I'm a huge fan of Kurcz. I'd almost put him in the Jackson, McNutt, Szczur category. If they wouldn't have tried him out as a starter (which I wasn't totally against or anything) he would have definitely made it to AA last year. I think he could easily make it to the major league team next year and be our closer by 2013. I might be too high on him though, I just love him for some reason. (The reason is obviously because he's awesome, but you know)

Some of the Padre fans there bring up Darren Balsley coming to Chicago too. Do they know something we don't? As pitching coach or manager? Would be pretty ballsy to bring in a pitching coach before you've named your manager. Is Jaramillo still under contract as well? I think the big reason that Maddux avoids on the field jobs is because he doesnt want to have to have that much time or travel with the team. I think he's enjoyed being at home more since he retired. He's had the ability to come and go as he pleased with his special assistant to the GM title. I'm such a d head. I forgot he was special assistant. I guess I hope he does more than that, or something

I know there has been speculation in the past that Maddux wanted some kind of front office position. I hope he is added to the dream team. Although I still think he would be the perfect manager.

Friedman, Beane, Cashman Possibly Byrnes, Hoyer, Atlanta guy, Cherington, and the Tampa assistant that's supposed to be really good, Hahn to a lesser extent. I don't consider that entire list equal, but I consider every one of them to be at least the equal of Epstein + $13 million (in extra salary) plus McNutt.
