  1. Damn people, why would anyone care if Lou wants to retire now to spend time with his mom? She's 90 years old and obviously not in good health and i for one applaud him doing it; can you imagine any head football coach doing this?
  2. Grabow will be a card next year and will post an era of about 1.50
  3. Click for depression Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! He dropped the ball! I listened to the whole press conference and as I heard and saw the quote, I heard many things that made me think Ricketts is not going keep Hendry, it makes perfect sense for him to be in full support of Hendry right now with the trade deadline approaching. I also believe the quote was more in the direction of "Hendry will be our GM going into the offseason and will work with hiring the new manager." That quote says specifically that "Hendry will be our GM NEXT year." So u expect him to say something different?
  4. Valentine has won 51% of his games and exactly 1 pennant; why do people think he's such a great manager?
  5. Wow 4 runs on only 2 hits; that's some great pitching :banghead:
  6. Maybe the Cards will hire him!?!? And he will promptly win the World Series with them
  7. How is that possible? To leave 34 on base in 12 innings you have to leave the bases loaded in 10 of the innings; don't think that would happen in the major leagues
  8. Why does anyone even care what Bradley has to say? He was here a year, it didn't work, time to move on
  9. Why doesn't LaRussa catch much flak for all the playoff chokes his teams have had? His pixie dust seems to disappear most of the time during October
  10. U mean passing out?
  11. The fans already booed him every step he took. The status quo was unacceptable. They couldn't just have Milton repeatedly insulting the organization and the fans, refusing to play and fighting with personel. Why couldn't they? You're basically saying that personal feelings and what the fans think are valid reasons for making a decision. When you're making big decisions based on fans and feelings, you're failing at your job. Can somebody find that quote from Hendry years ago about this very situation? It was something like "the day I let the fans dictate what decision I make is the day I am no longer doing my job." Well, that's exactly what he's doing. This season was already lost. Bradley can do or say whatever he wants the rest of the season, it's hurting NOTHING. You know what DOES hurt? Suspending a guy and diminishing what little value he had left. From a business perspective, there was absolutely no advantage of suspending him. NONE. He did it for personal feelings and to please the fans. That's really awful. This isn't about Hendry and his feelings. This is about Bradley acting like an idiot for the entire year. Hendry and Lou pushed for and believed in this guy, and he crapped all over the whole organization. The Cubs gave him 30 million dollars and a 3 year deal. That's how much they respected the guy, and it wasn't reciprocated. If you are going to under perform that's fine. No one can predict how ones going to do year after year, but at least have the class to respect the team and the org. That's not a hard thing to do, and Bradley didn't do it. You can't have a player diss the fans, players, and org and not discipline him. Oh you cant? So then why hasnt Z ever been suspended? Hes punched a player on his own team, hes got into a verbal arguement on the mound with his manager, and hes made quotes this year about wanting traded because hes tired of this....Double standards gotta love them Double standards exist on every sports team, and if you think otherwise you are in denial; hell Jimmy Johnson admitted that he had certain players with more leeway when he coached the Cowboys but he's one of the few coaches with enough cajones to admit it.
  12. If you owned the team you'd have a different view. It's bad business to have anyone insulting your product. You have to have some kind of rules in place or your organization goes really bad in a hurry. The fact remains that Bradley was a bad business decision in every since of the word this year. It's absurd that you think insulting fans and the organization is acceptable behavior. I agree; if any of us trashed the company we worked for in the paper would we even have a job? I'm thinking i would be fired on the spot
  13. Why couldn't this have happened to Miles instead? Geez
  14. Hell maybe Lou forgot Fox is even on the team; judging by some of his actions this year i would say it's possible
  15. You don't know that. Give me one realistic option to put out there that's likely to outproduce Bradley. One. I've been asking for quite a while... haven't seen anybody come up with one. Why don't u give us one then?
  16. That's not something the emotional people are concerned about. They hated Bradley, and they'll cross the bridge of who plays RF later. I've yet to see one reasonable suggestion from them about how to fix the situation. Well unless one of us is hired as GM for next season, it's not our problem how to fix the RF situation
  17. Cards get Holliday and DeRosa, and the Cubs do nothing at the trade deadline to help the lineup; is there any wonder why the Cards are running away with the Division?
  18. Well since it would be a favorable matchup against a sub .500 team, i'm thinking the Cubs could win 1 of 3 agains them
  19. Why can't they get rid of Heilmann and Miles right now? Worst 2 players in the history of the Cubs
  20. I don't think anyone expected that, but he's had plenty of chances to drive in runs this season and has failed miserably; i would have considered 75-80 RBI's a realistic number for him this season and would have been happy with that.
  21. So the worth of Bradley's contract depends on where he's put in the lineup? I don't think anyone here believes Bradley has been worth 10M this year, but to dump him because he wasn't worth his contract this year is reactionary and accomplishes nothing. His attitude should be enough to dump him, let alone the contract
  22. That would be one hell of an outfield combo, wouldn't it?
  23. Prior to 2006, DeRosa was a career role player who was given an opportunity to start in Texas and made the most out of it. That earned im a big contract, that was ill advised at the time. It payed off, and it made Hendry look good. Similarly, prior to 2008, Aaron Miles was a career role player who had a pretty good year last year after getting a lot of playoff time. Hendry thought he could try the same thing, with a smaller contract. We all know how that turned out. Miles was never signed to be a starter, DeRosa was. Not a starter, but a RH platoon partner for Fontenot. Miles couldn't be a platoon partner on a jr high team
  24. Oh well, guess we just have to agree to disagree; i would tend to agree more if Lou would stick him at the 2hole and leave him there, or hell, why not lead him off? He's just not been a run producer so batting him anywhere below 2 just doesn't make sense
  25. Removing Bradley will improve the team also Yep, nothing like getting rid of the guy who is the best at not making outs. That will help a ton. :banghead: :banghead: Any way you cut it, Bradley is not worth 10 million a year; i would like him alot more at half that salary; of course, he's not the only one not worth his contract on this team
