  1. Pretty much my thoughts. I don’t think ordering most of the 1B mentioned in any order 1-5 I’d take much objection too. Muncy is only 1 year younger than Rizzo and even though he’s been better recently it’s only 2 seasons, I’d lean Rizzo there just on track record. Also agree on some Alonso comments as well, only 1 season and if the K/BB rates even go 1-3 points the wrong ways and he’s “only” 30-40 HR guy he isn’t all that valuable (he’s probably the guy mentioned who benefits most from the juiced ball). I think I’d go Freeman, Rizzo, Goldschmidt, Muncy, Alonso in that order for NL 1B right now.
  2. I'm interested to see how this plays out. Nuggets kinda go for "team" players, who all move the ball and pass well. A lot of balance. I don't think the Bulls have very many players on the roster who fit the bill. Maybe Coby White. But LaVine and Lauri are kind of ball dominant guys. I really think the Bulls can build a team with one of LaVine/Markkanen, but I'm more intrigued by what an actual good GM could get for them. Figuring out what they have with the current guys next year with a real coach/FO and who is worth keeping/flipping and then having built out a FO/coaching staff that would be attractive for the monster FA class in 2 years where basically everyone is or can be a FA would be my main two goals for the team in the short term.
  3. aren't the players getting paid for 2020 (and getting service time)? i thought i saw that they had settled that a couple weeks back. The players are getting 4% of their salaries (and being credited a year of service time) if there is no season. If there is a season, I believe they pay back that 4%, because that was considered an advance at the time. I thought they are just getting paid through May as if it’s business as usual (idk what % of salary that is) but after that it’s entirely up in the air and they aren’t guaranteed anything if there’s no season?
  4. Yup, this seems semi reasonable. Sounds like the guys will basically be in a bio-dome for the season as of now (like you said maybe by June or sometime after when there’s a better idea/handle on it things are relaxed). Having widespread testing with it not taking away from the public and also the test to see if anyone has already had it will seem to be the key if this can happen or not, plus the virus not going crazy in Arizona. May is also the last month players are guaranteed paychecks so that will play a factor in deciding to move forward I’d assume from the MLBPA side.
  5. This is a wonderful thread https://twitter.com/greatstufftm/status/1247248524393283584?s=21
  6. I don't think people want to admit it but I don't see any way any sports happen this calendar year unless the scientific community pulls off something dramatic. (Which isn't off the table, to be clear.) Even if we do have baseball or anything else, I can't imagine any universe in which fans are included. Yeah if any of MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL happen I don’t think there will be fans or they’ll be extremely limited. I think the only sports we for sure get this year are probably nascar and golf since those can be done with the players/drivers having limited interaction with others.
  7. We can’t lose Fangraphs
  8. This thing is gonna be awesome and deserves its own thread
  9. This ends up with his dumb horsefeathers band opening for Springsteen at the Garden for a fundraising event for virus recovery once it’s all over
  10. We only recognize the World Series normally if we win, if it’s someone else it’s a sham and doesn’t count.
  11. Descalso and Almora still shouldn’t make the roster
  12. Silver lining in a full cancelation is the Dodgers don’t get a single PA out of Mookie
  13. He put on an absolute base running clinic in Game 7
  14. This is such a dumb measure to save money. It’s not even that much in savings and draft picks are, you know, the supply that keeps the whole product going.
  15. Yeah I’d assume they just pro rate it off of whatever the % reduction we see in games played/league year reduced.
  16. Yeah YouTube has all the 2016 games, fyi. If you have MLBTV (or don’t even know if you need it for archives) they have every game from the foreseeable past.
  17. Yes, please
  18. Unless that top pitching prospect was also involved as the other guy that sounds like a package that includes Heyward with KB
  19. Mixed bag for Kimbrel. Got 2 Ks and soft contact on 2 balls in play (GB to Rizzo and GB to Bote who booted it) but gave up a Dong too. Velo was only 95-96, which needs to get up 1-3 ticks before the season starts. The curve looked good.
