  1. Random question for the non-baseball side. I've been slowly collecting signed World Series pictures of the 25-man roster. In the end, do I just finish the project at 24 or do you add Chapman?
  2. Hopefully it’s Tommy being cut, but probably Russell to the DL. Randy could maybe be sent down too. If they would actually send Bote to the minors as the corresponding move, yeah, that would not be acceptable.
  3. Did someone claim him? Dodgers Let's hope they don't get him. That would suck.
  4. Not sure. Have his waivers expired yet? Did someone claim him?
  5. and is red hot right now, and rarely strikes out. he just makes our defense sooo much worse. We are just going to have to hope in that regard, but I think it's worth it for the offensive upgrade and for the fact that when we have late leads, we can still close it down with awesome defensive replacements. As far as rarely striking out, I happened to be watching one of his at-bats the other day against the Cardinals, and he refused to strike out. Worked the count, fouled off some pitches and then got a single. I think that will play for us.
  6. I really don't think people are realizing that the Cubs don't want to keep having to bat Addison Russell this season. It has nothing to do with KB, in my opinion. Also, Daniel Murphy will rank fifth on our team in slugging, even ahead of Rizzo. And way, way ahead of Addison Russell. This is also just purely talking baseball. I don't advocate Daniel Murphy as a person from the public stuff that is known.
  7. This is a much-needed trade for the offense. I know others disagree, but Murphy makes perfect sense. I suppose if you actually don't think Addison Russell is crappy, then I can see it. But, yeah, Addison Russell is complete crap.
  8. If he was claimed by the Cubs then the Nationals would immediately pull him back. We aren't getting someone that good, but I do know the Cubs are looking. Seems like a fake rumor to me. It does seem fake and an odd fit for us.... but why would the Nats pull him back if they can get a little something??? He’s a FA and they’re dead. It makes sense for them to move him, regardless of the team that claims him. Is it odd that I don’t think it’s odd for us?
  9. If he was claimed by the Cubs then the Nationals would immediately pull him back. We aren't getting someone that good, but I do know the Cubs are looking. Seems like a fake rumor to me. They may not immediately pull him back, they'd probably at least discuss a deal if that were the case. Frankly, I don't see him getting past the Brewers if they did try to pass him through waivers. Joking here? What the heck would they do with yet another infielder who can’t play D?
  10. They might have 4,000 followers, but they also are following 5,000 people.
  11. If Russell is hurt it does It makes sense even if Russell is 100 percent healthy. Addison Russell sucks. Put Baez at SS and Murphy at 2B and it helps an offense that slumps way too often. Then put Russell in for defense later in games.
  12. They did become the first in history. Thanks for asking.
  13. I realize every baseball team does this, so I realize this post means nothing, but I really feel like the Cubs have way too much offensive talent to go through so many frequent stretches of absolute crap. That run after the meeting in LA was glorious. All the at-bats were glorious and resembled 2016. Weren't chasing pitches. Weren't just trying to pull everything. We'd get down a couple runs and we'd easily come back. I've already given up on Russell and ready to unload him for anything -- Machado would have been just fine as a return -- but I don't like seeing Willy suck so much and I don't like seeing Happ striking out 40 percent of the time and missing pitches right down the middle. I don't like scoring one run in four straight games. So let's just start dominating, please.
  14. At some point the payroll starts to add up. Sure but more important is the money hasn’t run out. Boohoo the team’s breaking a sweat to the best record in the NL with these three burdens Spoken like a man whose money isn't actually being spent. I hope we get Harper, but man, that has to make them think twice when busting out a $350-$400 contract. They have no choice but for it to go right without starting to seriously hurt, unless they are just going to spend like the Dodgers and then none of it matters.
  15. I’m sure this is confirmation bias but I feel like this team is somehow more frustrating than some of the losing teams we’ve had recently That's likely because when we know we are going to suck or not be good, the frustration level isn't that high because we aren't expecting much. I was never frustrated at all during our rebuild.
  16. Not sure about you, but everything feels a lot better with the game being over.
  17. Oh, I get it. This is a quote taken from an Onion story.
  18. out of all the weird things about you, this is one of them He turned out to be the big winner today.
  19. Cubs suck. Umps suck. Addison Russell sucks. Everything sucks.
  20. It actually makes me wonder if they have the stomach to even sign a Harper this offseason. That’s just silly. At some point the payroll starts to add up.
  21. Almora. I don't care how you have to do it, but you figure out a way to let the ball hit you. Even if you have to dive across the plate.
