  1. Me too. Fortunately we caught them right as their season was collapsing. Still, 2 out of 3 is huge. And I’m just noticing we got only one hit. LOL. Oh well these guys killed it on this run. Didn’t lose any ground on the Brewers in the three days which is all that really matters.
  2. Holy horsefeathers, I love this guy. The only thing he's tweeted about more than the Cubs is Texas Roadhouse. https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=texasroadhouse%20OR%20roadhouse%20from%3Achisoxfanmike&src=typd&lang=en There are like 100 of these: I thought after stumbling onto this that this had to be satire, but he has tons of pictures of him actually eating at Texas Roadhouse, too. He seems to genuinely love Texas Roadhouse and his Sox.
  3. Actually, this guy is amazing. Bring me everything he's ever done. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. We've spent far too much time discussing a tweet from Bizarro World Jamfan.
  5. Once PTR sees how much he's spent on wine this year, it's sure to be the end of Drinky Joe.
  6. lol... If you google image search for *duke silver gif* you'll start getting a bunch of Mad Men gifs when you scroll down. You can also find this gif: ... which was posted by Cubswin11 in response to me.
  7. The magic number shrunk by two last night. It now sits at 8. Alright. Alright. Alright. There's been some chatter about Christian Yelich winning NL MVP. Javy's had enough of that talk. Yelich has had a nice little season for the Brewers, but Javy's still waving at him from atop the standings. Javy is intent on knocking the lights out on the Brewers' divisional hopes. The league office was hellbent on keeping the Cubs out of the playoffs with their handling of the schedule. But they learned quickly; when you mess with the bull, you get the horns. Chili Ball wasn't working, so the Cubs decided to start donging again. The Cubs can still win out and get to 100 wins. There's been a lot of talk up north about the Cubs' window closing. But it's been just that: talk. The Cubs' stranglehold on the division is going to last forever. Let's get one more in the desert before we head home to celebrate. And remember... If you gif it, dongs will come.
  8. No, still press to win games through the weekend Hamels pitching and they should score runs even with Gore in lineup A better idea might be starting one of our 13 actual major league hitters.
  9. That seems like a bit of an overreaction. I know nearly all of the innings came against the Reds and we really shouldn't be planning on Jorge de la Rosa shutting people down in the playoffs, but the Cubs bullpen hasn't even given up a run since Strop went down, in 8.2 IP. And I'm not sure if I'm ready to completely write Carl off just yet. He's had instances in the past of completely losing it and then reversing course and finding his groove again. And he has a 2.72 FIP and 2.39 ERA this year. Also, Justin Wilson has a 2.85 ERA this year. And Mike Montgomery will be added to the playoff bullpen, as well. It's not what we hoped to see, for sure. And our bullpen is definitely now one of our weaknesses. But it's not quite "Our starter has to pitch 8 innings" bad.

  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnVrSZHnvYY The Cubs got a big win last night against Patrick Corbin to stay 2.5 up in the division. The magic number to clinch the division is down to 10. The Professor led the way last night, only allowing a solo home run in the 9th before departing one out shy of a complete game. More importantly, the bats finally came back to life. Kris Bryant and Javy Baez both donged as the Cubs scored more than 4 runs for the first time in over a week. Perhaps Chili's signs got lost in translation coming in from the dugout. Javy hit a laser and admired the hell out of it. Nothing new for Javy. El Mago's left the opposition wondering all year... For the rest of us, it was a welcome sight to see KB finally show off his dong. Now one can't help but envision a fully-healthy Cubs lineup as the playoffs roll around. The Cubs are going to win this one easy. Double digit runs. Multiple dongs. The SuperCubs are about to be back. Trust Drinky Joe. He's got this. And remember... If you gif it, dongs will come.

  14. 18 swinging strikes for Kyle. 2nd most in his career.
  15. Let's recap the Cubs' last two weeks: The Cubs started off the September homestretch by losing 2 of 3 to the second-place Brewers. They went to D.C. next, started playing Friday night and spent hours in a rain delay before the game was postponed. They showed up to the park the next morning and spent a couple more hours in a rain delay. The finally started playing and then got swept in a doubleheader. The got rained out again the next day. They went home and lost 2 of 3 to the Brewers again. They then went back to D.C. for a day and used 9 pitchers in what was supposed to be an off-day and lost their closer for the rest of the season. They came home and scored 5 runs in a series against the Reds. And now they are back on a plane heading to Arizona to face the pitcher who ranks 3rd among all MLB pitchers in fWAR before they finally get their first scheduled off-day in a month on Thursday. The Cubs wasted a golden opportunity at moving 3.5 up in the division on Sunday, losing 2-1 to the lowly Reds. The brand of baseball they've played the last couple weeks has been ugly. They can't hit. They're all getting injured. They're relying on a bunch of 40-year-old pitchers plucked off the scrap heap. The bats have been the biggest problem. The Cubs haven't scored more than 3 runs in the first 9 innings of a game since September 8 (which came in a loss). It's time to take drastic measures to get the offense going. They need to do whatever it takes to keep the bats warm. Maybe it's more time in the batting cage. Maybe it's asking for help from up above. Maybe they need to emulate Ben Zobrist. Why Ben? Whatever it is, the Cubs are going to figure it out. The bats are going to get hot, starting in this one. I can feel it. The Cubs are going to get to Corbin and get to him early. This will be the RD Game we've all been waiting for. Somehow. By the time Thursday hits, we'll all be wondering...
