  1. This might be dumb logic but even though Descalso sucks I’d think you want to have all the major league caliber players as possible on your 40 to replace those that go down with COVID. He’s being replaced by a better player in Kipnis and maybe adding Perez too. Then there’s Short, Giambrone, Robel, etc who will be on that 60-man squad that can always come up. He’s not better than any of those guys. All the guys mentioned can play multiple positions too where Descalso basically is a DH. Also if we got to the point where Descalso is a key and needed player on the active roster because so many guys are out with Covid we’re going to suck anyways and/or they may be canceling the season anyways.

  3. Top DFA candidates have to be a Descalso (especially for Kipnis), any of the trio of the vet RP guys like Sadler, Winkler and Tepera and maybe Maples and Robel are at least considered, IMO. I’d assume Underwood and Rea are safe just because of the ability to start.
  4. It was discussed a few pages back. I’m more hoping the DH is treated to optimize lineups/play matchups and keep KB/Rizzo/Javy/Willy fresh vs just making Schwarbs/Souza the default DH for ~90% of the games.
  5. Hopefully we see a schedule soon. I could see the Cubs and White Sox playing all 6 of their games back to back. Also, there are two 100 loss teams in the AL central, Sox and Twins win total will probably be inflated in a 60 game season. Wouldn't be surprised if both AL wildcards come from there. I really want to see which AL Central teams we are losing games against in order to play the Sox 6 times instead of 4. If the Cardinals get more games against the Royals/Tigers than we do, that could make the difference in such a very short season. The White Sox are still closer to the Tigers and Royals than they are to the Twins and Indians, imo. They won 62 games last year. But yeah, hopefully it’s balanced as much as possible between us, Brewers (Their [expletive] in 60 games is going to be so annoying), Cardinals and Reds with the opponents in the AL Central and someone doesn’t miss out a lot on the Twins/Indians.
  6. One of these is not like the other (it’s Jesse, Jesse is not like the others. He’s a complete horsefeathering imbecile).
  7. There’s only 30 games, I could see how they could just jack up the prices and have willing buyers on the rooftops and make money on 20% capacity
  8. oh my god i completely forgot that we're going bryzzo at the top. seems like so long ago. hell yes, these lineups fornicate. Happ seems criminally underutilized in the 9 spot, but beyond that I'm too rusty to put together my own just yet. Also I know AL teams are generally hesitant to use a catcher in the DH spot unless they are carrying three catchers, as much as I like the idea of getting Willson out from behind the plate. Not sure what the roster rules are for this year, might be pretty easy to pick up/carry a third one. 2nd leadoff hitter with the OBP for when KB/Rizzo come back around, has contact guys in front of him that are behind OBP guys and we aren’t stacking all the lower contact guys in order with him 9. But anywhere from 7-9 I’m cool with him hitting in most lineups. I’m almost certain we (and most other teams) will carry 3 catchers with the expanded rosters as I’ve seen the expanded roster talk, think that would be Phagley for us. It makes a lot of sense to get Willy DH time to keep him fresh and since Vic is more than capable and better with framing.
  9. I think my ideal lineups with the DH are (knowing they’re doing KB-Rizzo 1-2). Vs RHP: 1. KB 3B 2. Rizzo 1B 3. Schwarbs LF 4. Javy SS 5. Heyward RF 6. Willy C 7. Kipnis DH 8. Nico 2B 9. Happ CF Vs LHP: 1. KB LF 2. Rizzo 1B 3. Javy SS 4. Willy DH 5. Bote 3B 6. Vic C 7. Souza RF 8. Nico 2B 9. Happ CF
  10. Actual stadiums and that’s where ST 2.0 is too.
  11. I don’t fear he’s going to be leading off or hitting top ~5 in the lineup, I think that was almost entirely a Joe thing. When he’s in the lineup I think Ross/Theo are much more on the same page there and he will be hitting 7-9. I do fear he’s going to snake his way in the lineup more than he should though and they’ll talk themselves in to he’s somehow good vs LHP and a great fielder. There’s just a ton of better lineup configurations vs LHP and RHP that doesn’t include him at all and he probably shouldn’t get more than 10 starts in the 60 games assuming health by the rest of the team.
  12. That’s fair, I’m fine having him DH here and there. I just hope he isn’t the default guy most of the time because I think there’s better ways to use it to optimize the lineup. As long as framing/human ump is a thing Willy is probably our weakest defender, imo. Also Almora, but he just shouldn’t ever play. This is my problem with that. If it means more playing time for almora, it's a negative. And it almost certainly means that I fear that too. But hopefully it’s Happ/Nico in CF mostly with some Heyward. Then KB/Rizzo/Javy/Schwarbs/Willy/Bote/Kipnis/Souza/Nico/Vic are rotating between DH/LF/3B/SS/2B/1B/C
  13. That’s fair, I’m fine having him DH here and there. I just hope he isn’t the default guy most of the time because I think there’s better ways to use it to optimize the lineup. As long as framing/human ump is a thing Willy is probably our weakest defender, imo, especially with Vic who’s a fringe starter and overqualified backup at the least. Also Almora, but he just shouldn’t ever play.
  14. Schwarber isn’t really a DH only anymore and it’s a pretty lazy narrative, imo. I’d rather we use the DH to keep Bryant/Rizzo/Javy/Willy fresh and just optimize lineups for best matchups. There’s also Kipnis/Souza who are more DH candidates than Schwarber with their age/recent injuries. Schwarber just shouldn’t be the default DH for 70-80% of the games or whatever.
  15. Yeah, this also doesn’t make coming to any sort of agreement on 2022 any easier and puts that season at risk even more.
  16. we all know the brewers are winning 40 games with a +4 differential Right now I think I’m rooting for the Padres, D’backs or Rockies to catch a heater and horsefeathers over the Dodgers more than anything.
  17. Yeah I think this keeps them in the clear on losing any grievance. Also can be spun as the players being the bad guys with voting no on this and if they delay things further with the safety stuff (which you’d think everyone is on the same page there). There’s a universal DH in 2020 but not 2021 from the tweets I’ve seen.
  18. It seems like Jesse has become their number 2 baseball guy nationally. Which is horsefeathering ridiculous, he’s a complete horsefeathering moron. Passan has credited him a lot lately with being a source.
