  1. While I think some of Stan's thought process is definitely counting on bounce back years from the players you mentioned, I would argue that the Hawks are slightly more talented this year. They are a tougher team to play against due to their increased size. They should have more scoring from the 3rd and 4th lines (really like the Frolik/Bolland/Bickell 3rd), Brunette is a really nice piece added that not a lot of people are talking about and we have a ton of depth on the blue line. This all goes to hell if Leddy doesn't take the next step or we have last years Keith/Hammer.
  2. He's pretty much the next Milton Bradley of clubhouses amirite?
  3. Hmm, recovered almost a full month ahead of schedule. :-"
  4. Jamal Mayers is penciled in at C unfortunately.
  5. They made a run at Max Talbot and even saw a rumor that the Hawks were front runners at one point but the Flyers swept in and got him with a 5 year deal. Just reading about that. One of the guys I wanted was Ville Leino just signed 6 years 27m for Buffalo. Happy we didn't make that move if 4.5 was what it took
  6. It's really embarrassing how badly our bullpen is mismanaged. Just. it hurts to watch:( I"m going back to NHL free agency
  7. Interesting that Sopel or Campoli's names really haven't been swirling around today. I'd still really like to see them address our center depth, unless they already had a conversation with Sharpie and he's comfortable being our center for 2011
  8. Hawks sign Jamal Mayers. Mouth breather from San Jose. 550k. Him and John Scott can spar
  9. His cap hit is just 38k less than Keiths. Wow Shea Weber should be asking for more than Brian Campbell money. Doughtry as well
  10. Wiz getting 6 years at 5.5 makes 2's and 7's contract look like all time steals
  11. Sure. Obviously the local beat guys like Kuc and Sassone. The Hawks official twitter. Follow @2ndcity hockey, @the1tab, @cheertheanthem, and then I just go through people they follow/ask questions too and follow them as well. It's definitely not an exact science or anything, but I eat up all these hockey rumors. So little work is going to get done today it's not even funny
  12. Todd Bertuzzi I believed was actually charged for assault for his hit on Steve? Moore.
  13. 11m for 4 years for Montador. 2.75 hit
  14. 99% of it is just noise unfortunately. Kind of fun following it today and the speed in which you can get rumors with Twitter is unbelievable.
  15. Rumors are getting crazy. Seen a few tweets/blogs suggesting Hawks and talking with Boston. Shipping Hammer their way for one of their 5 quality centers
  16. While poor Nick Leddy wastes away. I'd bet a whole 5 bucks than Leddy starts the year on the 2nd line. Stan think he's going to seamlessly replace Campbell's transition game, so he's a natural pair on the 2nd with a stay at home guy like Hammer.
  17. Oshie just got extended with StL for 1 year. Best part about Montador is that he's not John Scott or Nick Boynton. He's an upgrade over both of them and will likely be paired with Campoli on the 3rd line. Really hoping they take a run at Ville Leino.
  18. Waiting for The Onion article that says Cleveland needs to forfeit it's 1989 World Series due to this scandal
  19. Lots of rumors swirling around. From what I'm seeing it's all but a given Sopel returns. He lives in Chicago, wife has a store, wants to retire a Hawk and will basically play for peanuts and bottles of Aleve. TJ Oshie is the latest rumor. He's an RFA with the Blues which means we would have to be willing to eat some draft picks to get him. Less than $1,034,250 None $1,034,250 - $1,567,043 Third-round pick $1,567,044 - $3,134,088 Second-round pick $3,134,089 - $4,701,131 First- and third-round picks $4,701,123 - $6,268,175 First-, second- and third-round picks $6,268, 176 - $7,835,219 Two first-round picks, second- and third-round picks More than $7,835,219 Four first-round picks I'm guessing Oshie would be signed for a hit between 3.1 and 4.7. Closer to the 3.1 I'd assume the Blues would match, closer to the 4.7 we'd probably get him, but lose the picks and would probably be overpaying a bit. I am intrigued about the Toews/Oshie reunion though. I'd throw in an offer of 3.5 or so and see what happens
  20. I've found rumors that he's in some sort of rehab. It could be some combination between too drinky, drugy, sexting and texting. Hopefully he's focused on his game this offseason. Kop. just got a 4 year 12m dollar deal from Florida. The market is so out of whack that Richards is going to be like 20m per
  21. http://www.buffalonews.com/city/columns/bruce-andriatch/article470652.ece Feel good story about #88.
  22. Was speaking more personally than his on ice abilities. We could do worse than Sopel as the 6th/7th d man as long as we are paying him as such.
  23. Richards is going to get a mega deal from some team that'll pay him well into his 40's. Not going to happen. Unless he's willing to come here for like a 4.5? or so cap hit, which is considerably less than his last contract which paid him 7.5 cap hit. He's not going to get that again, but I'm betting some team will pay him around 6 I loved Brouwer. Admittedly more than his production, at least this past season, warranted. Very sad to see him go. I've stated multiple times that I believe he's more of a victim of Q's line juggling more than anything. I really don't like how our forwards continue to get smaller and smaller. StanBo needs to address this. As far as Campbell, Nick Leddy isn't ready for 2nd pairing minutes. Obviously guys in Rockford are less prepared. Puck moving' defense men are what we have an abundance of in our system, but I have serious doubts about their readiness to contribute for 20 minutes a night. Maybe he couldn't resist the opportunity to get rid of that contract or get rid of one of Tallon's mistakes. The phone call Stan's hearing? Campoli's agent letting him know that his price just doubled. Not impressed with Stan in least at this point, but going to wait at see how he attacks free agency before I'll bust out the pitch fork
  24. StanBo said he's confident we can resign Sharp this off season. Insert how sexy he is joke here
