  1. Also, this is why we are going to have such a ridiculous record. Even the games where the offense can't scrape anything together, we are still probably going to win because our starters throw shutouts every time they take the mound.
  2. Lackey was such a great signing. He's giving us ace stuff, and we don't have a billion dollars of future money to worry about.
  3. Gleyber, Moncada, Devers, and Happ playing on the same field tonight. That's a lot of talent. Gleyber is 1-1 with a walk and a SB so far.
  4. Our starters, as a whole, have given up a .196 batting average against and have a 0.98 WHIP and a 2.38 ERA.
  5. To be honest, Butters' games weren't even that fun. It was just nice to win some games after struggling for a bit. Mojo brought the heat. Let's see if treebird can join him.
  6. That was almost a quintessential 2016 Cubs Game. Great pitching. Lots of grounders and weak contact. Limited the walks. A smattering of K's. The defense was sensational and made several highlight reel plays. The offense was relentless and donged. The only thing we were missing were about 5 or 6 more walks, which could have made it a double-digit romp.
  7. Kyle Hendricks' current MLB ranks: fWAR: 16th RA9-WAR: 29th ERA: 25th FIP: 14th xFIP: 19th
  8. I was really hoping for an Addi bomb so all the struggling guys could get some. Alas... maybe this weekend.
  9. Rizz Dong! Oh if he and Heyward can both break out...
  10. schwarber ones over the other one will be too What I would give to see one of those this year.
  11. Kyle Hendricks: Staff Ace or Slightly Worse than Arrieta?
  12. They are pretty damn close in terms of may numbers. Zobrist defenders will say his OBP was almost .500 and had a higher overall OPS. Murphy defenders will say Murphy had a higher average and slightly more power, as well as struck out less. Zobrist in May: .406/.483/.653/1.137, 6 HR, 7 2B, 25 RBI, 16 BB, 16 K, 25 R Murphy in May: .416/.424/.673/1.096, 7 HR, 8 2B, 23 RBI, 2 BB, 12 K, 17 R I personally think Zobrist should have won it, but I don't think its laughable that Murphy won it The on-base advantage is way more significant than any slight advantages Murphy had in BA or SLG -- that's like one double falling in. Zobrist holding a .059 OBP advantage is much more significant. He was on base quite a bit more.
  13. I wouldn't know where to start. I have no idea what I am looking at with a swing. Other than that I think his looks ugly, and it didn't look as ugly today. are you referring to the quieting down of the toe tap that the Cubs Related blog posted about a few weeks back or something more? No. The toe tap looked the same to me. I am talking more about what is going on with his hands and other stuff in close to his body. Like it didn't seem as herky jerky to me those first two at bats when I typed that. It seemed smooth. Usually it looks like his hands and arms are going in different directions or something. I don't know. It just looked more under control.
  14. For real, though, after a dong, now I'm starting to wonder... I wouldn't be upset if you wrote an article exploring the idea. I wouldn't know where to start. I have no idea what I am looking at with a swing. Other than that I think his looks ugly, and it didn't look as ugly today.
  15. oh my god Javy is giving us the full Javy Superstar Experience today. It's too bad those days only come like once every other week...
  16. For real, though, after a dong, now I'm starting to wonder...
  17. Schwarber celebrating is awesome. Not sure if you can see him on the Cubs feed.
