  1. OMG. He would be the team RBI leader, lol.
  2. Many people kill themselves over less. That's the idea though. Quality over quantity. No question that taking the life of a pet is worse, far worse.
  3. We were also programed to smash each other with rocks. Hopefully we've evolved a bit.
  4. Sleeping around while your wife is pregnant is about the easiest way to quickly and accurately assess if someone is absolutely, 100% a complete douchebag.
  5. No, no it wouldn't. I know you're an optimist but let's be real. This team hasn't won a playoff game together. I think it's time to rebuild and build up our farm system. If someone offers great prospects for one of our players and we continue to look like we have this week, you take the deal in a heartbeat. It's time to rebuild and build a world series champion. Come on. Do you honestly think this team is capable of winning a World Series? Yes.
  6. 1. The team is saddled with no trade clasues. 2. Dempster was given $14 million when an impact player like Dunn was out there. 3. Aaron Miles was given $5 million. That, and that alone should eloquently show that our GM is not thinking in a clear fashion. The change I would like to see is a new GM. Hendry has had his run. He's had a top 5 NL payroll his entire career as Cub's GM and is floating by a fraction above .500.
  7. I would love to pick up Brenly. Lou has made decisions this year that have been completely devoid of any type of sanity. I genuinely believe he might be losing it mentally. The only other reason I can come up with is that Lou is throwing games and I really hope that's not true. Lou has garbage to work with.
  8. I was wild in my youth....youth......grrrrr...urrrrr....aghhh.....grmmmmm
  9. How many times have we said that this season? Frankenstein no like righty on lefty! Lefty smash! Bring in lefty lefty, no smash!
  10. Just Jim Hendry Many people thought that handing $14 million to Dempster when you had a true impact player in Dunn out there was really stupid.
  11. They didn't fail, they didn't even show up. It's not like they won a couple games and lost on a bad call, or even put up a fight for one game. They played the exact same two NLDS's back to back. They imploded defensively, the starting pitching was mediocre and the hitting non-existent. Sorry, I don't remember the teams that lose NL/ALDS's. You aren't implying that the Cubs are 0-6 in the NLDS because they didn't catch any breaks, are you? Because that had nothing to do with it.
  12. If you worked at a company and did well securing sales all year, but then every year at a certain point the contracts fell apart due to your own mishaps, would you call yourself a good salesman? Wouldn't your boss ultimately demote or fire you? I highly suggest anyone, *anyone* who is championing a 97 win season that resulted in getting destroyed in the NLDS please watch this clip. This is how the real world works: You know what you keep telling me? You keep telling me "the leads are no good! But...these leads are no good!" "But...but..we won 97 games!" Who cares! It means nothing. It has no meaning or impact on anything. Gah...we really need to get rid of this lovable loser thing. So many people are apologizing for every little aspect of the Cubs. "But...97 wins!" Means nothing. Close the deal or enjoy the steak knives.
  13. They simply didn't get it done. In the context of 101 years of no WS ring, last season was a failure. Same for 2007. Those were not good teams. I'll agree that they didn't achieve the ultimate goal of a championship. That part is true. Howver, you don't win 97 games not being a good team. That is probably the most asinine statement I've ever read on this board, and that's saying a lot since I probably read every post baseball#### made. No team in the National League won more games the '07/'08 CUBS..... but hey..... they didn't win any rings. They suck. Good teams win playoff games. Cheering and celebrating regular season records while being swept out of the playoffs is desperation. I'm not big on this "gosh gee whiz go get 'em next year guyz" lovable loser mentality. I'm more results oriented. 0-6 when it counted. Not a good team. There's still plenty of time this season, but I honestly don't expect different playoff results with this crew even if they did make it.
  14. Their road trip scoring output was incompetence, not bad luck. A little bit of both. There been games in which they hit the ball hard but right at somebody, and there been games in which they've sleep walk their way through. So, it's a little of both, to be honest. I don't see it. They completely abandoned any kind of plate discipline and swung for the fences. That's just bad playing. You create "good luck" by having good at bats. They didn't. Hitting the ball hard at someone happens all the time in baseball. It's not a rare occurence worthy of noting IMHO. It still falls under the category of "not hitting".
  15. Anything is possible. Sometimes the end isn't a bad thing. The Cubs can turn it around, but they do not seem to be a team capable of competing for a world series ring at this point.
  16. They simply didn't get it done. In the context of 101 years of no WS ring, last season was a failure. Same for 2007. Those were not good teams.
  17. Their road trip scoring output was incompetence, not bad luck.
  18. That gets you *into* the post season, but it is not a measure of you belonging there. Win a championship? What's that? I'd like to win just one game in the NLDS. Check his record as Cubs GM. He really hasn't.
  19. And so far Hendry is barely above even in that department, despite having a top 5 NL payroll his entire tenure. Teams that belong in post season play show up for at least one inning. I've faced the facts, you should to: This is a weak baseball team. Our players are not as good as we think they are.
  20. I think it's time to let go of the 97 win thing. It was a failure. That was a team that got absolutely destroyed in the playoffs and wasn't worth the dinner expenses. They proved in 2008 that they simply did not belong in MLB post season play. You can work hard and stupid, too.
  21. It has nothing to do with Hendry's intentions, but rather the results of his actions. All GM's want to win a world series and be the golden boy at the meetings. That means zero.
