  1. The abuse didn't stop in 2003.
  2. QFT It really is still hard to fathom almost four years later. Dusty Baker should really be ashamed of himself. Unfortunately, I'd guess he probably thinks he has nothing to do with this.
  3. That September stretch of pitch counts is mind-numbing.
  4. This is one of the saddest threads ever. :( People can deny that Prior and Wood were injured by Baker's abuse all they want (and Wood even before Baker got there), but I've yet to see anything close to any other reasonable explination other than saying "they're soft". In my mind, the evidence is pretty overwhelming. I'm sorry, but I just think those who deny it just aren't looking close enough.
  5. I would agree is the Cubs didn't have Marquis and Miller in the rotation.
  6. Well, really none of the candidates for the #2 spot have produced so far this season very well. The four people who have played in the #2 slot so far have produced OBP's of .321, .313, .303, and .182 so far. Even if you throw DeRosa in there, that's just .333. I fully expect them to pick it up, but they've all been about the same. :?: Murton has a .375 in the #2 spot. Upon closer review, I guess you probably meant his overall OBP.
  7. I think TT should change his name back.
  8. Until this team figures out how to consistantly get on base (i.e. draw some walks) they're going to be feast or famine.
  9. That's not going to happen with the money that was thrown around in the off-season.
  10. It's just frustrating because it's more of the same from the last few years so far.
  11. In fairness to Marquis, guys with electric stuff tend to walk people. Nolan Ryan had several seasons in which he walked 4 batters or more per game. this has to be the first time Jason Marquis has ever been compared to Nolan Ryan.
  12. score runs, jerks. izturis, start making up for sucking
  13. I wouldn't say I'm worried either...yet. I will just hope that this pattern doesn't continue.
  14. Then I formally request that someone set an exact number of games that have to be played before such concerns can be voiced. That's not the point. There are already threads on this message board dedicated to this topic...it doesn't need infiltrate every single game discussion as well. How stupid of me to ask a question about the starting lineup for this game in the game thread for this game. My bad.

  17. I don't get Floyd starting again. I understood yesterday with his numbers against Williams, but not today. :?
  18. I pretty much agree with that. I just found it alarming that they are going to skip him now. Either put him out there as your 5th starter and see what he can do, or put someone else in there. Skipping him is just delaying the inevitable. Z is the one who is in danger of abuse-if you're going to start him every 5th day anyway, you might as well skip the 5th starter and let everyone else pitch on the 5th day as well. Until a 5th starter option that will be better than the top 4 pitchers emerges, the less starts that spot gets and the more the team will win. But how is someone supposed to "emerge" as the fifth starter if Miller is getting skipped and Guzman is pitching 3 innings (or less) a week? They could be trying to buy time for Prior, but I doubt that.
