  1. This is sort of a heel turn for you. We all have our breaking points Yup. It's understandable. On the bright side, at least they won a game where they blew an 8-0 lead.
  2. Screw that. We are scoring multiple runs this inning.
  3. Listen, we blew a lead in Game 7 in this same inning, and we know how that turned out. We can do this! We will do this!
  4. What should make him jealous way more than Eloy is the fact that we won the flipping World Series last year.
  5. You and 191,000 others who aren't sure why.
  6. Where's the other 24m? Begging Heyward to be a good ex-teammate by opting out.
  7. The Cubs can always rebuild their system by trading Wade Davis now. I know this is a joke, but if they happen to fall out of the race, he actually will help to rebuild it.
  8. Eloy likely was always going to get traded, either now or in the offseason. We needed to get a good pitcher under control at quality prices because there was no way we were going to give big money and years to two pitchers in the same year with Lester still on the books. Plus, I'd rather give the big money and years to an offensive player like Harper.
  9. I feel like two different discussions are going on right here. If the Cubs are four out in the loss column on July 31, they aren't trading Davis. If the Cubs are eight or more out in the loss column on July 31, they sure as hell better trade Davis.
  10. The fact they need to replace those staters you mention might make it even more unlikely they spend an aav of $15 million on a reliever when a lot of money might be needed for starters. We will see. I'd be shocked if the Cubs are out of it at the deadline and don't move Davis.
  11. I'm not sure the discussion was about right now but more if they are 8 games back at the deadline.
  12. We will see. I don't believe this front office believes in giving multi year, big money to a closer. It's why they traded for them instead. And, again, I think they are comfortable putting Carl there and spending less on the guys setting him up. that argument still makes no sense. you have 2 dominant relievers. if you let 1 go, you only have 1 dominant reliever. they're both allowed to pitch in the same game too It's more that they think they can find good relievers for much cheaper rather than paying huge money for the closer title. They had a need before trading for Davis and had no interest in signing any of the three big guys on the market and instead gave up an asset for a guy on a one-year deal. I'll have to go back and check the history of Theo and Jed and see if they ever invested big time money and years into a closer.
  13. Just not sure Theo is interested in big money for a closer. Really think they plan to have CJ in that spot next season. L they play the same position, so carl will still be in carl's spot he traded big assets for short term control of 2 different relievers recently. if he values elite relievers that much, i'd think any unease from a longer term version would be outweighed by the abundance of current payroll flexibility and a desperate need for pitching in the organization. also, i'm sure theo knows that trading a valuable asset for a dominant relief rental each season is not a long-term strategy. We will see. I don't believe this front office believes in giving multi year, big money to a closer. It's why they traded for them instead. And, again, I think they are comfortable putting Carl there and spending less on the guys setting him up.

  15. Yeah, I'm not going to go Keith Law "Paul Goldschmidt is a platoon player" three years into his career. I'm fine with admitting something I said is wrong when presented evidence that it was wrong. I still believe in the Brewers the same as I did then, though. They'll give us a chance if we want to take it. Hope you are right, sir. But I obviously think that prediction will change at some point, too.
  16. Well, this sucks. But respect you for not hanging onto previous predictions out of pride. This also means my prediction doesn't look quite as funny anymore. Predictions can change. When I thought we'd be resting guys for a week, I figured we'd be about even at the All-Star break. Fast forward to us being 5.5 back, and, well, that chops off about a week from when I predicted we'd clinch the division. Those 5.5 games matter. So, yes, the longer we go, and the more ground we lose, I'm not hanging onto a prediction out of "pride." Things can and often do make you re-evaluate what you thought you knew. Before the season, I thought we'd win the division by like 50 games. You said yourself in this thread that you never thought you'd see us at this point at the break. Obviously, things changed to make you change your mind. That said, the Brewers still do suck. Agreed. Just giving you credit for not being stubborn.
  17. I legit didn't realize who you were talking about, then realized I was BDB. First time I've ever been called anywhere near my user name. Please, refer to me as a ninny or that guy.
  18. Whoa. I wasn't aware of this update. Well, you just got it. Things change. Circumstances are different. I haven't changed my beliefs about any teams in the division, but obviously things can change with a month of results. Well, this sucks. But respect you for not hanging onto previous predictions out of pride. This also means my prediction doesn't look quite as funny anymore.
  19. You have enough belief in them to win the division and be resting their starters in the final week. That would be enough for me. That was like a month ago. I no longer have that faith. I still think we can and should win the division. But it's more 50/50 that we even do that, simply because there isn't as much time left and because we are even further behind. I still think the Brewers suck. And I still think we'll eventually play better. But we aren't in the same situation anymore. Whoa. I wasn't aware of this update.
  20. Brewers back to being vaunted after that Yahoo mishap.
  21. If they believed in themselves as much as Duker, David and Bukie believe in them, we'd be fine. You're ascribing way more belief that I have in them than I do. You have enough belief in them to win the division and be resting their starters in the final week. That would be enough for me.
