  1. We won't get Peavy without giving up Vitters. Cubs get Jake Peavy Padres get Josh Vitters, Aaron Heilman, Garrett Olson, Jeff Stevens, and Kevin Hart Mariners get Ronny Cedeno and Luis Vizcaino Orioles get Felix Pie Done and Done.... why is this taking so long? There should be an ownership announcement followed by a Peavy announcement 3 seconds after.
  2. Cedeno and Wuertz for Heilman. Pie for Olson. Vitters, Heilman, Olson, Stevens, and Hart for Peavy??? Done!
  3. How do you know if the player got the signing bonuses his 1st year of the contract or if he gets a certain amount each year?? I have the payroll at about 135 million. I got Z at 17.75 not 18.75. Same with a bunch of other guys. You have 1 million added to them for some reason. Is this some signing bonus where they get 1 million each year? Don't they get the signign bonus upfront usually like Dempster will get all 4 mill this year? Unless otherwise states like Bradley getting 2 this year and 2 next.
  4. He probably had it already, the press conference to introduce him is at 2:30 CT. Are you sure it's at 2:30 CT? The article says 3:30. Is it on now?
  5. Gathright will be our 25th man. Theres a few spots on the roster that you fill with guys like that. 1 spot you fill with a good defensive really speedy guy. He can come in late in the game to take over defensively, or pinch run. They are very beneficial. Another spot is used for the backup catcher. Then you need a utility IF (Miles), and a utility OF (Reed), then a power guy either in the OF or 1B (Hoff). I love our roster.... that is if we get Peavy.
  6. Here is our 2009 Roster: 1) Soriano LF 2) Fontenot 2B 3) Lee 1B 4) Bradley RF 5) Aramis 3B 6) Soto C 7) Fukudome CF 8) Theriot SS Bench: Miles, Bako, Hoffpauir, Gathright, Reed SP: Peavy, Zambrano, Lilly, Dempster, Harden Bullpen: Marmol, Shark, Gregg, Marshall, Vizcaino, Gaudin, Cotts Guys traded for Peavy- Cedeno, Pie, Hart, Guzman, Wuertz (unless Vizcaino is traded) Cedeno will not be on our team.
  7. I agree, there's no way we sign someone. A trade will happen, and it will mostly likely be Peavy.
  8. Why won't he make the team? We need a power threat off the bench and a backup 1B. He will take Daryl Ward's spot. Hoff will be on this team.
  9. It's a waste to go after someone like Blackburn or Sonnanstine because they won't do much better than the options we have now. If we're gonna get another pitcher, we need to go all out and get a #1 or #2 guy..... Ahheeem PEAVY!
  10. LOL that line is horrible! All I've been hearing is how good Guzman was doing in Winter ball. I was excited. I guess that's not the case.
  11. There is no way that we don't get another starter before the season starts. Yes we have a lot of candidates to start (Marshall, Shark, Gaudin, Guzman, Hart, etc...) but there's no way that a team who wants to win the world series will go into the season with such a huge question mark in their rotation. Especially when we have some injury prone guys in the rotation already. Do I think one of those guys could do a good job in that role? Of course, but why not actually make your team the best it can be? I don't think it makes sense to sign a starter though. I really don't think guys like Perez or Pettitte would really do that much better than one of the above listed, and especially not worth the 10 million dollars they will probably get. If Lowe cost 10 million, then I think he'd be worth it, but he's crazy and asking for over 15. I still see Jake Peavy as the best possible solution here, and he comes just as cheap as guys like Perez or Pettitte in terms of money. And we wouldn't have to give up ANY guys on our 25 man roster. -Ronny Cedeno will not be on our roster -Felix Pie will not be on our roster -3 CLE prospects will not be on our roster -Josh Vitters will not be on our roster but he is a good prospect -And then 2 of these 3 pitchers (Wuertz, Hart, Guzman) Because NONE fit on our roster right now. It's that easy, and we keep Marshall to be that insurance man if needed.
  12. The article states that the Cubs are probably gonna give Bradley more than the Rays wanted to give him. This makes me think that the Cubs will spend more than 8 mil on Bradley. I bet we give him a 2 year 18 mil deal with a 10 mil team option for the 3rd year.
  13. Aurilia is a righty Good observation.... but too bad he never says Aurilia is a lefty. I agree with Dex. What's all this crap about getting lefties or versatility. Why not just get a good player?? I think Lou has a lot to do with it. All last year he would bad Hendry Blanco against lefties when we had guys like Edmonds, Hoffpauir or Fontenot on the bench. I would rather have one of those guys batting any day over Blanco no matter who's pitching. Lefty/Righty matchups are overrated and it pisses me off.
  14. I don't think that the Cubs are actually serious about getting Lowe, but if they were I don't think they'd be able to afford a FA RF as well. So if they did sign Lowe, then I'd propose a trade like Jason Marquis and $3 million, Mark DeRosa, Felix Pie, and Kevin Hart for Delmon Young. Who knows if MINN would do it, but I'm just saying that marquis would need to be gone, and we'd probably have to trade for a RF instead of signing one. I say we just try and sign Bradley.
  15. Lowe does not deserve anywhere near what he is asking for. He should get a 2 year deal worth about 28 million. But someone will cave in and give him 3 years at 48 million. He's old.
  16. No offense, but if we got Baldelli to be our big RF, then I would be very disappointed. He's more injury prone than Bradley, and no where near as good. Our OF is already pretty full.
  17. ESPN says that Furcal would play short and Yunel move to 2nd. That makes more sense to me. Furcal is pretty good at short, and has the best arm in the MLB, why would they sign him and move him? I still think they trade Yunel though. Peavy will be a Brave.
  18. They Brewers might want Marquis in a separate deal. They NEED pitching. They have Gallardo (hurt), Bush, and Parra. If they could get Marquis for something like 6 million, I think it would be worth it. Lets hope we can get rid of Marquis and save somewhere around 6 million.
