Unless he’s complete toast/medicals are horsefeathers, Miley on a NRI that guarantees him whatever inconsequential amount I’d be down for. Do the he has the call up/opt out by whatever x date and then he can be a FA but if he comes up he gets like $2 mil + incentives, seems like the play with him as of now if they want to keep him.

I’ve been trying to find this too but all I see is a $1 mil buyout if either side declines. Maybe that’s due to incentives that aren’t calculable yet?

Yeah I have no interest in Swanson. Correa + whatever pitching (Rodon, Thor, deGrom, etc) is what I’d want. I also like the idea of trying to keep one of Smyly or Miley.

Wouldn’t mind Brandon Belt as the LHH/1B add this offseason. Not having the greatest year but he gets on base and hits RHP plus away from SF the power may play up a bit. Gonna be 35 so shouldn’t cost much either and doubt he gets a QO.

Like the move, he’s been a good hitter for every year but this year. Just hope he takes Frank’s and Fraizer’s ABs, not Nelson’s or other guys that need ABs.

Unless the medicals are complete horsefeathers we should take a run at him, he’s shown periods of being absolutely elite. Even if it’s just a RP/long man role. Like just give him Leiter’s spot and see what he can do.

These LIV guys horsefeathering suck. Knew lawsuits were coming but their main talking point was “The PGA sucks, doesn’t compensate us well enough and makes us play to much so we’re going to a league to play less and make more.” Now they want to play more golf/still have access to the PGA. Your decisions and actions have consequences you assholes.

Only downside is the Rule 5 thing with him since there’s the pending 40-man crunch with decisions. Attaching some guy on the 40-man in a Happ/Givens/Willy/Smyly or whoever deal would make some sense.

There's no such thing as "irrational" pessimism when it comes to the Cubs. Really don't trust Jed and the GM to get the best possible value. They killed the deadline last year by all accounts, there’s over two hours left and a lot of the trades done last year (KB/Javy) went to the wire and they also had the year they acquired Castellanos that was announced after. Whatever route they take I think it should be good.

I'm officially baffled. Has there ever been a case where the division leader traded their closer at the deadline? Eh, he’s a FA after next year and will cost $20 mil or so in arbitration, they’re not giving him a high 8 to 9 figure deal he will command once he’s a FA. Pitchers break all the time, etc , RPs are volatile. Brewers aren’t likely winning WS this year and have good RPs in place already and replaced him decently if they make a playoff run with Rogers and got other stuff plus money savings out of it. Think it’s a good move. I was hoping to snag Lamet as a flyer if we do something with the Padres.

My issue with Campusano, obviously SSS, but he’s a bat first catcher who hasn’t hit at all in his MLB time and he needs to hit to carry value by all accounts because his defense is not good. He’s hit everywhere so maybe it’s sample/luck/adjustment but that’s my worry. Would have to trust the scouts seeing him that he can overcome whatever is happening and be a productive MLB hitter.

If we do something with the Padres I wonder if Lamet could be included as a flyer/throw in almost. He’s been hurt and bad and is in AAA now but has had some real nice runs and controlled through next year.
