  1. Posting question marks like that is classic muskat too. Muskat. That was funny. =D> Good stuff. Starting to roll with the punches. Alright! You know who's good at rolling with the punches? Rihanna? ...Wait, no - Muskat!
  2. One of those things is not like the others. racist
  3. We should infiltrate their board, suggest that Boston would make Theo their SS if he stays, and then come back and report it as what Boston fans are saying. And also call their moms whores.

  5. Guess he didn't want to learn anything while he was hear, he just wanted to tell us how we should be acting. Also, I don't think a single person here suggested that we wait a year with an interim GM, I could be wrong though. The consensus is that it would be pretty stupid to do that, and we'd rather move on if the Red Sox vindictively screw us out of Theo. Pay the piper, Cubs! SoSH rules!
  6. She is much better than some. Pathetic that she still has to put up with comments like this. Hello Carrie Muskat Guess cubsclapp must be her also? Simply because he posted a neutral comment about her? Classic Muskat.

  8. I don't care about being right. I just know that if Theo would require giving up our best prospects, I have absolutely no problem with keeping our prospects and going for Rickett's 2nd choice. The choice isn't between Theo and anarchy. wait, what? i was not referring to anyone in particular, otherwise i would have quoted you. i am just as guilty in this thread (as well as everywhere else). and where did the epstein/anarchy bridge get created? You probably should have waited a bit longer there, Pancho. I didn't think you were directing that at me, I was just giving my opinion of what you said. The Theo/anarchy bridge is the one Red Sox fans seem to be wanting to build, acting like the Cubs can't back out now without hell breaking loose. I was just pointing out that I don't think backing out would hurt us at all, whereas it would cause some legit trouble for the Red Sox.
  9. Exactly. It wasn't so much Theo that excited as the fact that Ricketts wanted and was able to convince Theo.

  11. They are delusional if they think Theo goes back to work as if nothing happened. If the reports from Henry are correct, Theo already told them he's done after next year anyway. However, I think some here and elsewhere are a bit off too. Theo is worth more than any single player, especially a minor league player in the Cubs system. Their isn't a difference maker in the tradable players. So, I don't think there is much leverage on either side. I think the Red Sox are attempting to squeeze the Cubs so as to look good to the fan base and media. Theo's time in Boston is over regardless what happens. Problem is, there are other very good candidates that don't require top prospects.
  12. It's less what the fans will think and more how it will actually affect the franchises. It hurts the Sox more.
  13. Ricketts needs to think this through. If Theo falls through, the Cubs will devolve into a Lord of the Flies scenario. There will be nobody left in charge and Zambrano will come back and take over. He will have his way with all of the Cubs wives and feral dogs will take over the club house. So yeah...Boston has a bit of leverage here.
  14. It doesn't matter if stupid Boston fans aren't mad, the Red Sox will look horrible to anyone who would consider working for them in the future. They'll also pay 6.5m for a pissed off special assistant. The Cubs will have an equally or near equally awesome GM that costs less and doesn't require prospects. Cubs win
  15. Ricketts needs to put a stop to these childish games. He just needs to walk into the meeting room using a hunting knife to eat his apple and say, "You assholes have been pantsing yourselves and dipping your nutsacks into kerosene for a week. You either take Casey Coleman and be happy about it or I'll provide you with the candle to squat on and sign my second choice." Mic drop and out. Then the Cubs win the world series...this year.
  16. This leads us directly back to the question I've already asked, repeatedly. If you're saying what I think you are, you're the first to argue the Cubs would be better off keeping their prospects and hiring another GM versus giving up their prospects and hiring Epstein. I think I'm saying basically what a lot of other people are saying. In a vacuum, I'd rather have Epstein than Jackson/McNutt/Szczur But I'd rather have Atlanta guy/all of our prospects/$2m a year than Epstein without Jackson/McNutt/Szczur Fair enough. I disagree. Give me Epstein. You can have the prospects and the extra $2M and other dude can stay in Atlanta or go be someone else's GM. I don't really know anything about the Atlanta guy. I'm just sure Ricketts has more than one guy in mind and with what we've discovered so far, I wouldn't be worried about his 2nd choice.
  17. There's pretty much one person suggesting that it won't get worked out and everyone else saying how stupid he is.
  18. I wouldn't be all that disappointed if we lose out on Epstein. The main thing is that Ricketts really knows what he's doing. I'm sure his second choice would be just fine.

  20. If Boston decides to scare the [expletive] out of anybody that would ever consider working for them and hold Epstein hostage for a year, then the Cubs could keep all of their prospects and go after a similarly awesome candidate, like the Atlanta guy. They'd probably also save a couple million a year on GM salary. I wouldn't be too worried about Rickett's 2nd choice. Ricketts has proven to be very bad ass. Not a terrible position to be in. Offer Boston someone like Jay Jackson and if they decide to shoot themselves in the foot, let them.
  21. So you change your argument from building a new Carmine to Carmine being included in the deal?! I don't have time to go around in circles with your [expletive]. I need to go hit my kids.
  22. Theo commissioned Carmine. I'm pretty sure he can get a fresh one made. Carmine was only successful because it found a way to take intangibles into consideration. It's the Johnny 5 of baseball robots. Good luck! Short Circuit had a sequel, you know. But it was still Johnny 5, dip- [expletive].
