was getting ice time again later in the season, he did have some time on the top lines. He did spend parts of a few games on the same line as Datsyuk and Hossa, and he did nothing outside of one game. After the 4th line, he is worthless. He has no ability, and no hockey sense. He tries to compensate for this by hitting guys, but too bad they have no effectiveness. Hell, he falls over half the time. The best part of last season was when he went into a fight, forgot how to take a punch, and then after the game said "I didnt know the guy was a lefty". I love Marian Hossa, but if Kopecky wasn't Hossa's buttbuddy the Black Hawks would have never signed him. I guess it's fine if he just plays on the 4th line the whole year, and I could see why the Black Hawks signed Kopecky if they thought it would oddly help them land Hossa. But, I doubt he'll be playing on the 4th line all year. It's inevitable the lines will get switched up, and he'll be playing with higher caliber players. If so, that would hurt these guys, and I bet you guys will be making fun of Kopecky by the end of the year.
  12. For anyone with Big Ten Network and CBS College Sports Station, they have a barrage of games from last year playing all morning. Just had Penn St/Iowa (which knocked PSU out of the NCAA Tournament) and Butler/Louisiana St. Now, they have Ohio St/Northwestern and Northern Iowa/Purdue. All were good games for those interested in catching some College Basketball now.
  13. Eh, I think this year is more of an abberation offensively. Defensively, he's usually pretty horrible(look at his UZR every year), and makes a lot of dumb mental plays. A good team shouldn't be bummed they lost out on Felipe Lopez.
  14. Obama has thanked Russia for contributions Russians, such as yourself, have made to this country and nation's capital. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/24626.html
  15. Is there another example of a player in the NHL riding another's coattails than Tomas Kopecky to Marian Hossa's? Seriously, WTF? Kopecky was given so many opportunities to be on a line with Hossa and Datsyuk, and he couldn't do anything. He stinks. Black Hawks fans will figure how much a fraud this guy is this season. Madden will be the defensive forward that makes a difference on their team.
  16. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/royals/v-print/story/1332649.html I suggest you read the article as it is a good read, but there is no way possible I can prepare you for what you are about to read from GMDM:
  17. I'd like to bring up Trey Hillman. Everyone that has payed attention to the Royals knows this guy is the ultimate failure at Bullpen Management. If you keep track, this guy has screwed up so many Lefty/Righty matchups where he obviously payed no attention to a hitter's or pither's splits. But this weekend, the Royals were swept by the Rays. In all 3 games, Tampa Bay came from behind in the 8th to win it. In spite of these high leverage situations in all 3 games, Hillman didn't bring in Soria once. I'm have no belief in a manager making an impact on a team, but this was an example of a manager costing his team 2 games.
  18. lol http://deadspin.com/5318020/well-that-was-anticlimactic
  19. Flashback to John L Smith meltdowns.
  20. The White back drop with pinstripes combo with the home uniforms is nice. The alternate uniforms are terrible. The away grey's look bad because of the purple pinstripes. It's embarassing everytime we try to go sleeveless. The gray makes the home uniforms very slick IMO.
  21. Oh come on, it's the Pirates' from '99. In all seriousness: Home: Rockies, Cubs, White Sox Road: White Sox, Red Sox, Dodgers These used to be good, until the pathetic Dbags needed to change their uniforms every year in a failing marketing attempt. Slick color scheme with the white and purple. Solid logo. The grey road ones somehow didn't have the same touch though.
  22. Not as jawdropping, but still astonishing: Whiff % Cutter: 37% Splitter: 39% It's got to be very rare to find a pitcher with 2 pitches in a full season that each elicit a swing and a miss circa 40% of the time.
  23. Richmond did beat Duke a couple of years ago, but Duke has gotten a lot better. There have been dreams of a bowl game this year for the first time in a long time. I would be very surprised. When I raised the possibility of Richmond over Duke, it actually wasn't a slight at Duke. I raised it because I know how good Richmond is. I saw Duke play 3 times last year, and nearly beat the 4th best team in the Big Ten (on that real [expletive] ACC Internet station- forgot what it's called). Cutcliffe is a real solid coach; he reminds me of Grobe. Call it blind faith, but I'm still intrigued by UNI over Iowa. I'm skeptical Iowa will be more than an average Big 10 team to begin with; and if Moeaki (sp?) and Hampton don't play, I don't see Iowa scoring getting to 25 on UNI. With that said, UNI would have to play a near-perfect game, and turnovers for them would be detrimental. Iowa has played UNI 3 times since 1995, and has scored on average 48 points. you dont think Iowa will score 25? Northern Iowa has a lot more talent now though than they did in either of those 3 years. Farley changed the talent level in that program. In the only year Farley was a coach where they played Iowa, Iowa did win 45-21, but Iowa had a ridiculous point differential that year. They finished 7-4 (with bowl loss to Florida), but lost their 3 closest games including one on a fluke onside kick (Northwestern game). Point being while Iowa did take UNI behind the woodshed, it was one of Iowa's better teams that was a typical 9-3/10-2 team. If Hampton is out, I don't see much of a running game for Iowa. And if the TE Moeaki (sp?) is out, the passing game doesn't have the running game to set itself up for like last year, and there are less weapons. I don't think the Defense will be as good this year either. They lost a near-shut down CB, and some vital DE's. I'm just skeptical of Iowa as a whole, and don't see them better than 4-4 in the Big Ten. I think Iowa is 14 PTS better on paper with those reported injuries to the TE and Hampton, but I'll bank on an upset and pick UNI.
