  1. Oh, sure, now you are back. Just kidding. Welcome back!!!!! Me, trying to get back on the Cubs' bandwagon:
  2. Yup, it’s so dumb to do that. Even though it’s a 1 in a million play to drop it, it’s gonna happen at some point Pretty sure I said the same thing about Soriano’s hop and Fowler’s similar catching style but I can’t remember it actually ever happening Yeah those guys were cool and good players though, Almora horsefeathering sucks. They also both dropped balls at one point.

  4. Heyward clearly stole Yelich’s magic beans when we were in Milwaukee
  5. I liked him a lot as a trade target this offseason, he’s been awful in 7 AAA innings this year (never pitched in MLB for the Phillies). He’d be a worthwhile add, imo. He’s cheap and has options and has been good the last few years. [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. The Cards are definitely good, but I'm not super worried about them being so good that they have what it takes to run away with the division. Their offense has been firing on all cylinders, but I think on the whole they've had more go wrong with their pitching than right with their offense. Carlos Martinez looks like he can no longer hold up as a starter. Alex Reyes is making Tyler Chatwood look like Greg Maddux. Andrew Miller seems broken. These things are going to hold them back from being some 95 win behemoth. Agree, they’re not bad but they have flaws/injuries. I think they’re closer to a 85-88 win team than mid 90s. Wacha is already hurt too, the bullpen is shaky, if Wainwright ends up getting 20-25 starts that probably won’t end well, Mikolas is regressing a bit last I checked too.
  7. To ensure that sweet, sweet 40* day stretch with no off days * probably, I didn't count There are a couple of stretches where a makeup game would kill us. In June/July we have a stretch of 32 games in 33 days, but at least we have the all star break right after. In September to close out the season we have 24 games in 25 days so we could easily have a game made up on that off day and see another death march. I think, at least in our division, there isn’t a team with an overly friendly September schedule like the brewers had last year. Iirc from looking at schedules at start of the year.
  8. The Brewers signed Gio Gonzalez, he’s probably their best starting pitcher.
  9. Hey, well how bout that we are above .500! Keep playing well idiots and never drop to .500 or below again the rest of the year.
  10. I just remembered we have that Johnny Field guy in Iowa, checked his stats... he’s hitting .269/.316/.615, .373 wOBA, 114 wRC+, 2 Dongs, 6 doubles and 3 triples, 7% BB rate and 24% K rate, he had a 101 wRC+ vs LHP in mlb last year. Get his ass up here for Almora
  11. I think he can definitely be a Dietrich or Descalso type guy, he seems more than a 1B only. In spring I was surprised with how athletic he looked, probably would go a long way if he could handle some OF along with 2B/1B.
  12. *Pure baseball reason, I hope they never bring him up. The defense is definitely a reason, him at SS and Javy at 2B is better than anything we can currently do on the infield and our pitchers have a top of the league GB rate. Hopefully he just is used more for spot/platoon starts vs LHP (these would be ABs from Heyward, Almora or Schwarber since you don’t want to play Descalso vs LHP often either with KB and Zobrist in OF and Bote at 3B) and late inning defense than given any sort of everyday role.
  13. I hope he doesn’t see many more leverage spots. Hopefully Cedeno is up soon to be the leverage lefty.
  14. Because he’s actually throwing it more and for some reason cut way down on using it last year (4-6% I want to say) and is throwing it more in line with his usage rates from his WS and 2017 time split with us (9-12% iirc).
  15. Q was shoving tonight, he deserved to get out of that with a 4 run lead and was the best option vs the bearded little man carney rat we have roaming in the pen
  16. horsefeathers off ump that’s 99% in him but Heyward also needs to catch that
  17. Oh my, my Javy. horsefeathering wizard
  18. Any reason they couldn't just play Bote in LF? I guess I'd prefer Bryant to play wherever he is most comfortable until he gets right. Other than he hasn’t done it, no, and I’d be fine trying that too I think Bote could be a decent OF’er. He’s a damn good athlete and hard worker. I would love for him to play some CF at some point to be a RHH option there (and send Almora to the sun).
  19. Schwarbs better figure it out soon or else Descalso/Bote should be playing for him almost every day (Bryant in the OF).
