  1. Ol' Drinky Joe, you've done it again.
  2. You sure did a hell of a job limiting Almora and Russell in big spots in this one, Joe.
  3. Nah. Bad pitching and some poor luck. 4 walks and only 3 K's. 3 doubles and a homer. Some rocket lineouts. Against good pitching, too.
  4. I'm going to be very upset the next time I see Almora in the lineup against a good RHP.
  5. Get someone on base in front of Javy.
  6. horsefeathers this stupid park and this stupid team.
  7. Smart idea by Javy not allowing anyone else to touch the ball on a rundown.
  8. If Almora bunted and Billy Hamilton was standing at the wall in center, could Hamilton field the bunt and throw to first before Albert got there?
  9. I'm on record as being very "meh" about the Cubs moves. Had Theo traded for Adrian Beltre and tried to play him at short, I would have called him a brain genius, too.
  10. what the point in even talking to you of you're going to willfully miss the point like this. What is the point? Not enjoying our success is how we should behave?
  11. do you think that their dumb cockiness contributed to the WS wins I think they had reason to be cocky.
  12. We know how much egg those post-2004 Red Sox fans got on their face after their team won 2 more World Series and had 6 90-win seasons in the following decade.
  13. I already gave the in-depth of why it's bad. They went from the 2015 Royals to the 2017 Cardinals. this is so bleacher nationy that im surprised that goober hasn't posted it as a headline yet I've got the article already written if Brett would like to post it.
  14. It's bad because it's bad. hell yeah the kind of in-depth horsefeathers i like I already gave the in-depth of why it's bad. They went from the 2015 Royals to the 2017 Cardinals.
  15. The one with Manny Machado in it. this type of analysis is sooooooo bad. Whether or not they got Machado has 0 bearing on whether they improved or not, and people keep shifting back and forth between "actually it's bad because their defense got worse actually it's bad because it wasn't the most efficient use of their resources actually it's bad because ummmmmmmmm." It's bad because it's bad.
  16. I think they are similar, they get their value differently but are close. Especially if the comp is going to be Villar the 2B vs Schoop the SS. which IF do you prefer? Shaw/Arcia/VillarPerez or Moustakas/SchoopArcia/Shaw? Now put yourself in the mindset of a GM who knows the first one isn't good enough to win the division. The one with Manny Machado in it.
  17. horsefeathers now they're going to lose the efficiency olympics too? That's kinda what people judge at the deadline. It is pretty obvious they were going to be buyers and improve their team like nearly every contender did. I think they did the worst job at it this year.
  18. Also, upgrading from Arcia and Villar or whoever was possible without moving guys all over the field. They could have traded for actual middle infielders. They also could have still added a starting pitcher. Even if they got better, it is a strange and inefficient route to get there.
  19. Definitely. Stearns must have hired away Keith Stone in the last month.
  20. I haven't really done that. I'm sure I made fun of them for not doing anything of substance at the deadline last year -- which might have been smart since they finished one game out of the Wild Card. But I thought the Yelich move was a great move. I praised them for it. I thought the Cain move was odd, since I thought they should have focused more on pitching. That move is working great for them now. But it remains to be seen how it will look long-term. Mainly I've been critical of him taking half measures. The galaxy brain stuff is normally reserved for their fans. But he's went full brewerfan.net poster this deadline.
  21. You and Duke are hilarious. Shaw is plus at 3B, obv too soon to tell at 2B but the Brewers value defense and appear to not be a dumb FO so there's at least some faith he can pass there. Moustakas has been a plus 3B this year and every year except last. Schoop is going to be not good at SS but the bat is heating up and if the point is to improve as a whole, the Brewers did that. Hopefully as a small market team they pull a Pirates and they have a brief window that snaps shut very suddenly, but the nonstop jokes at their expense is hilariously transparent from both of you. They are winning much the same way we are: Getting 5 innings out of their bad starting pitching because they play elite defense and can limit run production in those five innings. Then they hand it over to their elite bullpen to shut things down. (They, however, have a middling offense. But that hasn't mattered.) It just doesn't seem smart to expose that starting pitching by playing a bad second baseman at short and a 240 lb. third baseman at second. Moose and Schoop aren't even that good. If they got worse defensively by adding Manny Machado, it would be a different story. But they had an identity and it was helping them win games. They were somewhat 2015 Royal-like. Now they are throwing all caution to the wind to get incrementally better offensively.
  22. When you have a chance to add in a .306 OBP and a .273 OBP, you have to take that risk.
  23. Am I allowed to make fun Galaxy Brain Stearns for trading more for Jonathan Schoop than it would have taken for Manny Machado?
