I agree for the most part. Howver, I also can't ignore a few of his moves. I'd give Lou about a 6.8/10, a far better score than anything I would give Baker.

Yet he has still been better than Bradley, Fontenot and Soto, and will be better this year than Fox or Hoffpauir would be on the field full-time. Lee might not be "that good" anymore, but why isn't he getting the benefit of the doubt when guys like Fontenot (who wasn't a highly regarded prospect and has never performed in a full-time role) and Soto (who had a mediocre minor league career until he blew up in AAA and last year in the majors) are? Because those guys are making close to the league minimum? Also, the fact he is taking up $13.25 million in payroll this year might have something to do with it. and that's a sunk cost. you don't bench a guy just because he's not performing up to the amount of money that he's making. That wasn't the argument. The question asked why Lee wasn't getting the benefit of the doubt.

I think the bigger issue people need to get over is to stop expecting 2005 Lee. He isn't a 40 HR .330 BA guy anymore and never really was. He had 1 year outside of his career average and people automatically assumed he would/will continue to produce 2005 numbers when he has 10+ years of averaging numbers not nearly as good as 2005. People need to give Lee a break, he is going to hit 18-22 HR drive in 85-100 and bat somewhere between .275-.310 along with GG defense. Not great, but those are fine numbers from a 1B when we should have a deep lineup and we don't need to rely on 1 guy to have 2005 Lee seasons in order for us to win games. Fox will never be an everyday guy. Maybe platoon, bench bat at best. If you are saying that Vitters wouldn't be a everyday guy right now then you are correct. But to say a guy who is 19 in A ball who is hitting .354 with 9 HR and a OPS of .986 doesn't have a chance to be a everyday player in 3-5 years is crazy. Have you seen Lee's road stats this year? I viewed them on another forum. Shocking. He's bad. Real bad.

another thing the 2004 team had huge problems doing that this team also has, so many runner were left on base you know who else left runners on base? the 2008 cubs Yeah, the team that went nowhere. Is there a team that actually wins things we can use as a standard? Thanks.

yes let's trade him for juan pierre, that guy is raking. i'd rather have a guy who is hitting great RIGHT NOW than a guy who is underperforming and hitting line drives at people. Sorry man, this team just can't handle the big show. Just keep your head up guys, and go get 'em next time. If we win,we are getting some Dairy Queen.

The problem *might* have something to do with the Cubs having only one consistent run producer, and that run producer being out for quite some time. The Cubs problems are all mostly caused by the GM. -

I'm sure the Mets are looking to acquire more than a 1B who can't hit anymore. And I'm all for playing Hoff more, but Soto will come around. However, if Lou saying that he'll play Hill over Geo if he doesn't turn it around soon lights a fire under him and gets his bat going, then I'm all for it. But wouldn't you say Soto already is coming around (or even has come around)? His SLG is still pathetic but he's got a .280 BA and .362 OBP in May. Yea thats my problem with Lous comments. Lee has shown signs of life, as has Soto, and now is when he talks about making changes. Lee has shown signs of life for a few games at Wrigley with the wind blowing out. Neifi Perez used to show signs of life in those situations too.

Right. But it is time to look at getting Hoff in the lineup every day, regardless of egos and hurt feelings.

No, "we" didn't. It's been pointed out how you seem to be expecting outdated forms of scouting to help the Cubs when game footage works just fine and you haven't addressed that at all. Mojo, are you under the influence? You completely agreed with my earlier post about this in this exact thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=54186&start=50 Me: I don't have the answers(and apparently neither does Jim Hendry), but these are some things I would try: First I would make sure our advance scouts are up to par. That didn't seem to be the case the last two post season appearances. You: About the only thing you've said that I agree with. The Cubs' scouting, on all levels, needs to be improved. Did someone hack your account or are you arguing just to argue? I'm guessing the latter. After this absurd contradiction, I really can't take your future posts as sincere. The Cubs have done that numerous times the last 101 years. It hasn't worked.
