  1. Rizzo hit a soft/looping liner to LF and looked like Marte could make a catch so Denorfia could only go half way at best. It ended up dropping in and Marte had a relatively easy throw to 3B to force him out as he played it off a hop.
  2. Not yet. They said on the broadcast tonight that even tho both teams have Sept. 14th off (a logical date for the makeup) and then start a 3 game series in Pitt on the 15th that would result in Pitt playing 30 or more games in a row and that the league/MLBPA would have to approve and Pirates players would have to vote on it for the 14th to happen. Sounds like a DH may be more likely.
  3. Anytime Ross is up 2-0 or better in a count he should be required to take until he gets a strike or walks
  4. Silver lining is Rondon was likely unavailable tonight so at least it saved us from a Motte save situation
  5. How many make up games does this put us at now the rest of the way 4?
  6. Theo added over $250m in salary obligations over the offseason just an fyi exactly why reducing the obligations is necessary to add more Probably should look to trade Rizzo too if that's the case
  7. I would guess Crawford's 7/140 is a good starting point for him, with maybe an extra and/or a few extra mil a year added due to age.
  8. That should always be the goal, even if money is of no concern, it doesn't mean they are going to do it but they should always be seeking out those guys over FA SP entering their 30's. Also moving Montero/Castro and getting Hayward and Zobrist probably adds MORE MONEY to the payroll, before any kind of SP is added
  9. Seriously, if Castro's contract is a hinderance to us making moves we have far bigger things to worry about.
  10. When was the last week this big for the team? Would any week in 2009 qualify or does it go back to the 08 playoffs? Good question. I remember there was a week in 2009 we tied for first in early August and then faced the Phillies and got destroyed effectively ending out playoff hopes. It's gotta be 2008 The 4 game series in Milwaukee in 08' is what comes to mind for me
  11. Don't think they are going to outright bench Castro when Baez comes up, Castro will still be starting more than Herrera has. I'm guessing we'll see equal playing time between Baez/Castro/Russell when Javy comes up between 2B/SS/3B (Bryant to the OF a little more).
  12. I kinda like the idea, too. As long as all it takes is something like Rivero, LaStella or Szczur at most.
  13. They're wrong, not that it matters. But it was Teagarden for Richard. I think the move for Haren was DFA'ing Medina.
  14. So if we don't lose Castro or Montero we have between $10 - $25 million to add a SP, CF, bench bat, and a bullpen arm. So much for Price or any other TOR pitcher. A Price level signing/contract may not be possible (personally I think it's ridiculous they couldn't add a Zimmerman or Price for contract reasons but that's not the point for now), but if they are more interested in the pursuit of a young controllable arm (Carrasco, Ross, Gray in a long shot, etc) it's possible we can take care of most of those thing and stay around $20 million.
  15. what if they worked something out to take utley and give them castro + cash considerations? What? No
  16. Yeah, with 7 left against the Giants and 9 vs the Pirates hopefully we just take care of business in head-to-head games so we don't need to worry too much about what they do in other games.
  17. And likely sets the single season BABIP record
  18. 7-4 Rangers. Belt just flat out dropped a routine double play ball to end the inning resulting in a run scoring
  19. Giants game is on MLBN, FYI, for those interested
  20. Pirates lose! Giants down 2 in the 7th
