  1. So Martin or Rivera over Lackey? I would generally agree, but with Jake and Lester as question marks I could see going 12 with Lackey as a safety valve.
  2. Jake Peavy signing Go Cubs Go in vegas
  3. There really isn’t much debate or decision in the playoff roster, it should be... Pitchers (12): Jake Lester Hendricks Q Lackey Monty Duensing Wilson Rondon Strop Carl Wade Position Players (13): Contreras Avila Bryant Russell Baez Rizzo Zobrist Jay Schwarber Happ Almora Heyward LaStella Only real debate would be if they want Grimm over Lastella for an extra pitcher or I guess Rivera or Martin over Lastella (doubtful). Or Martin over Almora if he’s hurt.
  4. Not that he’d be used in games outside of this/after the clinch, but why wasn’t Zagunis called up?
  5. I hope we get to see Maples in at least 2 of the next 4 games. Still think he can be a huge part of the 2018 pen
  6. Given how susceptible Lester and Arrieta are to disaster starts, and how capable this lineup is with comebacks, I think it would be a good move. I obviously prefer that not to happen but it would make sense and be smart to have Lackey make the roster and hold Jake or even Lester for game 4 to see where both are at health wise and at least have to option of not running out a pitcher that isn’t healthy/not feeling comfortable.
  7. I think Lackey is going to make the roster, I could see Jake being held for game 4 to see how his hamstring is. If he/they don’t feel it’s in a great spot I could see Lackey getting that start too.
  8. Skyballer and plagerism
  9. Would they go Arrieta, Quintana, Lester then Hendricks? That's what the ESPN guys were saying during the telecast last night. I would almost guarantee that isn’t it. Barring some weird injury I would almost guarantee Hendricks and Q are locks to start one of the first 3 games and Arrieta/Lester are what they need to determine for one of the first 3 and game 4.
  10. Kyle hating on Theo/rebuild and almost becoming a Cardinal fan The MS paint of the Theo hire The Ryan Sweeney contract/extension Brian Roberts/Big Bird NoCode breaking the Lester signing a week before Sofa not knowing names or anything about prospects when all we had were prospects to keep us interested POOR TOM RICKETTS
  11. I bet we have a late afternoon game, one of the AL games will be the noonish start then we’ll go between 3:30-5:30 if I had to guess.
  12. Don’t be afraid to pitch Scherzer on short rest, Dusty and also use your bullpen and lineup configuration in a completely wrong way.
  13. I hope 8 days is enough time for Bryant to recover from his hangover for our next meaningful game
  14. Shame on you for not liking the Soler for Davis trade! ETA: I actually don't even know if that's true. That's just what everybody said the other day. I didn't like the idea of trading a position player with his talent/minor league track record and the control he had left for an injured closer on one year, but it obviously turned out extreme best case. I felt the same way for the same reasons, but qualified liking it if they liked the medicals. Basically when the FO makes a move going forward I trust they have a solid foundation of facts and info for making a decision.
  15. I’m on the record for Jake (if he’s healthy), Quintana, Hendricks and Lester 1 through 4. Hendricks, Q, Jake, Lester 1-4 if Jake isn’t 100%. Whatever they end up doing I feel confident it is the best move given what they know and the numbers tell them.
  16. The NL Central in GIF form this year, the Cubs are the branch and the rest of the division is the fellow on the ladder. The Brewers and Cardinals poked and hacked all year and we slowly moved, then we got some momentum and sent them away as they couldn’t get out of the way.

  18. Good job and congrats to all those who never really doubted this team all year (you know who you are), and shame on those who ever doubted (you know who you are). This is so awesome, can’t wait for playoff baseball.

  20. Go eat a St. Louis style pizza, Dex
  21. I think there’s absolutely going to be a picture of him after the game with the guys or out a little later, that is completely harmless and just him dropping by that is going to make the BFIB livid
  22. Brewers are getting their doors blown off right now, that series only meaning is pretty much for who takes 2nd in the Central and 1 draft position with the Rockies win today.
