  1. I’ve been having issues every time I’ve tried to come on today. been on, on my home WiFi (never an issue) or mobile data. More than half the time it seems like the domain expired on the page that loads.
  2. Ah yes, the Angels tried and true method of PRP and rest. That always works and just doesn’t push off TJ a few months.

  4. Yeah, maybe don’t let the good players face wild thing
  5. It’s one swing at less than 100% so who knows how much this will be his in game swing but he’s definitely more upright in the video (always kinda assumed he’d get more upright as he ages and less crouched as he lost some athleticism and flexibility) his front foot/side is also a little more open than I remember too along with a little bit of a leg load.
  6. It's weird, my understanding is that Cards fans are generally worried about the offense, but for me I look at that rotation behind Flaherty and that's where I see cause for concern. It's sort of like the Cubs' bullpen where the sheer number of options probably means that it will turn out fine, but looking at the individual names I don't see anyone besides Mikolas who I would say is more likely to be good than bad. Their offense and defense I think have major issues and red flags. The offense really lacks impact. If Mikolas is legit hurt the rotation could be a mess with Martinez and Reyes always hurt and old man Waino. I think they’re the third best team in the division right now and they’re closer to 4th and the Brewers than us and the Reds at 1/2.
  7. Seems like a good dude
  8. That whole press conference was awesome.

  10. Because they may project Arenado more favorably moving forward, he’s controlled longer (I’m operating off the assumption if he’s traded he’s waiving his opt out rights as articles have mentioned), Arenado has been healthier and better more recently, projects to be able to stay at 3B longer, the Rockies are willing to pay down the deal and you’re getting Arenado at a discount, if we can throw Chatwood in him and Bryant are close to equaling out Arenado’s salary this year, maybe they like Arenado’s personality a bit to shake horsefeathers up like they’ve mentioned wanting, etc. You can still get under the LT this year acquiring Arenado and there’s still plenty of money to spend next offseason with him added. I’d rather move Bryant for around an equally as good player, who’s controlled longer than for a prospect poo poo platter/pitchers who probably die. We can all read the rumors and speculate, but I haven't read anything about Colorado taking on any other contracts. To tell the truth, some "rumors" have the Cubs sending along a prospect to get Arenado and cash. I haven't seen anything about them sending anywhere near the difference in salaries to keep the Cubs where they are financially or to reduce their salary obligations. I might believe it when I read something that hints of them taking on another contract to start to get us closer to (or under) the LT, but I can't see PTR going further over the LT. If Theo can move someone like Chatwood first AND Colorado throws in a ton of money, then I could see it happening. Throwing in cash or taking on Chatwood are the same thing to me, essentially. Seeing as it’s just 1 year for Chatwood and any money thrown in, even if it’s like $3-5 million a year for the 5+ years of Arenado, the entire total is owed in cash to the acquiring team within the year. So $25-40 mil thrown in is actually more on a cash basis than just taking Chatwood seeing as all that money is owed this year. Of course we may need to send a little extra with a prospect to have them throw in money and/or take some money in a player.
  11. So again, why should the Cubs make this deal?
  12. That ruling probably cost Hader $12-20 million on the low side over the next 3 years while he’s in arbitration. There was about a $2.5 million difference this year.
  13. The projections systems for next year have them as pretty close players, FWIW. Bryant: Steamer/Depth Charts: .273/.377/.508, 12%BB, 22%K, .371 wOBA, 129 wRC+, 4.8 WAR ZIPS: .271/.369/.506 4.5 WAR Arenado: Steamer/Depth Charts: .296/.371/.571 10%BB, 16%k, .381 wOBA, 124 wRC+, 5 WAR ZIPS: .298/.367/.567 4.5 WAR.
  14. Bryant would horsefeathers in Coors. He’s the better offensive player anyways. But in terms of overall value, longer term projection to stay at 3B and a safer floor and be a consistent 4.5-5.5 win guy I think Arenado has firmly established himself as the safer bet there recently. You’re also guaranteed to have a star longer, at a discount, if you trade for him (he’s likely waiving the opt out and the Rockies are taking money back and/or throwing money in). Bryant still has the higher ceiling though.
  15. Jesus Christ, if true this is egregious. Idk what the punishment even should be, but it should be extremely harsh.
  16. Well no, Almora's topped that in the half decade IIRC only went below once. Anyway, the guy Pillar would most be taking PAs from, Ian Happ, is probably alot better at him right now especially on offense OBP is only one metric to judge their value on, Almora is at .301 the last two years combined, Pillar is at .285 but Pillar has a higher wOBA and wRC+ in that period and ever since the BABIP dried up around June 2018 Almora is running a .280 and .270 OBP from June and July 2018-present. And how would Pillar take ABs away from Happ when Happ is clearly better vs RHP and Pillar would just be the RHH caddy and late inning defense guy?
  17. A friendly reminder that’s still better than Almora
  18. Pillar only got a little under $4 million from the Red Sox, really wish we could’ve been in on him for that price. If they just cut Almora that’s only like $2 mil more in salary.
  19. Yeah that’s not about that, can’t imagine what that did to him. It’s more about the swing change, same horsefeathers was reported last year. He horsefeathering sucks. https://www.cubsinsider.com/2019/02/21/albert-almora-jr-kicking-off-spring-with-new-swing/
