I’d hope not. He’s still owed ~$50 million. Maybe that’s a scenario where the more the Cubs give up, the more KC eats his contract and vice versa. That would be tough to do, though. If they don't give up anything, I can't see how they don't go over the luxury tax this season by getting him. I could be wrong about that. Plus, I can't see us wanting to pay $15 million for him next season and in the future with some big contracts already on the books and, hopefully, another big one coming. On the flipside, I can't see them wanting to give up a bunch of good prospects in order for KC to pay a lot of the money, if KC is even in position to do that.
