  1. Yeah, I have a hard time picturing him crack his knuckles and say, "now it's time for daddy to parlay those 6 strong innings into a high score on Candy Crush." there is no way anyone on the cubs roster would interpret anything jon lester did after that performance as being uninterested in the outcome or whatever passan is alluding to. It's either someone else or passan is just making horsefeathers up. I'm confident Passan isn't making it up, and confident it's not Lester.
  2. Heyward hurt his wrist in between the 2015 and 2016 seasons? He also funked his shoulder up in Atlanta and his swing has never looked the same. The cardinals season was a flukish BA, a home run off arrieta and defensive efficiency he won’t approach anymore admit he ages. He’s a 2 WAR guy who might get to 3 with BABIP luck since he doesn’t strike out. Man, I counted on Theo to forecast all this horsefeathers much better.
  3. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing him later in the game out with everyone, I could be mistaken though. Would Jon Lester even know how to use an iPad? I know he tweets, but I just have always figured his wife does it for him. I picture him with a flip phone or something.
  4. Bryant would never say it if his shoulder was actually a problem. But if this is what he is from now on then yeah, we're toast. Unless its injury, players as good and young as Kris Bryant don't instantly become medicore to bad, Cub or no Cub. This is an overaction, I looked at Bryant' stats - he's really, really good - without question he played hurt this season. It was evident today, look at his follow through on his swing. This doesn't totally go against your point because he never was as good as Kris Bryant, but Jason Heyward did earn a hefty contract at Bryant's age and instantly became medicore to bad.
  5. Honestly, if it wasn't for Braun and Hader, I wouldn't mind the Brewers winning. At least add Keith horsefeathering Stone to the list, man.
  6. Red Sox - nope Yankees- nope Astros - nope Dodgers - nope Brewers - horsefeathers no Rockies or A’s. That will satisfy my apathy for 2018 baseball. Yeah, I was just kidding. We all started saying horsefeathers so and so, so I just wanted to say horsefeathers the A's.
  7. I hope some of you trip and somehow land on your nuts while going to bed tonight. That's why I've taken a huge step back from the Cubs after 2016. The fact that sports can do this to people is dumb. It's pure tribalism. Be happy for the Brewers if they go far. You be happy with the Brewers going far. I will be happy with you somehow landing on your nuts while going to bed tonight. ETA: What you said about it being pure tribalism, I totally agree with.
  8. I have nothing against them. I may actually root for them. Do it for Uecker. I hope some of you trip and somehow land on your nuts while going to bed tonight.
  9. We all love it too much to do that. Hell, Big Slick wasn't going to watch the rest of the season after the Reds came back and scored like five runs in the late innings to beat us in a four-game sweep, and that dude was back the next day.
  10. Thanks. It's fair to not understand it, but I just got really fatigued with this season. I just was not at all enjoying any of this. There were seasons when Sammy was on roids and hitting 60 dongs and we didn't go to the playoffs that were a lot more fun. And that's crazy to say. I accept being judged for this and also ridiculed. I'm just being honest with how I feel. Imagine taking this (and adding in that this was a 95 win team) and sending it to youself in 2012 or something. I honestly thing a lot of the doom and gloomers here enable each other and make things out to be horrific all the time. Now, September and everything after it was disgusting, but this team is still pretty damn good. I hope we get Harper and non-dumb managers and coaches out of this. Quality point. The difference for me is that I've embraced new expectations. I expect us to be the Yankees of the National League with a good front office and a high payroll, and with that, I will be judging seasons not by our horribly managed past, but by the new standard of our present and future.
  11. This times a billion. Without 2016, tonight would have been agonizing and I would have been steaming for three weeks. But with it? Eh. Get 'em next year. Yes. I try to have my own therapy sessions, and I discovered while talking to myself yesterday that 2016 is good enough for me, and that all of my anxiety is actually about the Brewers winning the World Series. I never once asked the Baseball Gods for the Cubs to win two World Series. I asked for one. And then they gave us not just a World Series year, but one of the greatest baseball storybook years ever. I'll be happy to win another one and would like to, but I'm good. It's loser talk, but I'm good.
  12. yep, i'm cool with it. pretty clear that they weren't going to do any damage in the playoffs, not with a patchwork bullpen and an offense that disappears for long stretches. hopefully harper is a cub next year and bryant gets healthy and back to playing like kris bryant. addison russell needs to go, don't really care for what. Obviously the other things about Russell are infinitely worse, but it also sucks that the pieces we could have traded for pitching have pretty much all lost significant value. I think it sucks more that the pieces we could have traded for different bats have pretty much all lost significant value.
  13. What about those who are not happy but relieved? I don't understand that either, but I can tolerate it.
  14. I'm not sure it would have been a bloodbath. Just a bunch of 3-1 and 3-0 losses.
  15. No it wasn’t. Not even close Yeah, I was wrong to say it at the time, but I was already complaining about how boring this season was back in June. We scored 0 or 1 run 25 percent of the time. I have to imagine that is extraordinary for a team that made the Wild Card.
  16. It's never bad to be optimistic. Way to hang in there longer than many of us.
  17. To be fair, we played two more games. Just kidding. We horsefeathering suck on offense. Weirdest horsefeathers ever.
  18. Yup. For the rest of this season, it wasn't going to get better. It truly has been just dreadful.
  19. Maybe the dome roof will break. I think it leaked a couple years ago.
  20. Just following games via game threads, I notice you make an unbelievable amount of predictions. This is not meant to be taken as an insult. It's simply an observation.
  21. Since the Cubs have been part of my life since childhood, I can't help but hope they win. It's just an instinct. But, man, I'm ready for this season to be over.
