1. That was a ridiculous pitch. 95 with ridiculous run
2. I know all the discussions about his peripherals, etc but based on selective eye test (basically meaning ABs I've seen) he's looked like poop and getting more poop-like in appearance. Yeah he’s putting himself in good spots and taking walks and not K’ing really at all and not swinging at bad pitches. He’s just not making nearly enough good contact.
3. Holy horsefeathers Willy and Happ had some awful ABs the last 2 times up
4. Yeah, he’s throwing it every where in the zone at varying velocities. Wonder if he’ll break out another pitch 2nd/3rd time through. As I type this he just dropped in a 73 MPH curve on Yelich
5. Looked like Yu got squeezed a bit that inning but overall nice clean inning
6. Nothing??? He’s throwing mostly slider/cutter it appears. He’s mixing in his 2-steamer at 92-94 and throwing a few 4-seamers at 95-96
7. Vaunted Wade Miley is on rehab right now and will be back soon, Sterns knows what he’s doing
8. What was the play Heyward screwed up exactly? Wasn’t watching
9. He took a 1-2 or 2-2 cutter/slider vs Anderson tonight (I think his 2nd AB) off the outside corner that was a pretty good pitch but not really hittable that I'm certain he's swung at 99.9% of the time in his career so far. Edit: It was his 3rd AB I was watching at a bar, and I was talking to the guy next to me and we both commented that was a pitch javy always swung at before and how great it is to see him take those pitches now. He still seems to swing at almost every 3-2 pitch if it's even remotely close to the zone though, but if he maintains this approach, I won't complain about that (too much) Yeah that’s the next step hopefully that he starts walking a little, I’d agree it seems he’s swinging no matter what on 3-2 still.
10. Is that good? It seems pretty good.
11. Carl has a 16.2 K/9, 21Ks and 4BBs in 11 innings
12. Yeah he's basically the same pitcher as last year looking at the numbers and velo and what not, and probably tops out around 3 WAR in best case scenario. Plus yeah, it wasn't so much thinking he would just suck this year. It was over the term of the deal and a better pitcher being available for not much more + getting a draft pick for him.
13. Since I posted my thoughts above he's gone 3% BB rate, 14% K rate, 18% LD, 45% GB and 25% IFF rates and is at 22% hard hit contact with a.192/.222/.231 line with only 1 XBH (that doesn't include his 1-3 tonight since Fangraphs isn't updated yet). We appear to have some sort of Freaky Friday situation on our hands with me taking the Duke'sters power cursing players.

15. Hopefully Bryant is back and it will be interesting to see which of Schwarber or Heyward get a start vs the lefty since Zobrist is still out. I'd lean Heyward for defense and not being complete butt at the plate but Schwarber has def earned a start vs one with how he's looked.
16. if he has symptoms, then he has to have a concussion, right? is there such thing as a borderline concussion? how do heads work? I think it's more the case of they're making sure there's no symptoms developing as it can pop up days after the fact. I know after like 2-3 days, if there isn't any symptoms, then the chance of him having a concussion drops big time and he'll be good to go. I'm hoping this is it and thought about it today too. Just being extra cautious to make sure there's no delayed reaction to make sure he's 100% and not re-setting the 10-day DL clock if he'd have to go. I also wonder if they felt some delayed symptoms could kick in after 2 plane rides in ~3 days and coming down from the altitude in Coors (if that's even a thing with concussions).
