  1. Carlos Martinez has cried on the mound during two mound visits tonight, he’s definitely hurt
  2. Willy is a mess at the plate, he’s missing so many hittable FBs lately
  3. Am I the only one that likes the pitchers hitting? If only because pitchers juicing home runs is really, really, extra cool. Wood, Z, Lester, and Arrieta hitting dingers are very fond memories in my brain. Here is my lame slippery slope argument: How long would it take after the DH is instituted league-wide until people are clamoring for shortstops to have their ABs covered by guys with Dadbods who can't field? Pitchers hitting is dumb and I cant wait for the NL to get the DH. As for your latter part, this is MLB we are talking about, they move at glacial pace. Something like that would take decades to implement.
  4. So Syndergaard's finger injury that "wasn't a big deal" and he was supposed to be good to go like two Sundays ago against the Yankees...... He currently isn't cleared to throw off a mound and is only throwing off flat ground with a splint on his finger and they "hope" mid-July for a return date.
  5. The Bulls would definitely still have to trade or sign a dynamic wing player at some point who the offense could flow through and facilitate to fully utilize the Bamba/Markannen front court. I think Bamba can be the 2nd best player for sure on a championship team. Granted, he'd have to hit on a lot of his upside...and he will never be an Option A because he's a big and the game doesn't go thru the post anymore. But regardless, the Bulls are going to need a dynamic wing player. I mean, that's the only way you contend in the NBA. While Porter or Young could potentially be dynamic wing players, I think the odds are very slim that you take one of them and you're a title contender unless they become Durant or Curry, respectively. I think Lauri/Bamba is a potentially wonderful 2/3 option on a title contender. They're not likely to ever get a #1 option unless they sign an already established FA dynamic wing player. And I think the chances of Lauri/Bamba making Chicago an attractive destination for FA dominant wing players > the chances Porter or Young become that dominant wing player. This is my thinking as well
  6. :flythew: #WeAreGood. Hell of a series win, with the setup and especially after game 1 yesterday I would’ve been happy with 1 of 3, but SuperCubs are here to stay. Go win 3 of 4 in Cincy now. Should be enough to be in first by end of Sunday.
  7. I think Hand would be prohibitively expensive. Happ+ is probably the minimum (which I’m not giving that up). Britton hopefully like some combo of Bote, Caritini, and pitching prospects (which I don’t care, take whoever). I want Ottavino if the Rockies fall out of it. He’s a FA after the year. I’ve also mentioned Lugo and Gsellemen as other guys I’d target.
  8. He’s the Lebron of MLB in that way. Looks like he dies and turns an ankle terribly or hurts his arm/wrist but is fine after 2 minutes.
  9. Are there people saying he’s not had a good season?
  10. Probably a split and they have to overuse their pitching and we sweep or take 3 of 4 in Cincy.
  11. Nice job Jon (and wind, defense and BABIP luck)!
  12. Definitely. He’s using his change up more, his velo has been a tick or 3 better this year vs 2017, he seems to be commanding the corners and low in the zone better. He’s definitely closer to 2015/16 Lester than 2017 Lester This isn't true in terms of the tick on his FB Overall yes. But I swear I saw on twitter he’s up above 2017 velo his last half dozen starts or so
  13. Definitely. He’s using his change up more, his velo has been a tick or 3 better this year vs 2017, he seems to be commanding the corners and low in the zone better. He’s definitely closer to 2015/16 Lester than 2017 Lester I think Lester's been extremely lucky, but he's also a legit soft contact guy. His ERA is in the low 2's, but I'd guess he's "earned" an ERA in the low 3's while FIP puts him in the low 4's. Oh I mean he’s not a sub 3 era guy, but he’s been plenty fine. Today is the first game in a while I’d say he’s getting really lucky, he clearly doesn’t have it and is giving up some very hard contact the wind and defense is saving his ass on.
  14. Definitely. He’s using his change up more, his velo has been a tick or 3 better this year vs 2017, he seems to be commanding the corners and low in the zone better. He’s definitely closer to 2015/16 Lester than 2017 Lester
  15. Russell plays that ball a lot better. I know Javy has the better arm so he can sit back and trust it, but Russell plays that ball a ton better and “rounds it” so he has momentum taking him to first, instead of just waiting back and having to back foot it which opens up a lot more room for error.
