  1. I'm preparing myself for cheaping out on CF, something like a Jackson and Span/Parra platoon
  2. Pretty sure he's never been good in CF or at least the plus defender there that he is in LF/RF.
  3. [expletive] that, I want Fowler to be the worst player we'd add for CF
  4. Wait, didn't the D'Backs just sign Leake?
  5. Does Warren have options left to start in Iowa to be the depth starter?
  6. You guys think Zobrist hits leadoff? The money seems reasonable and shouldn't be an absolute albatross of a contract, still want to see what we get for Castro and other moves before deciding how I feel overall.
  7. The Castro for Gary Sanchez and then trade Montero angle intrigues me if it means we can afford both Zobrist and Heyward.
  8. Nah Id be pretty happy to. I don't like Castro and I'd certainly prefer to have Zobrist on the roster than Castro. I just see Castro as a defensive liability and a bit of a mental flake. He's had a pretty inconsistent career. You're going to hate Zobrist's 2B defense if you think Castro is a liability there. Ick, UZR had him terrible in LF too. Did he have nagging injuries or something? He was pretty good at 2B and other-worldly in the OF in '14. He had a knee injury early in the year for Oakland last year, iirc.
  9. Agreed and also if we still have enough money to at least bring back Fowler, if not make a run at Heyward.
  10. We better really go hard after Heyward if we are committing to a 35 year old starter at 2B for significant money/years.
  11. Does he stare blankly into the stands as balls zip by his glove? No he doesn't even get to half the balls that Castro gets to and boots and stares blankly at
  12. Just today he was linked to the Angels, but he's likely waiting for a domino like Heyward to fall. Yeah same with Cespedes, I think they wait for Heyward to go as well. I think 1 ends up with the Angels and 1 ends up with the Giants.
  13. I wonder if there could be 3rd team involved in this because on the surface there don't seem to be a lot of fits with just us and the Yankees unless it's a strict salary dump.
  14. My sentiment as well especially if it means he takes up our remaining money to spend. Hopefully, like you said we just have a lot more money than anyone has reported.
  15. How untouchable is Severino/how much more would we have to add? Going off of trying to get young controllable guys narrative as well. Like could we do Castro, Hammel salary dump with McKinney or one of the top 5-8 guys for him?
  16. I really don't want Gardner for him. I still really like Castro, I guess this could be a salary dump to get Zobrist. Any intriguing cheapish guys they have?
  17. Or Bryant to the OF and Zobrist for 3B
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] This tweet was in response to someone asking what's up with the trade he said would happen late last night
  19. as much as I like Odorizzi, I don't give up Javy for him in a straight up trade. I'd like him more if he threw harder. His average FB velocity jumped by 1 MPH last year (to 91.3) and he maxed his FB at 94 MPH and his cutter at 90. At 25-26 I doubt he's ever adding a lot more velocity but he clearly is capable of reaching low-mid 90s, so maybe as he reaches his physical peak he is able to maintain more velocity and get his average FB velocity to the 92 MPH range (not necessarily adding MPH to the top end but consistently throwing harder).
  20. as much as I like Odorizzi, I don't give up Javy for him in a straight up trade. I think it's pretty fair value for Javy as of right now, if not us getting the better end. If McGee is also involved and Javy is the main piece I think that's incredible value for Javy with where he is at right now. I still think we'd have to include another good piece with Javy to get both, like Edwards, PJ, McKinney.
  21. Excellent, if we are doing a trade with them for a SP he's my preferred target (I don't think Archer or even Snell are realistic options for various reasons).
  22. A mystery team is making a very strong push for Fernandez, according to Stark.
  23. Yeah you kinda have to think that, or they use him as a legit/verified source for getting rumors out to set up other deals for guys. Like if they really want Gausman they could go say hey look we were close to trading Baez for Miller, Miller is certainly better than Gausman but we will still give you Javy for him type thing.
