  1. It is, you can see Nico’s arm isn’t the greatest SS there. But he seems perfectly passable, it also was a smart play to short hop that vs trying to load up and sail a ball.
  2. Another opportunity to make up a game tonight. Need to figure it out quickly I’d worry more about the team that’s gonna be 1 GB our playoff spot if we lose tonight Eh, their pitching sucks and they have to have 6+ of Arcia, Perez, Spangenberg, Gamel, Grisham, Austin, Shaw, Pina or broken Cain/Moustakas in the lineup the rest of the way. Grandal and Thames are their only good offensive players .
  3. Yelich fouled a ball off his knee in the first and didn’t finish the AB and had to be helped off the field. He isn’t in the dugout and there hasn’t been a single update until just now the broadcast said no update will be given u til the post game press conference. Brian Anderson made it sound ominous.
  4. He’s definitely getting Morrow’d/Yu’d where they didn’t do the definitive MRI that rules everything out and told him to rest and catch. Would be shocked if he pitches again this year. [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. Plus at 2B, passable but likely a tick below average at SS, maybe can play CF too as they toyed with it in the minors but guessing he’s a 2B in the majors next year.
  6. You can’t spell Contact without Nico
  7. Hopefully Bryant’s Disco Ball stayed up for this contact fest, he’d be loving it.
  8. God damn, Cubs don’t have a system though
  9. I like Nico, even if he just ends up more of a utility/platoon guy.
  10. Albert Almora, but a shortstop. He’s going to be the hitter the Almora fucks think Almora is or can be.
  11. I don’t know how it plays out, I’d assume Ross will be heavily rumored. I’m guessing they go with the trend of the relatively unknown guy who’s cheap and “goes by the book” and is essentially an extension of the FO in the dugout. I’d assume internally Borzello, Loretta and Venanble will be candidates, would like to keep Hottovy as the pitching coach. Externally I’d be interested in Carlos Beltran.
  12. Agree, but it’s still nice to have the emergence of guys who seem above average to really good. ~5 months ago it looked like we were going to have to spend at least Brach/Kintzler money on every bullpen spot. Now, and I agree with you, we need to just spend on one spot for a solid guy. That spot could be filled with a trade too.
  13. Really? That looks like a disaster to me, and I like Wick. Im gonna be so pissed if we go into 2020 without a lockdown bullpen. Its been our biggest problem every single year of our contention window. Even when we won the world series, we did it with like 1.75 reliable relievers. I want to sign and/or trade for every good reliever available this offseason. Kimbrel, Wick, Ryan, Wieck, Phelps and maybe Hultzen is a solid group of ~5 guys going in to the offseason as the core. Spend Cishek level money on 1 FA then use the final 1-2 spots for a long guy and then an Iowa shuttle spot. The emergence of some of these guys is a good thing because it likely allows us to spend more money of offense or a SP since at the start of the year literally the whole bullpen was going to be turned over and now we have 3-4 spots filled with cheap good guys outside of Kimbrel.
  14. The medical staff continues be such a horsefeathering joke
  15. Joe really showed his ass with this one, my god. Just miss the playoffs entirely. horsefeathering losers. The organization is structurally flawed and we have a drunken sailor at the wheel.
  16. I’ll be at the game tomorrow, hopefully they flushed all that ugliness out of the system tonight.
  17. Equally hilarious we’ve somehow managed to walk his bum ass twice tonight instead of making his broken down body swing a bat.
