  1. I'd say the majority of MetsRefugees thinks that's the case too. And it's not, you know, that they built their roster with players who are aging, have injury history's already and their strength is built on a position that has a high attrition rate. But it's the trainers fault for not enough pre-game stretching. Part of the problem is that the team continually lies about these injuries. Like with Syndergaard, they just decided last minute to flip the rotation order yesterday, then today it was because of a tired arm, and then bicep soreness, and then Syndergaard couldn't lift his arm above his shoulder. It's like that with every single one of their injuries. So they've lost all trust with the fan base. I don't think their training staff is causing these injuries. Like you said, they just have a horrible roster full of aging, injury-prone players and a ton of pitchers with extensive injury histories.
  2. So I don't think Matt Harvey was hurt. He actually just sucks.
  3. lol... Matt Harvey was throwing 95 in the first inning and now is 90-91 in the second, and he's walking everyone. Apparently Gsellman was 93-94 early on yesterday and 89-90 later in the game, too.
  4. Nobody has stolen a base off Lester since Opening Night. Base runners have been successful on 2 of 6 attempts on the year against him. That's some serious doom bonery.
  5. They're not quite there yet if they are still worried about us. Syndergaard's going to have to go under the knife first.
  6. yep mostly what i remember about 2014 was the emergence of god mode jake...i think he almost threw a no hitter the start before that almost no no in boston too. then baez call up, which was super exciting at first with that series in colorado and then sad. then soler came up and for the month of september you started to see it turn, which is funny since a big part of that was jorge who wound up sucking. that series in st louis when he just wrecked them (len saying how you could collectively sense the cardinal crowd going "WHAT was THAT after soler's second massive dong) after also hitting a dong in his first AB vs cincy. but i just remember starting to feel what halfway decent and fun baseball felt like to watch again in september (then i think rizzo and castro got hurt which put a bit of a damper on it) Yeah, 2014 was a sneaky fun year. A lot was because we got to watch those new young guys we'd been dreaming of for several years. But, beyond that, there was just an overall sense of "It's all over, all in the past, let's do this." I remember there was a game when they interviewed Rizzo after the game, and he basically said "I'm the leader now and it's time to win." It was nice to be optimistic for once. I say 2014 seems so long ago, though, mainly because we went from losing big to winning big so quickly. 2014 might have been somewhat of a transition year. But as Omar said, 2009-2013 blend together so much. At least for me. I don't know how some of you guys remember so many random details from random games in random years. I have trouble remembering specific plays from last year even, unless I am reminded of them.
  7. 2014 seems so long ago, after all the winning.
  8. What if Bizzaro Left-handed Javy was super patient and didn't swing at bad pitches? haha also, iirc, i even think at some point he said his natural throwing hand was lefty but he switched so he could play infield That's hilarious. I know I've read that he originally swung left-handed, but switched to swinging right-handed because he got hurt from swinging too hard as a lefty.
  9. What if Bizzaro Left-handed Javy was super patient and didn't swing at bad pitches?
  10. I'm not saying Lester didn't suck tonight. It was more the tone of the post. It was too angry. Saying Lester pitched bad isn't a problem.
  11. You might be taking April games a little too seriously if you are calling out Jon Lester, who is coming off a season where he went 19-4 with a 2.44 ERA and then gave us 35.2 IP of 2.02 ERA pitching in the playoffs, while leading us to our first World Series championship in 108 years, including giving us 3 innings in Game 7 on two days rest.
  12. Jon Jay is doing all he can to endear himself to the Cub fan base.
  13. Dude has tried to walk Lester twice now. He is garbage. Please crush him.
  14. This lucky sonofabitch. We better put up like 7 runs next inning.
  15. Eventually ESPN will just be Stephen A. Smith screaming into the void 24/7.
  16. Jason Vosler has hit three homers for Tennessee today. Charcer Burks is 3-5 with a double. Rough starts for Jen-Ho Tseng and Jose Paulino. Zack Short is at it again, with a double and two walks in 3 PA, plus a SB.
  17. Some people said that Jesse Rogers' emergence at ESPN gave him an edge over Saxon in job stability. That looks less true today than it did then.
  18. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered against South Bend. I'm very excited to see him in a couple weeks when I am in South Bend.
