I certainly get the fire Joe takes and agree with some, but I’m more for bringing him back than not. Mostly for stuff like this, he builds a culture/clubhouse like nobody else and manages the day to day minutiae better than anyone which I think is more important than anything (a drill sergeant like Girardi would ruin this team and culture). He makes guys want to be here with the atmosphere of the team he largely is responsible for overseeing. Seeing things like this makes me believe in it. [tweet] [/tweet]

I wonder how much, if any at all, of Rizzo’s terrible April was due to trying to adapt to Chili’s new approach. Im trying not to draw any conclusions from a short quote after back to back tough losses that ended their season, but I wonder if Rizzo didn’t just say horsefeathers it I’m doing it my way. Could have just been a crazy slump mixed with a bunch of bad luck too that had nothing to do with Chili. Wasn’t he crazy unlucky in the first ~30 games? Like all his underlying numbers were fine with LD%, where the ball was going, etc and was in line with his career? Like he was literally the same guy, just was hitting outs at guys and getting BABIP’d to death? -
First goal of the offseason is to hear he didn’t have a surgery in the next ~4 weeks

yeah, they all got dickish and entitled. go back and do the hard work and realize that other teams are going after the same thing that you're going after. they acted like the division title was pre-ordained to go to the cubs. I’m sure they did zero hard work this year

Changes will definitely be made and additions and subtractions needed but this sport is so weird and unpredictable I think this is really a horsefeathers happens year more than anything. When you make the playoffs every year you’re likely not getting the wanted outcome in this mostly stupid sport.

Just and exhausting season. Still had some moments of fun and still was successful in certain ways. Was fun to spend another year on here, just was a crazy few months down the stretch of things not happening the right way. Hopefully the right moves are made in the offseason. Took some unfortunate and unlikely circumstances (especially the last monthish) to have this team not reach its potential but that’s baseball. When you’re in a spot to make and be in the playoffs every year this happens. I trust the FO to make the right moves and changes.
