  1. They are allowing teams to take a lead going into the fourth quarter a lot. That is not a good quality to have heading into the playoffs. The Colts have trailed or been tied going into the fourth quarter 5 times this season with a couple of those games the Colts needing 21 points in the fourth to win. You can keep doing that all you want but it will comeback to bite you eventually. Think about it for a minute. Seriously, take a minute. You're acting like they're doomed because they've almost lost a few games. Every other AFC team actually HAS lost games. They've all lost multiple games. The next best team has lost 3. I'd say almost losing is a better quality to have going into the playoffs than losing. Unless your argument is just that there is a chance the Colts lose in the playoffs, then you make no sense at all. Which teams off the top of your head can you think of that have never almost lost a game?
  2. I had Manning ahead of Brees before this game and I still do after. I think he's more valuable to his team, but Brees is having the better season by a decent margin. They're both stupid good, so there's not really a bad choice.
  3. The 2006-07 Colts got Bob Sanders back before the playoffs and suddenly had a defense again. You think they win that Ravens crapfest without him? So this current 14-0, +146 point differential, 5th ranked defense Colts team is going to lose in the playoffs because the 2006 12-4, +67 point differential, 23rd ranked defense Colts team might not have won one of their playoff games without Bob Sanders? My point is when the 06 Colts 'played with fire' they became a better team in the playoffs because they got their best defensive player back. That isn't going to happen this year which makes the comparison invalid. The premise was ridiculous to begin with. Saying that a 14-0 will lose in the playoffs because they've almost lost some games is just kind of stupid. I mean, there are playoff teams, believe it or not, that haven't even won all their games, let alone almost losing some games.

  5. Brees was starting to run away with the MVP, but it looks like Manning's going to make him work for it.
  6. You realize that even if they had lost half of their close games, they'd still be the top team in the AFC?
  7. I saw the review on a Fox game break and it looked pretty obvious to me. You'd be really upset if the Colts got the call. You have less than zero evidence that that is true. SERVED!
  8. who was wondering that???? he's probably having his best year; his yards/game is down from last year because their running game is improved and they're often beating teams so handily in the second half that there's no reason to pass the ball, but he's got his best completion %, by his best yards/pass, his best td %, and one of his lowest int %. Dang dude, that's a lot of question marks. And having a great season is different from being the game's top quarterback. I think most people would question whether or not Brees is at the level of Manning and Brady. Brees has had some really good seasons, but Manning and Brady have been ridiculous for a decade (well Manning at least. Before the past few seasons Brady's stats weren't much better than average)
  9. Shannon Sharpe made a really good point about the Patriots taking out their starts last week. Someone else said it was smart to not risk injury and Sharpe mentioned how the Patriots don't have any problem keeping their starters in when they're the ones blowing the other team out and running up the score. Stupid Patriots.
  10. Steve Young just made the analogy: "what the Patriots did reminded me of when you are kicking your younger brother's butt in chess or something and he just gets mad and messes the board up and says 'forget this!'" Haha, very good analogy. I hate them so much.
  11. I'd rank them Saints, Colts, Vikings, big gap, everyone else.
  12. Saints and Colts have pretty easy schedules left. For the Colts the Titans are playing a lot better but that's a home game, they have to play at Jacksonville so that will be tough, and a few weeks ago I would have mentioned the Broncos as a tough game, but they've fallen apart. And as mentions, the Saints pretty much just have Dallas. How crazy would it be to have two undefeated teams in the Super Bowl.
  13. The Patriots gave up with over 6 minutes left. I'm surprised nobody made a big deal about that.
  14. Yeah, that was neat.
  15. Fox is one of my favorite players and I've been expecting him to have a breakout season like this. I'd love for him to find a spot on the Cubs, but I've always thought the best outcome would be to try and get a decent return trading him to an AL team.
  16. Exactly. When people ask questions like this, it seems like being a sports fan is just something they saw other people doing and didn't understand it.
  17. In my scenario, I also failed to mention whether the run scored or not. I'm just like a predator toying with his prey at this point. More mind games forthcoming.
  18. If he hits a single with a runner on second in a 9-1 game in the 4th inning...is that clutch? hell yeah it is. then we're only 3 runs from slam range HA! I never said the Cubs were losing in this situation. You've fallen right into my trap!
  19. .741 OPS overall, .682 in the last three innings of a game. Only Colorado falls off more: .775 OPS overall, .710 in the last three innings of a game. Are you acting like this is a big problem? Because the Cubs and Rockies are both good teams. Would you feel better if we had worse numbers for the first 7 innings? This is a pretty ignorable stat.
  20. It only makes sense that some good hitters would do slightly better with runners on because the pitcher is more distracted than if the bases were empty. However, as I already pointed out, hitting with runners on is not always "clutch".
  21. If he hits a single with a runner on second in a 9-1 game in the 4th inning...is that clutch?
  22. Let's just say you've lied to me before.
  23. http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad197/scrubmdjd/fox.jpg I think you guys are exaggerating how good that pitch was. It's definitely borderline, could have been called a strike, but it's not a crazy call. The catcher did do a good job of framing it, but the point in the picture is where you hear the ball hitting the glove.
  24. Man, I can't imagine a GM having a much worse offseason than Hendry had. Everything he did was just terrible.
