  1. And as far as contact management, Hendricks' GB% is higher this year than last. His average exit velocity is lower this year than last. I think his HR/FB is fluky high, though I can't say that for sure since this juiced ball era is so weird. He could just be a guy that is going to be adversely affected by it. But his main problem early in the year was walking guys. And, since coming back, his two walks today are the only he's given up.
  2. Yeah, the NL average ERA is 4.33 this year. Hendricks' ERA, FIP, and xFIP are all well above average. He's still quite good.
  3. No coincidence she is going into labor 9 months after seeing all those Cubs playoff dongs.
  4. No Strasburg or Scherzer either, right? Tomorrow's starter isn't listed. Sunday, too. Though espn.com says Jaxon.
  5. I'm very interested to see Kyle today. I think he's been mostly good since coming back. And I'd love to see him work deeper into a game to see how his stuff is working in the 6th or 7th on the third time through. Perhaps it's wishful thinking against this lineup, though.
  6. Since coming back to South Bend, Wilson is hitting .291/.371/.570 and has a 16.3% K% in 98 PA.

  8. Baseball Savant must have updated their Statcast numbers. They have his sinker at 90.8 now. Brooks Baseball has it at 91.7. Still, that's a lot lower than he was early in the year. And he hasn't been very good since he's been 91-92. Hard to imagine him holding up all the way through October with his lack of innings lately.
  9. Uh oh. Alex Wood, the former 90 mph soft-tosser that started throwing 94 and pitching better than Clayton Kershaw is no longer throwing 94 and pitching better than Clayton Kershaw. Last five games average velocity on sinker: 92.8, 92.2, 91.8, 91.4, and then 90.2 tonight. He gave up 13 runs over his previous two starts. And tonight he only struck out 2 guys and got only 5 swinging strikes.
  10. .258/.338/.561 since being called back up.
  11. I'd much rather lose like that than watch some horrible game where we play like horsefeathers and lose 3-0 like yesterday, and basically every single game in the first half. At least that was entertaining.
  12. no horsefeathering way did that come from the bench No horsefeathering way? Why would he do it on his own? Or, why wouldn't the bench tell him to horsefeathering stop it after the first attempt? Because he's horsefeathering crazy?
  13. Maybe he figured he had to do something especially crazy to top Goldschmidt. Two-run bunt homer to tie it?
  14. That has to be the first time in baseball history that a guy tried bunting after previously hitting two homers in the same game, right?
  15. This just gives Willson the chance to tie it in the bottom half and win it in the 11th.
  16. I was just getting ready to start a thread about Willson, because he doesn't have one dedicated to himself, while scrubs like Almora for some reason have their own. Then, I remembered my condition. And I'm not going to horsefeathers this up. So someone else needs to start one. Anyway, he's hitting .326/.400/.674 since June 16.
  17. If this doesn't end with Willson pimping the horsefeathers out of a bomb, I'm going to feel cheated.
