They are pretty damn close in terms of may numbers. Zobrist defenders will say his OBP was almost .500 and had a higher overall OPS. Murphy defenders will say Murphy had a higher average and slightly more power, as well as struck out less. Zobrist in May: .406/.483/.653/1.137, 6 HR, 7 2B, 25 RBI, 16 BB, 16 K, 25 R Murphy in May: .416/.424/.673/1.096, 7 HR, 8 2B, 23 RBI, 2 BB, 12 K, 17 R I personally think Zobrist should have won it, but I don't think its laughable that Murphy won it The on-base advantage is way more significant than any slight advantages Murphy had in BA or SLG -- that's like one double falling in. Zobrist holding a .059 OBP advantage is much more significant. He was on base quite a bit more.
