  1. And we don't have to see Kershaw in this upcoming four-game set...
  2. Strop had thrown 1 pitch since Wednesday, letting him face one hitter to stay sharp is a good compromise to me. Yeah, if in blowouts we solely use Richard, he'll pitch 450 innings this year.
  3. Should have hit it softly, like the other guys, Ben.
  4. It's Ian Rice and he's going to be a [expletive] stud. I remember there being a funny story behind Eloy's walk up music, but it was just the Starlin dominicany sounding stuff. But yeah, they really poured it on. Eloy looked really good. Good bat speed, and really seemed to control the zone/swing at good pitches. Martinez very patient, and looked weirdly like a combination of Addison Russell and Starlin Castro. Physically, he looks the part though. Got a foul ball. Gave it to a kid a few rows to the left of me. Dad comes to say thank you, his kid earned these tickets from some fundraiser, and promptly slipped me a $50 Hooters giftcard because he apparently owns one or something. So, sweet. Also, the mascot stole my wallet and wouldn't give it back unless I kissed him on his bear cheek, so that was a little weird. And here, enjoy a grainy Eloy single complete with me holding the camera the wrong way. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo] Great game report, I know. You were sitting right about where I was sitting the two times I went to a game earlier this year. And the mascot was relentless in messing with me, too. I went and sat behind the fence in left field for the last two innings of the second game, so as to not be tormented by Stu any longer.
  5. South Bend is pouring it on. 13 runs scored already. That whole lineup has been relentless lately. The opposing starter was Jon Harris, one of Toronto's top pitching prospects, and first round pick last year. He had a 0.83 ERA entering the night -- not so anymore. He had a rough night. 4.1IP 9H 8R 7ER 4BB 1K Eddy Julio Martinez has 3 walks. He's done a much better job of controlling his strikeouts and walking more, after a really poor start in that regard.
  6. Zagunis homer. Ian Rice has hit two homers for South Bend.
  7. Yu Darvish is making his return tonight. And he is currently mowing down the Pirates.
  8. Ugh... how did I miss Hawk calling this?
  9. I am hoping for 8 shutout innings from Lackey tomorrow, so that all of our starters will have sub-3.00 ERAs.
  10. Our team BB% is under 12%. This is unacceptable.
  11. Well, that helps. Get a K here. You don't deserve an earned run.
